  1. West Brom 1-2 Rovers

I think we will be nowhere near relegation come season end.

We have had an awful 6 weeks but prior to that we were comfortable in the top half of the table and most season only a few points outside top 6.

With Gally, Hedges ,Dolan, Pears and most importantly JRC to return , along with a couple of signings to strengthen the squad we will finish top 10.

The dissatisfaction around Morton centred around the fact he was keeping Adam Wharton (who imo is an infinitely better player) out of the side.

How much further on would Wharton be in his development now if he'd had more gametime last season.

Braithwaite WAS crap for us and  also managed to get himself ridiculously sent off as well as I recall.

Braintwaite actually started ok for us but then that incident happened v Boro with his high boot when he nearly took Dael Fry's eye out and Warnock lost the head ,after that Braintwaite was poor I agree.

And id have no problem if people were saying "he isn't ready " " he isn't what we need" etc

What I find laughable is people saying with such certainty a young player won't make it and will end up in league one or two after very limited viewing

In proportion with more experienced players, one or two youngsters on loan is fine, as long as the primary aim of the club is to win games.

People can try and defend it all they like, but the fact is we have quite blatantly been reduced to no more than a development club with zero ambition.

The argument that we are having to do it is neither here nor there in my book.

It’s the final season I am going to tolerate it.

Sigurrdson,Szmodic ,Brittain, Tronstad and Hyam all signed in the last 2 seasons

Both shite . But to be honest could play markanday and would make any difference

Would be very suprised if he makes it to the prem. Personally think he will be in league 1 or 2 in the not too distant future

Just doesnt have that fight  Might be technically good . But everything else is poor.

Sorry but I'm not having that ,he started the season well ,Moran is clearly rated at Brighton. So because he has had a poor 6 weeks it means he will end up in league 1 or 2?

This happens every season (not saying you obviously) a young loanee becomes the scapegoat. Morton last season uproar because people reckoned only reason he was playing was because we faced financial penalties yet this season he starts every week for Hull who have been in and around the playoffs

Before that Braithwaite....many on here saying he was shocking and will end up in league 1 or 2, yet here we are now he starts every week in the premier league, is being tipped for an England call up and a transfer to a top club

If he can't recover from a couple of poor performances he's in the wrong profession.

Will this lad from Villa be an automatic starter or a bench warmer? If the latter the whole thing is completely pointless unless the idea is to shift Battys wage off the wage bill and get the PL Club to pay for their man in exchange for game time.

Batty hasn't even been on the bench Rev in months.

Like someone else said , Travis and Brittain played left back when Pickering was out, Batty wasn't even on the bench.

He is clearly not seen as ready to play for the first team, Iv no idea about this fella from Villa never seen him play but quite clearly JDT and the recruitment side think he is a better option than Batty at this stage.

Batty might push on and be ready next season I do not know. But when he has played for the first team he has not looked up to it yet.

    1970 me ...you ?

Couldn't give a toss about what other teams do . Stop being a sheep fan and use our supposedly strength..the all singing award winning academy or is that another lie being peddled by those kissing the owd hags arse

    .

So we should just play every academy youngster no matter if they are good enough or not.

We give the youngsters opportunity here.I don't think there is another side in the championship (maybe Bristol City) who gives more first team opportunities to their academy players than us.

  7. 4 minutes ago, RevidgeBlue said:

But the only way forward in the long term is to play our own youngsters for better or worse in the very short term.

As Abbey says we gain absolutely nothing from a short term loan of a middling PL youngster apart from denying our own players experience. There will of course be the occasional exception like Elliott but he's been very much the exception rather than the rule.

Not if they ain't ready or good enough sure fire way to derail a youngsters career.A couple of bad performances and he would always be "shit" by many.

The club can hardly be criticised for a lack of opportunities given to our own academy players can it?They get chances here.

Better option is to try find a loan for Batty in league one or more likely league two

1 assist no goals in last 10 games

Yeah like I said in the last 6 weeks he has been poor along with most the side.

It's his first season of senior football, I'm sure the plan wasn't for him to play as much as he has, but with no Dolan, no JRC, and no Gallagher needs must.

    Shall we start Markanday instead?

Who cares ? We are only developing these players for another team,  it's pathetic how  low the slumdogs have taken us.  Imagine when they took over us at 8th in the Premier that we would become a development  club for Bournemouth and Brighton.  Imagine we would be a better option than Luton.

Hate this loaning players malarkey and gaining nothing from it whatsoever apart from our own players losing experience especially when we have this so called elite academy.

    Venkys out

Is this your first year watching the championship?

Nearly every team , every season loans young players from the premier league.

We had Hill and Moran loaned first half of season ,some clubs have 3..4..5 young players on loan from Premier league clubs.

Every season the club are called out on here for using the loan market and I have no idea why ....every team including teams that have just got relegated from the premier league loan in young players

Excellent player, very disappointed to see him go and reinforces the daft decision to let Phillips go

The daft decision to let Phillips go?

He had a release clause in his contract the club didn't have a choice in the matter .

And before you criticise us for putting the clause in, again we had no choice he wouldn't have signed the contract with us and we would have lost him a year earlier for a couple of hundred grand

Frankly who cares, he isn't our player, we won't see him again after this season and like Morton last season he seems to have clocked off for the season early having decided that our problems aren't his concern.

And the other players have been in terrific form I suppose?

Iv seen a lack of quality in Moran and most others in the team  over the last 6 weeks but I haven't witnessed this lack of effort with Moran that you are speaking of

Moran has been awful for last 10 games or so.

    Weak

    Soft

    And offers zero threat.

Getting to the point I want dolan back to take his place which says it all as I don't rate dolan.

Wouldn't gibe a monkeys if he was recalled tomorrow

Zero threat? He leads our assist charts with 8.

He has had a poor 6 weeks, as have a number of other players.

It's also his first season playing senior football.

Yes I would, just like I would’ve kept Buckley. And no I don’t take as gospel anything that comes out of this club and that includes JDT. Face being saved all round.

But if he was really angling to go ‘twice’, sell him then, either now or in May after helping the team for three months or so - that’s ’the model’ isn’t it? Not short term loans to sides in the same league, as that looks very ‘finance driven’ to me.

I don't believe everything the club says either. What I do know is no way Travis would be happy with the situation he found himself in and sometimes it's better to part as a chance it disrupts the squad

JDT was visibly disappointed with the Buckley loan and said as much , I didn't get that vibe from him over Travis in that BBC lancs interview.

We obviously need to offload to bring players in and maybe we would have sold him if we had a suitable offer

Top earners? Maybe, but he’s not going to be on a fortune as a standard Championship player that came through the academy.

Of course, at a normal club you keep him around, fight your way back in the side like Scott Wharton has done, and he can also slot into right back where we have one fit player for that position (and he’s in dodgy form and has been injured at times himself).

It’s a squad game, and ours is small, stretched and inexperienced to boot- but hey ho, if the club is literally hand to mouth now, then off he goes,  just like Buckley.

You keep him around even though he has asked to leave twice and keeps saying to the manager he wants to play as a 6?

Iv no doubt that finance played a part but at the same time I can't think of many players going into their prime who are club captain, used to playing every week but then benched and stay at that club .He hasn't started a game in midfield since October

  15. I don't know why Broughton and Waggott are being labelled the same

Broughton strikes me as an intelligent enough guy and ambitious.Worked with Norwich at an underage level and in a recruitment role, went abroad to Glint , did all his badges and then onto here.

We are Waggotts retirement fund, it does no favours for Broughton bringing poor players here and having buttons to spend , unless his sole ambition is to be Dof of a Venky owned Rovers for the rest of his career

Plenty of experienced players available on free transfers

Like who?If they were any good they would have other clubs after them who in all probability could trump us on wages.

Broughton has a tough job here and under the circumstances is doing a decent enough job.

As said previously Szmodic,Tronstad and Hyam all signed under his watch and 3 of our most important players, add Brittain and Sigurrdson that's 5 players he has added to the first 11 since his arrival
