Wilkinson is pretty well informed and this would not surprise me at all.
I don't think the club has a shred of credibility left.
Goodness knows what other clubs, players and agents (other than those already on the Rovers' gravy train) think of us.
It would be odd if they were doing that with Gallagher on deadline day.
Why turn down multiple cash bids for Gallagher from Ipswich, to then make him available after Ipswich had filled that position by signing Moore and the striker from Wimbledon?

So.... even in that scenario we'd have been no worse off on the pitch as he offers absolutely nothing but at least we'd have had some money in the Bank.
Obviously in an ideal world he should have been sold and replaced at zero net cost by the younger Mcguire.
As for Broughton, bullshitter extraordinaire. I had to try very hard not to throw the phone out of the car window listening to that pile of smarmy shite. The main purpose of the interview seemed to be to blow smoke up his arse but on the odd occasion a difficult question arose he completely ducked it.
Clearly only here for his own betterment financially and also only interested in selling players. Well I'm glad he's glad that we're keeping the "big" Clubs happy and that we're seemingly on a mission to find a home for our best young talent away from Ewood Park.
Why is no-one at the Club interested in US doing well on the pitch or winning football matches?
If you listened to the interview then you would have heard him say that he believes the main reason he got the job was due to his background in academy football.
It is the board or owners who have decided to go down that route, they obviously want the first team squad heavy with minimal spending in the transfer market. So in essence if it isnt Broughton it will just be another with an academy background and no experience of being a dof.
The interview was good in my eyes for the reason alone that once again Waggott has been found out lieing to supporters who have gone to see him for a chat.
Waggott claimed that both Hyam and Szmodic were on existing transfer lists from the previous regime and that JDT was already on the management shortlist before Broughton arrived.
Before you ask why do I believe Broughton and not Waggott.Broughton answered the questions put to him that would be broadcasted for many people to see whilst Waggott hides in his office telling fans fairytales

One thing that he did clearly dismiss was this myth that Szmodics and Hyam were already serious transfer targets before he arrived
Yeah what a bullshitter Waggott is.Broughton also explicitly said in that interview that he asked for JDT to be added to the shortlist.Waggot was telling fans on here ,that he had already been identified prior to Broughton's arrival.
Good interview I thought, the majority of the recruitment has been woeful this season but anyone would find it hard in those circumstances, budget changing every 2 minutes.
Interesting he made a point of saying "Iv been told " when asked about the budget this coming summer his demeanor suggested to me he wasn't holding his breath.
Also how he stated how he feels the main reason of him getting the job was due to his academy background. So any fans expecting a wheeler dealer type with heavy experience in this sort of role to be a replacement are going to be disappointed.
This fella might not be any good at his job, I personally don't feel it's been woeful when you consider the conditions he has had to work under but he certainly doesn't deserve anywhere near as much grief as those above him.

This is what is rubbing a lot of fans the wrong way, myself included.
Trying to bullshit the fans about things they've just seen with their own eyes is not the best plan, when you've just walked through the door.
I haven't been overly keen on his sound bites either but I do think some of the criticism for them is way over the top.
Like for example I have seen him being called all sorts of names on Facebook more than on here for suggesting that Plymouth didn't create much in the match , but the interview I read he was referring to after we went down to ten men and they didn't create as many clear cut chances after it.
And then today an article in the telegraph and Eustace is saying the timing of our press being off was his reasoning for us being so open and Plymouth getting good chances prior to the sending off ,and that he had tweaked things tactically at HT but due to McFadzean being sent off we didn't see it being implemented

In this article Eustace is quoted as saying Tronstad and Hedges might be available for tomorrow.
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/march/04/fleck-to-miss-the-rest-of-the-season/
He said Hedges didn't train today but might be ok for the weekend, Tronstad touch and go for tomorrow night
-
Pray to god Tronstad is back midweek.
We have looked better at home under Eustace, grew into the game against Norwich and excellent against Newcastle, even if not credited with the Stoke win he did have an influence and even Johnson said that himself, so a little hope we will see better than we did today in the following two games.
Eustace is getting very limited time with the players when we are playing 3 games per week, more away games more travelling and these players have gone way down in my estimation during this terrible run fecking useless.Thats not an endorsement of Eustace as I'm unsure of him myself , Ancellotti would struggle to get a tune out of some of these players too
Whoever the manager the squad needs investment, but if we do stay up and the budget is as poor or more likely lower next season then Broughton and Kimberley needs replacing as they have done shit with limited funds.Broughton has had a shit deal here though ,it's one thing if he knew his budget from the outset but in the summer it was late in the day when his budget got cut and we were being linked to a better calibre of player and even in the January window he was approaching the board to spend some of the Wharton money on McGuire and making enquiries over other players Who can do the job in conditions like that.

Need to carry that level of performance into the league
No excuses,if they can play like that v Newcastle then go to Swansea and get a result
Shocked when he took the superb Buckley off but the subs generally did well

Comparing apples and oranges
JDT didn't have gally Dolan jrc hedges bucko
JE didn't have Wharton.
Different squads.
Also the toxicity at the club before jdts departure is evident. Can't compare their tenures
What you can do is note that JE has almost a fit squad (barring JRC) and has 3 points out of a possibility of 12.
On that form alone we may not achieve our aim of 50,(now45) points.
With the amount of games being played tho Eustace isn't getting much time on the training ground with the team,Iv not been that much of a fan of the style but it's making us harder to beat , hopefully the tactics will evolve with more time and less pressure when we get the points needed to avoid relegation.
I was gutted we lost JDT but it's extremely difficult to judge Eustace with such a small sample size. The Brum fans reckon his football got better as time went on.
I know you don't credit him with stoke but Johnson said he had a big influence, and Its been said he picked the team, so for me it is one win ,one loss and 3 draws
So one loss in 5 after coming into a squad that had been on a losing streak ,isn't a bad start imo

I've actually forgotten what it feels like to play slightly better in the second half and come back to draw a game.
When was the last time/how many times other than Millwall on the final day we came from behind to gain any points?
We came from behind v Millwall this season also

Thank feck they didn't get a third
Lowe would have done a Mourinho at Porto
I would have taken a point before the game but shocking to let a two goal league slip
Money should have been spent on a midfield player coming in Garrett very poor today ,can only hope Buckley is fit and we see a better player than we have done on Tuesday night. If Buckley isn't fit then I would start Ayari

How bad was the pitch by the way, absolutely criminal a championship club is presenting that as a surface worthy of elite level football.
Ours has been similarly shocking at times over the last few seasons

I'm sure it could be broken if there was an agreement all round it's been done before.
We've wasted his wages on another croc though.
They could agree for Travis to come back and cancel the loan.
But the rules mean he wouldn't be allowed to play for us again this season.

Batty really needed to go out on loan like Gent. He's not had the best of seasons with the Under-21's.
Do you know what is happening with Leonard Parson? Is he injured?
He should have been loaned out aswell

If we do get a win I hope we don't see Eustace jumping around like we have won the world cup like Lowe did when they beat us earlier in the season

I do think Garrett was a bit shit last night but so was everyone to be fair .
What's going on with Harry Leonard?if he isn't injured he should be on the bench ,even if not ready he should be ahead of Telalovic in the pecking order.
If he is just being left out for footballing reasons it's a joke he wasn't let out on loan in January

A few tidbits from Elliot on that podcast. I think he's already written some of this, but more may be coming in future articles:
- Who knows what story/side to believe, but he says he had an 'off-the-record' chat with GB. Elliot rubbishes the story of the initial McGuire deal being cancelled midflight, although reiterates Venky's did suddenly pull the funding for the deal. Says the initial deal was for ~£2.5m*. When Venky's pulled the plug, McGuire flew over anyway to negotiate with Sheff Wed. They couldn't come to an agreement, so his agent came back to GB about a loan-to-buy, with the buy cost increasing to ~£3.5m*.
*I'm probably misremembering the exact figures. Main point is his sources (probably Rovers-linked) are insisting quotes of up to $7.5m are way off.
- GB is staying, at least for the short-term, and was actively chatting with Eustace before/during/after the Stoke game. He'll be speaking to the media about the transfer window during/after the international break in March as he wants to give Eustace some breathing space first. Not sure if SW will speak.
- Elliot didn't seem 100% sure, but he's under the impression Eustuce is a SW pick. Interestingly, he also suggests GB wasn't the one who picked out JDT (so maybe SW made the first contact with JDT?), but GB had a role in bringing him in/finalising it.
So Elliot had an off the record chat with GB and then Elliot spoke about what was said in the podcast?Even if what some of us suspect and the money was never there to do any kind of deal he isn't going to say that to Elliot

Yeah but they could have got his wages off the books and received a transfer fee if they accepted the bid from Ipswich.
It just doesn't make sense to turn down multiple bids from Ipswich, then when Ipswich have signed their alternatives we then make Gally available for transfer.
