On Hughes the manager http://newssearch.bbc.co.uk/sportacademy/h...000/2330163.stm
-
Hughes does play direct when Hartson is playing, similar to what Celtic do. It generally works.
-
From- http://www.brscn.com/nyheter.asp?action=visNyhet&id=928 What does this say exactly?? Hughes signed a contract this evening at 8:30 to take over from next Monday Waliseren signet for en time siden BRSCN er som vanlig forst ute, i hele verden, med den offisielle kunngjoringen. Mark Hughes signet for Rovers for ca en time siden.

He had Eric Harrison but he retired last month Come to think of it he probably would put Tony Parkes assistant manager? Anyway I am going to stop speculating unitl he is actually in!
-
I think if it is Hughes expect an assistant manager who is not currently with the Wales set-up. Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki are very good coaches. But it would not surprise me if Hughes brought in an Eric Harrison type figure, someone who he feels he needs as his assistant.

Hughes is a nice bloke was he also an agressive man in his day. Wouldnt worry about him being a Mr Nice guy.

Eddie Niedzwiecki- goal keeping coach I think??? Was at Arsenal, Chelsea. Bowen has a good record of coachng but fell out with Bruce at Brum much to the players surprise. No one really knows what is going on, when anyone was approached. We know Hughes is available but as for Dowie even though he has not inked that contact is he actually available. Leaving Palace for Blackburn may not be on his agenda at the moment.

I really hope its Hughes. Not getting carried away yet though...

[Archived] Souness Goes To Newcastle
John replied to Brownie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Maybe I should stop living in the past. However I saw GS comments about players in their young 20s making mistakes, and how he doesnt blame them because everyone does when they are that age. He goes on to say Dyer needs another chance if he is going to be fair to him. The Dunn incident showed what an arrogant sod Souness is as I dont think he was ever given a proper chance to change GS's view. I really do wonder if he is going to man manage at Newcastle like he did here- it will show whether he reckons he made one too many confrontations here. -
George Graham was considered for the Newcastle job. Think he would do ok actually- however I cant see getting him being a delicate situation. As for Hughes being too defensive or attacking, he bascially does what he can with the resources he has got.
-
I know where you are coming from Kamy. However Dowie is not coming from a position of strength. He is currently in charge of a struggling team who look like this season relegation is inevitable. Hughes obviously believes he can do a good job in club management and he will know how our club works. Hughes will get the players working, he is more clever than you would think. There would be a risk with both possible appointments for reasons set out here as someone else said any appointment we make will be seen as a risk by some people.
-
Looks like its between Dowie and Hughes. Hughes slight favourite- surely too many factors in his favour. -popular with fans -ex player, likes the club -players seem to want him in! -all 2 of the backroom staff would welcolme him with open arms

The weirdos on 606 are saying this The Lancashire Evening Telegraph understands that Mark Hughes is ready to be appointed as the next manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Rovers officials are believed to have held talks with Mark Hughes yesterday. He will continue to manage Wales on the short term and assess the situation on their qualifying chances after their next couple of games. He is expected to take charge following the Portsmouth match so his first game is expected to be against Bournemouth which may draw some extra fans for that match.

The link got me going as well until I saw the source being The Sun as I read it already. This waiting game is so boring....
-
"I will sit down with him so that he understands how I work. But who doesn't make a mistake? I've made them. Who at that age doesn't make a poor decision" It's only if you keep making the same mistakes that you're a dope." Well Souness: Foreign Transfers- Grababi, Dino Baggio and maybe De Pedro.. plus maybe a couple others Formations: 4-5-1 at home, the nice diamond formation with Matteo as our Vieria
-
Its in The Sun tomorrow.
-
Dont know why but this season has got me down already. The new manager whoever he or she is can only improve my mood hopefully. Sorry but A Neild said it all in the telegraph.... Maybe I am living too much in yesterday but where did it all go wrong

Thing with Souness is he is a loud mouth and too honest for his own good. Thats why a lot of our proposed transfer stories leaked out to the press, through agents and his fellow Scottish mate Alan Nixon. -
Apparently Newcastle were thinking of appointing George Graham but decided on GS. Dont think he is what we need though! Papers quiet today on any new info regarding the manager- our board must be good at keeping things quiet or discussions about what to do are still taking place. I think a big over reaction to Hughes comments that have come out today, all he said is bascially he hasnt been approached. Problem I dont like for any manager experienced or not is that they are coming straight into a relegation battle!!

Its true about the classy football we used to play. Apart from last season we always played good, nice to watch attacking football. Even when we were in the First Division we managed to play our way out of it. It was maybe due to the individual players we had who could turn it on with a piece of magic. I remember Souness saying he had a major problem before the start of last season- that problem would be the fans expectations, he never really thought we could reach the heights of a Duff, Dunn inspired 6th position again. However after we finshed 6th we all wanted more, it wasnt to be. Seeing him at St James today makes me think, he looks like he was never with us in a way- no reference seemed to have been made to it being a wrench leaving, probably because he knows like us, he had his time here, thank you. Maybe he is too classy for us, he will certainly have millions to spend/waste now. However we are left in the sh*t, looking for a saviour and a leader to galvanise our sorry start to the season. -
Or they just dont care.... Seemed they ran out of time and only gave the rest of Prem league action about 6 minutes- he certainly didnt want to comment on it on Football Focus yesterday.
-
"on another day the result could have been different" "its time now for the players to stand up and be counted" Suppose GS was with us for 4 years so his quotes did get a bit repetitive.
