  1. Need a manager who makes players want to come and play for him. Whether you like it or not players such as Fergsuon, Tugay, Dickov (9 clubs in for him!) and a few others would not of come unless GS was the manager. Gone are the days when Blackburn can attract a player because of wages, training ground and facilities. We need all the extra help we can get and that means having a manager people will respect a lot. He might of fallen out with a lot of them but I am sure the Souness factor and his ambitions for the club helped to get Cole etc.
  2. Quite difficult for Ferguson to increase his value when he is not playing due to his injury. He is slowly coming back into stride, few more games yet.
  3. We will now find out how ambitious the club is. As JW said the most important role he plays along with the directors is in appointing the manager. Tony Parkes has gone on record saying a 'big name' will be appointed. We can read into that what we like but it has to be said there has been some shocking suggestions for our new manager made on here by people who know not much about the way football works and much about our players. Fact is a lot of the players came to the club because of our ex managers burning desire not because of Blackburn. Our fantastic set up is an added bonus but it does not sway players to come here. I would like the board to really have a go and try to attract a top manager who has some experience of the Prem League. There is one thing you could never criticise GS for and that was ambition, he obviously doesnt believe the board had the same ideas as he did but he did get a lot of finance to spend so he cant complain too much. It may be a case of a rocky ship when a new manager comes in so I am making my suggestions on that. Hopefully we target (my opinion here) 1- Curbishley- If you dont try you dont get, but would be unlikely to come. 2- Strachan- Easy to get, no compensation but got an ok record of managing in the Prem. Cant really think of anyone else because I havent given it much thought but those are the best and maybe realisitc preferences of a manager in work and out of work!
  4. Yeah Jan, and what a failure he has been. You dont like him as a person, fair enough but I did and that maybe clouded my judgement on him as a manager. It has been looking a bit rocky of late with some bizarre decisions but I think he has left a good squad of players behind and those players only came here because of him.
  5. I wonder what Barry Ferguson must be thinking. We need a manager who can get the respect of the players as they were all mostly bought by Souness. The managers available and who we could get does not inspire me. However Strachan is probably pick of the bunch.
  6. rover6- do you have a clue about what our club is about?? Take it from me when we sign a player it is about can they do a job when then come in not what cash can we get in the future. We are not bothered about that at all. Your comments seem logical but make me really wonder some time. I would go as far to say I am starting to think you are a real pr**k.
  7. http://www.icons.com/home.html He has a section
  8. Been speaking to people who know more about Bothroyd than myself. He is tall, quick and skillful. Been playing well in a poor team and there was interest in him this summer from a few clubs. Its only a loan deal and as Yorke is going he gives us a good option with his pace.
  9. Its hard to judge players in reserve matches.
  10. I take back my earlier comments. Celtic and Brum have both agreed £300,000 deals for Yorke!!
  11. Souness says he is on holiday????
  12. Birmingham agreed fee with us for Yorke
  13. Souness on Sky Best for Dwight and the club- fee agreed for Dwight along with Birmingham matching the fee- Yorke favours Birmingham Souey thinks. Good young striker Bothroyd, had our eye on him for a while.
  14. Just got the text as well. Thought someone was taking the pi*s! Have to confess dont know how he is doing over there, I am sure someone will enlighten us......
  15. Desailly to Celtic as well....
  16. I agree with Yorke going but why the sudden change from GS. Ok his performances this season have been poor. Makes the clubs comments look stupid only a few weeks back. "Dwight has worked very hard in pre-season and Graeme has advised the board that he now wishes to keep the player and any clubs who enquire about him are being advised accordingly." John Williams Maybe buying MGP took a lot of cash and some wages needs to be saved? Just doesnt make sense from GS point of view unless we have a replacement of some sort, even though I think we can do without him.
  17. I would love us to pull out a surprise loan move but it wont happen. Most clubs are happy if they have 4 strikers for selection and we do. Dickov, Stead, Gallacher, Jansen. Some of those who were wanting Jansen ahead of Yorke in the pecking order may soon have there wish. Dont just think of Jansen as invisible as he is firmly part of the squad now.
  18. I would like to know if we have been offering him on loan to Championship clubs? Surely there would be takers. I know he had a spell at Coventry but until he gets a regular amount of games we will never know for sure if he has any of the old magic. He had too much talent not to give one final, last chance.
  19. Have been actively trying to loan him out at all? Just think it would be a bit stupid to sell him as he is probably still our best striker.

  21. 3-5-2 I thought in division one wasnt it?
  22. I cant remember but what was GS like in our first two seasons in the Prem. Tactics wise I am sure we were simple but attratctive 4-4-2. Consistency in team selection because we were winning.
  23. I live in hope or maybe I am dreaming about Jansen returning back to what he was
  24. Maybe I am weird but not an hour goes by and I dont think about Matteo in midfield. I think he is a good defender but NOT a midfielder. Not when everyone is fit anyway. Please put me out of my misery....
  25. The thing that sticks with me is the quality of football we used to play. I honestly thought we played some of the best attacking play in the league under Souness. Even in our first year back up. It is just a shame we have turned to a negative way of thinking trying to be hard to beat instead of actually beating teams on our own attacking merits. Thompson returning to form and the old Matt Jansen are the only thing keeping me going at the moment.
