If you think there's a relevance then that's up to you, to me it has no relevance whatsoever to what is happening today.

Back in the present,it depends how bad a job someone thinks Tomasson did IN THE END.

I think Eustace took over a complete mess from Tomasson and if he keeps us up he'll have done well. It matters not how good the football was last year, he didn't give a damn in the end.

Of course it’s irrelevant to the here and now, it was 10 years ago - but it’s a fair historical comparison to make - bloke comes in during a season to take over a struggling side.

It’s a message board, we can chew the fat over such things, if you aren’t interested then fair enough.

  2. Why is it irrelevant? I’m comparing Rovers managers. People do that all the time, and why not? We compare good ones, we compare poor ones. Folk have been talking about how much time a bloke who can’t win a match should get, and that’s a fair question (not that he will go anywhere even if he doesn’t win a single game and we end up in the third division).

So as an *example* Appleton came in during a season with the team struggling (parallels, no?) and was pretty much deemed as being poor from day dot. Yet since coming in this guy has been much poorer, MA got 15 games.

Nothing will be done. The same old. We complain on here, yet nothing happens.

Supporters are just fed up with it all. We seem to be not be interested in our club going to the wall.

Some might say we deserve what we get. Other supporters fight for their club.

Yet, what are our lot (really) doing?

We are pretty much rolling over and letting all who are destroying our great club ‘tickle’ our bellies.

    Let that sink in…

    What a shit show.

The problem with this fanbase is that a good number of them still don’t particularly have much of an issue with the owners at all, so it’s not a case of fans having no balls for the fight to oust them -  they don’t even think we are in a fight.

All that is going to happen is yet more fans will walk away this summer, and a certain family will still be in situ.

I don't ignore the Indian elephant in the room though. Quite the opposite.

Although three posters in particular (yourself included) stalk practically every post I make accusing me of it. It's really boring and that apart you're an excellent poster.

Because I find it infuriating that you still go around the houses month after month. Maybe add just the odd post calling out the owners (unprompted) instead of always going after the hired hands (they’ve hired) and you won’t get ‘stalked’.

These people have destroyed our football club but I still get the impression that if they employed, say, a CEO more to your liking you’d be more than happy to give them chance #4567.

A real blind spot and I’ve never worked out why you’ve always had it.

  5. Rev, *nobody* on here gives the likes of Swag ‘a free pass’, to a man the messsge board think he is an incompetent buffoon (at best) - so stop coming out with it every time you are called out for ignoring the Indian elephant in the room.

We brought in money from Wharton sale and Raya sell on clause so lets say it is £25m for this scenario.

You can spend £7m for the summer transfer budget, add £2m to the wage budget for next season and the season after. So that's £11m then spend 3m on improve the club academy facilities and first team facilities. then save £3m for next January window. So that's, £17m spent whilst reducing the season debt by £8m

Sounds great Chaddy, I’m looking forward to seeing this model put into action next season.

  7. I don’t give a shiny shite about ‘passing games’, ‘playing the right way’ and all that - results, results, results is all that matters to me and he got plenty to have us consistently around the top 6 until December 2023.

I will judge JE exactly the same way as we await said win as we go into game eight of his reign. The wins start today with a 1-0 off Gally’s shin after 90 minutes of hoofing it? Sounds good to me.

  8. Not true last season though Parson. This season undoubtedly he had ‘one way’ much of the time, largely because I feel he knew he had one foot out of the door and thought ‘feck it’ - another reason they should’ve parted ways much earlier, but this club doesn’t do such things.

However you don’t get to 7th (outside the play offs on GD) and two good cup runs with a squad as average as that one by playing kamikaze football.

  9. We were just outside the play offs and had won a load of games going into December, points on the board is all that mattered to me.

We then couldn’t buy a win for two and a bit months and the manager left, that’s football.

Whereas this fella has been in post since early February and still hasn’t won a game by Easter (eighth league game today). Still, least we are now ‘pragmatic’.

  10. So you’ve got a DoF working towards a ‘model’ of bringing in young lads to ‘develop’… whilst at the same time an ex-agent CEO bringing in players in their mid 30s without seemingly any due diligence by the sounds of it.

14 years and look at the state of it.
