The polish duo of Bielik and Helik would be my realistic scavenge of the teams going down.  Drameh/Demebele etc I can see others after.

Rathborne out of contract, or Odoffin at Rotherham would be a pick from them if we had to.  Purely utility players.

Dembele is overrated on here ,any team he has been at he spends a lot of time on the bench and his scoring record is shite too

He barely played at all but he definitely at least played sometimes as a number 10. I remember watching the game in which he scored for them when the ball just hit him and he played behind 2 strikers and they played wing backs.

Certainly didnt play as a 6 as that is a CB's number. Traditionally anyway.

But either way, gone off point. The original point was that teams might be less enthusiastic about loaning us players considering how poor our loan signings have been this season and how they have barely played.

I seen the video interview.Ayari said he was a number 6 or number 8.

Just pointing out he wasn't brought in as a ten like you had said in that post

Doesnt sound like something Venkys would purr over. Spending 1m when as far as they are concerned, we already have 2 goalkeepers. They arent too bothered if they are any good or not.

He wouldnt come here I dont think anyway, he should get a better move on bigger wages elsewhere. Giving Rotherham a supposed sweetener in Wahlstedt would make no difference to negotiations as anyone can activate that release clause. Plus no way would Steve Evans want Wahlstedt anyway.

Based on the one cameo he had, I suspect the only chaos Koumetio would have caused would have been in our own defence. You look at the levels that his previous 2 loans were at and then consider that he couldnt even get regular gametime at those clubs, and you can maybe understand why he hasnt been used here, clearly a very late and desperate move.

Pickering is a solid left back at this level and was a key part in the teams that finished 7th and 8th. He is being hung out to dry at the moment under Eustace in a position that doesnt suit him. But Chrisene isnt better than him.

Ayari has had a mixture of ineffective cameos and ones where he has had somewhat of an impact, he was decent yesterday. But he came as a number 10 which was one position we didnt need, but with the shit show of a window we had losing Travis and then Wharton, the only place he has had a chance of getting game time in is deeper. I wonder if he could be trusted in that position.

Either way, the point is valid that clubs may be less likely to loan us players having seen how little this seasons batch has finished.

Ayari didn't come as a number ten day after he signed he said he was a number 6 or 8 and spoke with the coach about playing in that position.

He didn't play 10 for Coventry either

  4. He will meet the extras(most likely already met one by making his under 21 debut)so it's a deal worth 22.5 million rather than 18 and it's said we have a sell on so we will get a percentage of any future fee.

I was gutted to see him sold and should have held on until summer but as a championship player I don't think we would have got much more for him as a championship club,he hadn't even been involved with the England under 21 squad because he played for us so just my opinion I think it's fanciful to think we would have got much more for him than we did

Obviously I'm fuming that the owners have put us in the position where our most talented player is being sold to Crystal palace and Szmodic being linked with Luton

£18 million and yes - Palace will be selling him for £40/£50 million in 18 months.

Id agree it was a small price but while playing for a championship club we wouldn't have seen anything like 40-50 million for him,and although I'm sure Wharton would have seen the season out with us he would have wanted to move up a league by summer, with more teams possibly bidding we could have got maybe 25 mill like Bournemouth got for Scott.

When funds are low and you are in a relegation battle surely you are better of spending those little funds that you have on someone who can help you in that relegation battle.

Agreed but are there many players that could have been signed for £500 k(in installments) in January and the likely low wage that O'Riordan will be on that could have had an immediate impact?

We had been trying to get that O'Riordan deal done early doors in January and reported we tried last summer so was a long term target of the club and could potentially still be a good signing longer term.

We didn't have a pot to piss in as evidenced by who came in in January, so agree the money could have been spent on someone that was ready to play now but I'd have no confidence they would have been any good like the rest of our January signings and the majority of our summer signings with the exception of Tronstad and to a lesser extent Hill

He probably will but he wasn't signed to play for the under 21's. We signed three centre halves in January and between them they probably haven't reached double figures in first team appearances.

O'Riordan was signed with the future in mine though to be fair, bought for his potential.

You don't see many under 21 centre halves coming from league 2 and straight into the action for a Championship side.

Only in time will we see if that money was well spent or not .I do take the argument that the fee could have been used on a player more ready to aid us this season but what does 500k in installments get you these days

    what big error?

he and Wharton keep Adam Armstrong quiet all game apart one early chance.

I wanted Hyam to be captain at the start of season and I would still keep him Captain for next season and beyond.

Pears should have smashed it away instead of messing around with it which lead to the first goal

Next season and beyond? He is only contracted till 2025.I think he will be gone in the summer

Mikey Johnston of WBA resembling Damien Duff with his jinking run in highlights of their loss to Leicester. One of the best but rarer sights in football, I think.

Looks like they have quietly assembled a very good team. There’s a great assist from Kipre in the game too. I vaguely remember him being linked with Rovers.

Edit: Just watching a few more highlights of Johnston and he really does play in the style (if not level) of Duff. Has a similar running and shooting style.

Johnston only on loan with them from Celtic .

    Looks a real talent

The window opens in 7/8 weeks, they need to get their ducks in a row, agree a budget and start narrowing down the list of targets.

    If we're allowed to spend, i'd be over the moon with something like the following;

    Duncan McGuire - Free
    Louie Sibley - Free
    Liam Millar - 2.5m
    Harrison Burrows - 4m
    Karamoko Dembele - 800k
    Abu Kamara - 2.5m

That'd be just shy of 10m spent, incredibly optimistic and unlikely I know, but could become more of a possibility if/when we sell Szmodics.

Either way, I hope Gregg is able to spend a good few quid with all of the millions we've had (and have) coming in.

Why would we be getting McGuire on a free?He will cost a transfer fee

Not sure if Sibley out of contract at end of season but he wouldn't be free either as he is only 22

Do you seriously think that we are going to be signing better players than Travis and Buckley this Summer ? What with - magic beans ?

Well we did get Tronstad on a free who is better than them both.

Not advocating selling either of them as it would probably be a cheap loan or nobody with this convenient block on sending funds over   ,I would have sold Travis if JDT was still manager but he will have a clean slate under Eustace, tho I don't see him playing ahead of Tronstad or JRC and being out of the team here left Travis moaning behind the scenes etc reportedly

I take people's point that we probably wouldn't sign better and would keep them both but at the same in Travis case going from being a regular starter and captain to being a bench player he won't want that and will be pushing to move away and rarely an unhappy player pushing for a move is kept on at any club, they get the move

He signed one just over four months ago

Wonder if a transfer fee clause is in it?

Whatever we get for him in the summer we can be sure Peterborough will get a chunk of it.Hopefully Waggott learned his lesson and didn't agree to 40% like with Arma.

I'd go the same, if we had a half competent keeper waiting in the wings he'd be in for Pears but alas, we don't.

As good as JRC can be, I thought he was poor overall yesterday and we looked better when he went off. He's painfully slow as well.

I'd consider Ayari in his place tbh.

Id put JRC at RB ,Ayari in midfield and Brittain on the bench

Why promote 15 year olds to the first team (when that just puts them in the shop window for other clubs)? Another example of the absolutely shambolic running of this club

Presumably he is put in the first team as other clubs  have already expressed an interest and the club including him in our match Day squad is to try encourage him to sign a deal here

In this day and age clubs are aware of the better young players at other clubs.Finneran had already won player of the year of his age group for the Irish national team before any inclusion in our first team

Tyler Morton (yes him) actually started in CM last week for the u21s. A.Wharton wasn't even in the squad originally, get your head around that!

The England setup is far too biased to big clubs. There's no way Morton would be anywhere near the squad if he was a permanent Hull player, rather than on loan from Liverpool.

Morton isn't better than Wharton, and correct their is bias but Morton has done well for Hull this season and I don't think he was as awful as made out last season. He has been a regular starter for 2 seasons running for teams in and around the top 6 the majority of the season.

When he did get a game for Liverpool he wasn't that bad , impressing in both the Milan champions league game and away to Spurs in the premier league in an important match when Klopp left other more experienced players out.Im not suggesting he is Liverpool level but he is one of the better young midfielders at championship level and he would be around the England under 21 squad imo regardless of his Liverpool connection, still a joke Wharton wasn't in the initial squad this time when he is playing every week in the premier league
