v Norwich City (a) - 7/2/26 - 12:31 k/o
John replied to norwichblue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Our attacking play is painfully poor - no creativity, no cutting edge, and not enough quality to create chances. Along with individual errors defensively, it has all the hallmarks…. Really frustrating performances from Yuki, Morishita and Baradji (and others). I would be starting Gudjohnsen, given he’s scored some goals this season. Honestly not sure any new coach / manager can come in and keep us up with this squad. We look down and out. -
Complete insult that Gestede has got anything to do with our club.
-
Oxford have been (so far) worse than us this season, which is some achievement - is their squad that bad or does Rowett take some responsibility..?
-
Don’t like the fact that the Coleman link keeps lingering - you just know it’s going to be a shocking appointment
-
I know some on here are saying they don’t care as much anymore but it angers me seeing the bucket list of shyte being linked with the job - it’s like they have purposely put together a list of coaches / managers you would never dream of appointing - Coleman, Jewell, the Reading guy who I’ve never heard of etc
-
Some of the speculation / names being mentioned must be a wind up or maybe not!? Someone suggested to me yesterday that Venky’s are punishing the fans for daring to speak against them - this can’t be bad judgement anymore.
-
Perhaps not surprising but some truly horrendous names being linked.

Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
John replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Catching up, so not sure if this has already been mentioned… I was listening to the BBC Lancs Nixon interview and, apparently, VI has not been happy with the quality of signings, and problems with Gestede have been brewing for a few weeks. The club is also unhappy that he has not been playing some of the new signings. VI was a poor coach/manager, but - as we know - we are always going to have problems with this structure and the personnel (RG / SS) around it. -
If the rumours are true, no one’s lined up and we haven’t got a clue what to do. Would anyone normal - or not completely desperate - actually consider working for Suhail/Gestede?
-
No one half decent would surely want to work under Gestede? RG has no credibility whatsoever.

Can’t see Gestede wanting to get rid of him - he needs a yes man in place and someone not to rock the boat. -
I always keep an eye on the managers and coaches who did well with us - from Sparky, Souness, Eustace, etc. I’ll always be grateful for the good and better times. As for Eustace, fair play to him. He’s a hell of a lot better than the sack of **** Ismael we have to put up with.

Any news or update on the club reversing the LT ban or is it permanent!?

Sums up our depressing situation. Gestede (and VI) would massively struggle to find their next roles when they do leave. Perhaps a (very) desperate low-level European club might take a punt on VI, but Gestede has no chance. -
Assume there will be a response to the club’s (pathetic) statement. It raises serious questions about the continued silence on key issues. The ongoing lack of respect for the fans, combined with the club’s arrogance and contempt, is simply not acceptable.

Norwich will be OK I reckon - squad is not relegation material and Clement has made a positive impact so far.

Rudy is far too arrogant to sack him - doing so would be an admission that his project is wrong / not working, and he wouldn’t want to disrupt the longest transitional phase in history. -

What is VI’s actually preferred formation? I can’t remember, we went to three at the back because of Cantwell’s injury and our general injury issues? But now we’ve stuck rigidly to it ever since. I’m not saying our woeful results are purely a formation issue; I just don’t think he has a clear idea of how best to set the team up. -

Looks like VI gave up on today’s match - not as animated on the touchline as in recent games. He kept looking down and seemed like he had no ideas… -

If the squad has not regressed then has the head coach / coaching staff regressed…!? -
Good summary. I find myself swaying - very occasionally, we demonstrate that we are solid mid-table material. But more regularly, our lack of quality throughout the squad makes me think we are in for an almighty struggle, especially with a coach who has an overall poor record when it comes to winning football matches. That said, I do feel some other clubs are in a spot of bother (e.g. Oxford), and with only two spots left, that makes me feel a little more confident…

You can see why Portsmouth have been struggling. They were very poor in the first half and we were relatively comfortable going into HT. The second half was shocking, and the worry is always that we’ll concede.
