  1. after reading the little snippett on the beeb website, the anticipation is growing that dunny might just be coming home. there is no doubt in my mind that he is an extremely talented footballer, but the potential is still there to be realised. as phil said, if he does come back then hopefully his health can be managed properly, much in the same way that we did with bellars and look what he did when we got him fully fit!

  2. i have seen from sergio that when he is playing and he don't get what he wants on the field he starts to whinge and complain. and as the match goes on you can tell by his body language that he is still thinking about those decisions that went against him, hence the almost red card at west ham. good potential and very promising but his temperament is bad and needs working on.

  3. It would be a total waste of money.

As you say, we dont fill what we have now so how would making the place bigger help things ;)

totally agree cocker. this type of thread has been brought up a few times in the past and as always i will sayy that there is totally no logic in expanding the ground whatsoever!

  4. considering the current form slump that we are in, this games brings on even more significance and importance. we need to arrest the dip in form and secondly within touching distance of qualification for the knock-out phase of the uefa cup. a win would totally boost the morale of the squad, and whilst a draw wouldn't be a bad result, a loss would be very dissapointing and put more pressure on the lads on all fronts.

i don't make scoring predictions, but i just hope we win the game and get the 3 pts.

  5. this is my team for wednesday because i think we shouldnt try and win the cup involves two many games we should rest the first team players and play

    brown

    neil todd ooijer McEvely

    mokoena

    bentley peter

    gallagher

    jeffers roberts

probably not a bad shout for the starting 11 on wednesday. no matter what team chelsea have on wednesday, it is gonna be one that will look capable of winning the premiership anyway. for me this is a very important game and we should under no circumstance go out to lose the match, bearing in mind our invovlment in the uefa cup.

i say this because it is a chance for the lesser likes to really show sparky and the coaching staff what they can do against the top teams in england, thus giving us an even stronger first choice 11.

  6. Just letting all you sydneysiders know that we are having a get together on saturday 4th of november at approximately 2pm. the venue is the lord nelson, near to the rocks. me and sydney rovers will be there so the more people that come the better.

Poita - maybe you could make this date, if you aint doing anything, to meet faces old and new :)

  7. i saw the pushing and shoving and when they siad on commentary about possible racial abuse, then mentioned Mijailovic, i thoguht "well that don't surprise me".

anyway, if rovers have reported this to uefa, then in my mind unless some uefa officials actually heard or witnessed the racial slurs, then i can't foresee to much punishment being dished out, because all it is is a case of our word against their's.

  8. ok, we all know by now that lucas is not moving away from from rovers for footballing reasons, unfortunately to fill his pockets. however on the off chance that it was for footballing reaons, then where (other than rovers) would he go that it is gonna be a top notch club and one that is moving forward? none of the teams that have been mentioned in the telegraph could offer lucas as much promise as what we could.

NEWCASTLE - best thing about them is the support they get anywhere and everywhere.

WEST HAM - never gonna challenge for honours domestically, already out of the uefa cup, bottom half of the table all the time and will not be their captain.

LIVERPOOL - their back four, lucas will not get infront of any of them and they are a long way off winning the title.

SPURS - never have a settled team from one season to the next.

the best option for him is to go to the nou camp - barcalona, the history and name speaks for itself. challenging for the spanish title every season, playing with world class players every week, and awsome pay packet and a fabulous lifestyle!!

when he leaves rovers, that is where i want him to go!!

Will have to have another sess in the Nelsen, and back to your favourite curry house afterwards ;)

what on earth are you referring to ste...

that is sr's fave joint, but does a cracking banquet though. by the way Sydney Rovers...if the test match is finished before the final day in sydney, then count me and my pal in for a good session of ale at the nelly.

  10. west ham is a decent trip, going down there, but trying to get home again afterwards is a royal pain in the arse. have to agree with others too, about palace being a ###### of a place to get to and from, 30+ quid to sit on wooden seats, what is going on. one of my fave trips is southampton, it is so easy to get to and very easy to get home after the match aswell. boro is a cracking trip...that boat outside the stadium is fantastic

  11. the strange thing about newcastle is that as individual players, they have some very good players, but collectively and as a team...they just seem to flatter to deceive season after season. i know that lucas will leave rovers, but if the lad has his head screwed on, then he will either sign the contract on offer or go to barca.

  12. poida...LOL

the lord nelson just round the corner from the rocks, is a favoured watering hole when i am in sydney. does a good pint and they also have alternative beers, like what we have never heard of before...it is also a nice place to drink. i know sydney rovers will be in on that, but hey....since when has he turned down the chance for a good session

lets get options from other folks who know sydney too!!

  13. we where the better side in the first hour of play, they battered us for the last 30 mins. on the whole we deserved a point. david bentley was very good today, proving also that you don't need to charge past a full back at break neck speed to get a good cross into the box. his distribution into the box at times was beckham-esq!

ooijer was excellent again today, as was zurab. as a matter of fact the whole back four played very well, and while i am at it, we almost certainly should have had a penalty, for the hyypia nudge on nonda.

  14. aya dave.

personally speaking, the new year would be perfect for me. as you lads know i am in sydney for the test match, and along with my pal who is coming over from england, we would love to meet up with you all again. I am hoping that the new year would suit and be more convenient for everybody, cause as you say, there is a chance that more rovers fans will be in town for the test match.

can't wait to tasts that blue tongue at the nelly!!

  15. LOL!! :wstu: As if a true Rovers fan wouldn't know what it meant!!

Ricky - I was thinking of the same thing but only on my upper arm, as i haven't got any other tats and don't know how much its going to hurt

northernrover....surely you realised when you posted this, that if i saw it you would get some stick?? are you having a laugh!! i am still laughing at the thought of you getting a tattoo. imagine what mother would say, although sis would think it pretty cool.

if you do get one, the places that hurt the least are the arms, (upper). but in general you do tend to feel tattoos more when they are done in areas that have more tissue or muscle. my rovers tattoo is pretty much similar to the badge with just wordage around it. I do have two more, but not possible foe me to take pics and put them on here.

  16. Why do you come on here , Jan ? You must realise we're a predominantly English lot ..

bp - it is cause she has nothing to contribute in an intellectual discussion about football, so her only way of coming up with anything is by slagging people all the time.

but cut her some slack phil, she must be one of those women whom are not overly endowed with knowledge when it comes to the world game.
