  1. Yeah I'm full of admiration for him - that was exactly my first reaction. Jeez, do you walk round with your fingers in your ears saying "everything's fine" all the time?
  2. What a pathetic man. He's just a failure in my eyes - failed to produce at Rovers and now opted for the easy life back home. Pathetic - hope he never wears the shirt again.
  3. Interesting read.
  4. Why don't you just admit that he's a good player instead of making little digs at him all the time. You're just looking silly.
  5. Not sure where you got that story from Brownie but it seems to be inconsistent with all the other stories. First of all, we bought Fergie for £6.5m. Secondly, we supposedly still owe Rangers £2.5m of that. Thirdly, it was reported that Rangers first bid offered to wipe out that debt and give us an extra £500,000 - in effect a £3m bid. No idea where they've got the £6m bid from.
  6. It never ceases to amaze me why people think the player, or the clubs involved, would release a players' salary details to the press. The press are just guessing.
  7. Where did that come from?
  8. Total bollux as usual. Makalele can tackle and track back, Ferguson can't. He probably got away with it in Scotland though because the opposition didn't have the ball often enough to hurt Rangers. In the Premiership even the weakest teams are capable of scoring and we can't afford to play someone who can't tackle and track back as a defensive midfielder. Ferguson's strengths are his attacking play, something that Hughes noted quickly, and he needs a workhorse alongside him to get the best out of him.
  9. I'd suggest that Souness has already got several players like Ferguson. Dyer, Jenas, Bowyer, Ambrose, and Millner can all play the attacking, passing midfield role. What Souness needs is a defensive midfielder, especially with Butt injured. In fact, it would make more sense for Souness to bid for Savage rather than Ferguson imo.
  10. Meteora is better. No, it's not.
  11. I've been critical of Ferguson but it will be a blow if he does leave for Rangers. I would also regard Ferguson as a lesser person. He would simply be going back to the easy life he knows he'll get back up there rather than battling it out down here and proving himself in the Premiership. Jan said ages ago that Fergie was a typical Glaswegian home-boy who will never be able to stay away from Glasgow for too long. It seems she may be right.
  12. He did nothing yesterday to show me that he's capable of replacing either Thompson or Emerton yet.
  13. We started the game well and scored with our first meaningful attack, MGP taking the goal superbly. A few minutes later Dickov was put clear to put us two up but he shot straight at their keeper. I'm not sure I've ever seen him score a one-on-one like that - he can't finish when he has time to think about it. Cardiff slowly came back into it and eventually got the equaliser they deserved - Friedel should have saved it though imo. It was all Cardiff then and only some last-ditch, illegal defending kept them out until half-time. The second-half was a non-event. Both teams created little and cancelled each other out. We finished the stronger, had a "goal" ruled out for a foul, hit the bar directly from an MGP corner, but didn't really do enough to deserve the win. Plus points: MGP took his goal very well - a cool finish. Mokoena looked classy. He used the ball well and wasn't frightened to put his foot in - he looks promising. Our defence played well, again, and although Matteo has got plenty of stick for his distribution he still defended well. Minus points: Stead and Dickov were poor. MGP disappeared in the second half and should have been subbed. Ferguson was subbed in the first-half - was he injured? Friedel should have saved the goal but had little else to do. All in all it was a solid display and we continued to look hard to beat, but we still lack creativity and the necessary guile to break teams down. A draw was a fair result and I expect it to be just as difficult in the replay.
  14. I agree that Brum are holding all the cards at the moment. However, come the 30th January it might be a different story. Faced with the prospect of having a player who clearly doesn't want to play for the club rotting in the reserves may force Birmingham's hand into accepting a smaller bid. There's certainly no way I can see that Savage will play for Brum again. So, as long as no-one else comes in for him, they will be forced to sell him to us eventually.
  15. I've been as critical about Fergie as anyone but he has made outstanding performances. Against Newcastle for example. He doesn't do it often enough yet for me but I think he'll improve alongside Savage.
  16. Cardiff don't seem that arsed about the match. Mirror Story.
  17. I think you're being a bit harsh on the officials MB. It's human nature that a referee or linesman is going to be more influenced by 60,000+ people rather than 30,000. It shouldn't happen but it does. I don't think the officials are biased at all, I just think they're human. And I'd rather it stayed that way than have technology ruling the games instead.
  18. No - just seating without a roof.
  19. Completely agree with Tris (see I can do it!). What would have been a fairly run-of-the-mill Premiership evening has now become interesting and something I'm sure you'll all be discussing at some point tomorrow. Take the human element out of the game and you'll take a lot of it's appeal with it.
  20. Will we be able to drink on the bus?

  22. Probably the best Cardiff pub guide I've seen so far. Cardiff Pubs
  23. Can we just get this straight. As others have said, if Savage joins us he isn't going to move into a terrace on Livesey Branch Road. He'll most probably live somewhere like Hale, Wilmslow or Alderley Edge - all about an hour from Brockhall but also about an hour from Wrexham.
  24. Can't be bothered with a big match report - it's all been said already anyway. I was really impressed though with the work-rate of the team today, considering the amount of games recently. We just closed Charlton down all over the pitch and out-worked them. We could, and should, have won by more but we don't seem to do things easily so we had to hang on in the last ten minutes. No matter, hang on we did and we've now opened up a nice little gap between us and the bottom three. Special mention for Todd who was tremendous today and bailed out mistakes from Nissa on a few occasions. And, dare I say, that I thought Flitcroft was excellent again. For the 3rd or 4th game running he's been the most competitive midfielder on the pitch. I also thought Stead put in a much improved performance after a couple of shockers. He just needs a goal. Finally, I thought it was very noticeable how tired Newcastle looked tonight against WBA!
  25. I thought Linkin Park's first album was very good.
