  1. So you’ve got a DoF working towards a ‘model’ of bringing in young lads to ‘develop’… whilst at the same time an ex-agent CEO bringing in players in their mid 30s without seemingly any due diligence by the sounds of it.

14 years and look at the state of it.

  2. By not a ‘top table’ nation, you mean the national side not winning much? Fair enough if that’s the barometer you are using.

As by any other metric England is a powerhouse of the sport and has been for 150 years.

  3. End of the day you just aren’t going to get more than one man and his dog on organised protests on a match day. We saw that in 2012 when the club actually had a big profile, big gates and the fanbase were generally united in thinking this lot were a rum bunch.

Now we’ve a small profile, small gates and the fanbase are anything but united in their views on these owners.

The only chance you have is for it to organically kick off at the ground - we saw it a little bit at the Stoke game, you would at the Coventry game if that game sent us down, but that’s about it.

Here, actual sizeable protest always takes the same form - fans walk away, and we’ll see that again soon enough with the upcoming season ticket sales.

I know nothing about horse race betting thank god. I’ve seen a few guys whose lives have been dominated by it.
How do you bet on a horse not to win ?

On betting exchanges- Betfair being the biggest. Works like a stock/currency market.

You can place back bets as normal, or you can be the ‘bookie’ and lay bets that others will back. So you can lay £1000 on a horse, if the horse wins you lose the grand to whoever backed it with you, if the horse loses you’ll take the grand off whoever backed it with you.

So obviously inside knowledge of a horse’s form/wellness etc could see you clean up as a layer.

Well, the likes of Waggott and Broughton (and Mowbray before them) are or were only interested in feathering their own nests and doing the bare minimum to keep the gravy train rolling on as long as possible.

Why do the owners let them get away with it? Probably because they can afford it and don't care enough and can't be arsed to put more effort in to try and change things and make us successful.

The first paragraph doesn’t happen without the environment the second one has created.
