  1. That is a massive negative imo and tells me much more about the place thna the original 0/5!

Only 3/5 after all that time and notice to clean up their act!!! Should be able to eat off the bloody floor down there right now. Not good enough really is it? imo it displays an extreme 'couldn't care less / the main of our customers don't mind too much about food hygiene so sod the authorities' defiant attitude.

BnWR..... your uncle needs to sack off that manager pronto and advertise the fact widely too! Otherwise they have just lost an avid fan!

Certainly is not the attitude. The point will be raised the next time I am in contact with my uncle and hygiene is a very important part of the restaurant.

  2. Theno - I can assure you that it was Saudi, otherwise I may need to visit Vegas for those dates he bought back, and I don't mean the women haha!!

Sparky, you do as you please. Full bookings every weekend and pretty much full every weekday clearly shows it's overrated. I'm sure you won't be missed. :-)

Oh, seen as we're in the food topic. Went to an Italian place in Batley, near Leeds called Godfathers. Absolutely brilliant. Big fan if Calzone and this was spot on. Do a wide variety of Pizzas all freshly made and do some lovely chicken fillet steak!

  3. B&W: thanks for the explanation, the 0 mark seemed very out of place and one could only come to the conclusion that something was dreadfully amiss. Anyhow my past meals there have been good and I look forward to eating there again.....just make sure the keys are available next time or else we (me !) will think the worse.

Believe me when I first heard about it, my reaction was the same as yours as I was in shock. I have been Bukhara numerous times and never has there been an issue with the hygiene as far as I am aware. However, once I got a chance to speak to my Uncle, he explained what had happened and said it was unfortunate that the inspector didn't show leniancy towards them by giving them an extension to produce the certificates (i.e. when the manager returned). I guess he was just doing his job and rightly so, refused.

Talking of Bukhara, I currenty have a new favourite dish and that is the Chilman Biryani. Must try next time you go!

  4. Well I'm really surprised at that, I wonder if they'll now do the usual trick and change the name of the place to beat the adverse publicity.

    0/5 - Shocked!

Seen as the owner is my uncle, I can clarify as to the reasoning behind this. The manager at the time was away in Saudi Arabia (Hajj), and they had a visit from the hygiene inspectors. The hygeine certificates for each employee are kept in the managers office cabinet and locked away. As part of the inspection they require to produce these certificates for each individual employee and my Uncle was unable to access the cabinet due to not having keys. For this reason, the inspection was given a 0.

However since then, another inspection has been booked and they are due to come round to inspect these certificates and the premises again. I was at Bukhara last night and assure you the hygiene is perfectly fine and the food is as brilliant as ever.

  5. What a fight Pacman v Marquez was! Both down in the early rounds then a devastating punch by Marquez knocked Pacquaio out cold for 2 minutes. Caught him flush in the face with a second to go in the round.

That's now 2 defeats on the bounce for Manny, and although the one vs Bradley was controversial, I think we can kiss goodbye to Pacquaio vs Mayweather.

  6. Another cracking fight this weekend. Pacman v Marquez Part 4. I thought Marquez won the last one, but somehow judges gave it to Manny. Will be interesting to see how Marquez approaches this, with him stating in the press conference he'll need a KO to convince the judges.

Amir Khan also fighting next week agaisnt Molina (sp?). Easy fight for Khan to ease him in after his defeat to Garcia.

On Flintoff, what an embarassment the guy was to the sport of boxing. I was livid beforehand, and more so after the fight after watching him punch like a girl (sorry to the ladies reading this). The fight should never have been a professional fight and if he wanted to step into the ring so badly, he could have organised a charity event for Sport Relief. Absolute joke.

  7. Sad end for Ricky. That was a tough opponent for a comeback after 3 1/2 years.

Very tough opponent who had only lost once prior to this fight. It typifies the man Hatton is though, never really shirked a challenge and for me was very much in the fight prior to the KO.

He has retired now, so lets hope he continues his rehab and this for me, will be his biggest challenges to date.

  8. Is kebabish an eat in type place vintage or do they deliver? What do you recommend from there?

It's a decent place to eat in and also do takeaways. I had 3 curries on Friday night.

    Lamb Karahi

    Chilli chicken curry

    Takatak boti masala

It was very nice, however nothing compared to the brilliant Bukhara.

  9. Bukhara really does set the standard for IndoPak cuisine. It is stand out alone at the top of the pile imo BWR.

'Chilman Biryani'.... it's not on the on line menu. It's prob new so I'll give it a try soon on your recommendation. I usually get stuck on the fantastic Afghani Lamb Tikka for starters and either Gosht alu Bukhara / Lamb Dopiaza for main. One of these days I'm going to go with 2/3 mates and order that roast leg of lamb on the specials. Every time I've seen it it looks amazing.

btw 1.. Do you think if I did they'd get humanely slaughtered lamb for me and non of that inhumanely killed variety? It's the only thing that tempers my admiration for such well prepared and presented Pakistani meat dishes.

btw 2..Any discount if I mention your name and pay with the folding stuff?;)

The Chilman Biryani has been a recent addition to the menu (I say recent, been over a year). Thoroughly enjoyable and different, definitely recommend the dish.

The leg of lamb i best if you pre-order it a good few days in adavance. This allows the chef to marinate it accordingly. I've not tried the stuffed lamb leg, but I really do enjoy the normal one on offer.

On the slaughtering part Theno, I honestly don't know.

If you did mention my name he'd charge you double

Just out of curiousity, have you tried the salads there?

  10. Went Bukhara again last night and absolutely brilliant once again. If anyone does go there here is what I usually order:

    Greek salad

    Chicken Salad

    Poppadoms

    Pickle Tray

    Mixed Grill

    King Prawns

    Lamb Chops

    Handi Ghosht

    Chilman Biryani (My favourite)

    Naan Bread

    Drinks

    Apple Tarte

    Ras Malai

Every single item was fantastic. My favourite the Chilman Biryani has lamb biryani and then a layer of pastry over it, and that really adds that little sweetener to the dish, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Personally for me, it is the best curry place in the North West. My uncle is the owner of the place and has told me that many people from across the country have come to try out their food. Recently they have been fully booked over the weekends and Friday night.

  11. -Hey

-As you can tell by my username i am a rovers fan who lives in canada, i became a rovers fan around three years ago. And with the recent performances by Hoilett i was wondering if any you gents/ladies had a hoilett jersey for sale. If not i would appreciate it if you could refer to me to a place where i can buy his jersey and have it shipped to canada. I have look for Rovers merchandise for a while but football shops over here usually only have gear for the top 4 teams, and websites in the states refuse to ship to canada.

-Anyways any help you could offer would be appreciated

    Thanks

    C.R.F

Try our official website. I think they do ship out to other countries. Should be able to buy a normal jersey with name and number on the back.

  12. Never got the chance to see him play. However, his name was always mentioned with the history of Blackburn Rovers. I wish I did get the chance to see him play, because he seems like one of the professionals we seem to lack in this day and age.

There's only one Ronnie Clayton! brfcsmilie.gif

I would like to pass on my condolences to his family from myself and from all the Rovers fans.

  13. Watched Hot Tub Time Machine last night - very average but watchable. I don't think it was sure if it wanted to be a comedy or not.

also watched Toy Story 3 which I really enjoyed.

I thought it was rubbish. Waste of time and money. Didn't really enjoy the whole flashback thing going on during the film.
