  1. I really hope its Hughes. Not getting carried away yet though...
  2. Maybe I should stop living in the past. However I saw GS comments about players in their young 20s making mistakes, and how he doesnt blame them because everyone does when they are that age. He goes on to say Dyer needs another chance if he is going to be fair to him. The Dunn incident showed what an arrogant sod Souness is as I dont think he was ever given a proper chance to change GS's view. I really do wonder if he is going to man manage at Newcastle like he did here- it will show whether he reckons he made one too many confrontations here.
  3. George Graham was considered for the Newcastle job. Think he would do ok actually- however I cant see getting him being a delicate situation. As for Hughes being too defensive or attacking, he bascially does what he can with the resources he has got.
  4. I know where you are coming from Kamy. However Dowie is not coming from a position of strength. He is currently in charge of a struggling team who look like this season relegation is inevitable. Hughes obviously believes he can do a good job in club management and he will know how our club works. Hughes will get the players working, he is more clever than you would think. There would be a risk with both possible appointments for reasons set out here as someone else said any appointment we make will be seen as a risk by some people.
  5. Looks like its between Dowie and Hughes. Hughes slight favourite- surely too many factors in his favour. -popular with fans -ex player, likes the club -players seem to want him in! -all 2 of the backroom staff would welcolme him with open arms
  6. Little brat Bellamy on Hughes http://www.itv-football.co.uk/Teams/Blackb...ry_125451.shtml
  7. Hakan Unsal- remember that pass to Dunny
  8. The weirdos on 606 are saying this The Lancashire Evening Telegraph understands that Mark Hughes is ready to be appointed as the next manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Rovers officials are believed to have held talks with Mark Hughes yesterday. He will continue to manage Wales on the short term and assess the situation on their qualifying chances after their next couple of games. He is expected to take charge following the Portsmouth match so his first game is expected to be against Bournemouth which may draw some extra fans for that match.
  9. The link got me going as well until I saw the source being The Sun as I read it already. This waiting game is so boring....
  10. "I will sit down with him so that he understands how I work. But who doesn't make a mistake? I've made them. Who at that age doesn't make a poor decision" It's only if you keep making the same mistakes that you're a dope." Well Souness: Foreign Transfers- Grababi, Dino Baggio and maybe De Pedro.. plus maybe a couple others Formations: 4-5-1 at home, the nice diamond formation with Matteo as our Vieria
  11. Dont know why but this season has got me down already. The new manager whoever he or she is can only improve my mood hopefully. Sorry but A Neild said it all in the telegraph.... Maybe I am living too much in yesterday but where did it all go wrong
  12. Thing with Souness is he is a loud mouth and too honest for his own good. Thats why a lot of our proposed transfer stories leaked out to the press, through agents and his fellow Scottish mate Alan Nixon.
  13. Apparently Newcastle were thinking of appointing George Graham but decided on GS. Dont think he is what we need though! Papers quiet today on any new info regarding the manager- our board must be good at keeping things quiet or discussions about what to do are still taking place. I think a big over reaction to Hughes comments that have come out today, all he said is bascially he hasnt been approached. Problem I dont like for any manager experienced or not is that they are coming straight into a relegation battle!!
  14. Its true about the classy football we used to play. Apart from last season we always played good, nice to watch attacking football. Even when we were in the First Division we managed to play our way out of it. It was maybe due to the individual players we had who could turn it on with a piece of magic. I remember Souness saying he had a major problem before the start of last season- that problem would be the fans expectations, he never really thought we could reach the heights of a Duff, Dunn inspired 6th position again. However after we finshed 6th we all wanted more, it wasnt to be. Seeing him at St James today makes me think, he looks like he was never with us in a way- no reference seemed to have been made to it being a wrench leaving, probably because he knows like us, he had his time here, thank you. Maybe he is too classy for us, he will certainly have millions to spend/waste now. However we are left in the sh*t, looking for a saviour and a leader to galvanise our sorry start to the season.
  15. Or they just dont care.... Seemed they ran out of time and only gave the rest of Prem league action about 6 minutes- he certainly didnt want to comment on it on Football Focus yesterday.
  16. "on another day the result could have been different" "its time now for the players to stand up and be counted" Suppose GS was with us for 4 years so his quotes did get a bit repetitive.
  17. For any team, now is not the time you want to be appoint a new manager. However we dont have much choice in the matter. I agree Moyes would be good, but Everton have started very well this season and the potential is there for them if they maybe spend a bit in January. Moyes seems fairly passionate and loyal to the cause as well. Strachan could be just what we need. He can be a fiery character but he has a soft side to and looks like he can communicate well with players. He seems to talk a good game, which can mean nothing but he does talk sense. He would of learnt from his troubled time at Coventry and he also believes in having quite a stuctured back room staff. Hughes is similar in many respects, however as others are pointing out he doesnt have club management experience.
  18. The topic should be brought up in the studio, so it will be interesting to see Strachan's reaction. They also sometimes preview the morning papers, so we will see what that brings up...
  19. I have to admit I dont like the man. As many people didnt like Souness the man. I am entitled to my view. Anway for you pro-Dowie fans, the Guardian reports that he and Hughes are on the short list for sure. I just hope Sparky gets it.
  20. His buys were panic ones at the end of the window- a number of Premiership clubs were offered those players. If they do well its a lucky fluke from Dowie's part. Yeah you are correct the signings have done well, which is showed in their start to the season. I am not basing the criteria just on what signings have been made. If I was a player I would struggle to get on and train if Dowie's ugly mug was nearby on the training ground. He also seems to have a strange stutter when he talks.
  21. He would be a risk but it looks like whoever we appoint will be a risk. I hope this weekend sheds some light over who the appointment may be because this is starting to do my head in!! I dont know much about the Wales situtation but Hughes seemed to have got the country going again- I see he has got good players at his disposal but he must be doing something right.
  22. I not talking about playing history with Dowie- I am just pointing out his pathetic attempts over the summer to recruit players. I know he had a small budget but it looks from the outside that he has mucked it up. I am stating that I would like Mark Hughes or Strachan. Both ambitous, both passionate and both have a very good footballing brain. I state these in my preference to Dowie.
  23. Hall is the best of a very bad bunch. How can the players even look at Dowie on the training ground- I just hope this is just a rumour, I really do.
  24. Well Martin O Neil surely cannot make as many bad buys as Dowie did this summer. Julian Speroni, Mark Hudson, Emmerson Boyce, Fitz Hall (defender playing in central midfield) The list goes on....
