You can't have it both ways if you want the good ones under his name the others are to, similarly he is DoF and as you pointed out he is responsible for the whole football opp, so we can't cherry pick his remit.

It's all on his watch so he needs to employ better scouts going off the evidence, it's his recruitment team. The main model here now is youth, freebies and cheap punts and the 3 mentioned are crap to put it mildly.

Don't take my word for it look at the Head Coach and judge by his actions.

I'm not trying to do that obviously Broughton will have the final say but it will be be Kimberly finding the shortlist of players that come within budget and then onto Broughton and JDT to decide who to pursue

I'm not saying Broughton is doing brilliant and there has been some poor signings but there is no team in the league challenging for the playoffs with the budget that he has and no strikers banging them in that cost anywhere near as little as Telalovic

But imo when 1 million + has been spent then the buys haven't been bad and 2+ excellent in Szmodic and lesser extent Hyam but a very solid signing.

    Wahlstedt very poor so far

And Telalovic is a work in progress but he cost peanuts

What has Brittain done to be regarded as decent?

Not judging Broughton on the money he has to work with is a ridiculous notion given it is literally his job to work with those funds.

Because if championship clubs could go out and buy players that could hit the ground running for fees that we paid for Telalovic then they would all be doing it.

Again can you point me towards the strikers in this league of a decent standard that he could have signed with his budget?

Imo Brittain has been alright ,shit recently but for £1 million pound he hasnt been awful.

I notice you have returned, you seemed to disappear as soon as Brererton started scoring goals.Didnt you say he would end up in the lower leagues?

Nobody gets every  signing right but Szmodic,Hyam ,Brittain and Tronstad are all decent enough championship players.

We don't know about Szmods but allegedly wasn't a GB choice and the other two were lined up by Mowbrays gang before Greggy got here.

Ennis, Leo and Tela are without much doubt and his resume though.

He was still signed under his watch ,I don't care what Waggott said if Broughton was that against signing Szmodic then he wouldn't have been signed.

Leo il give you because with the fee paid then someone better definitely could have come in and the decision to give Ennis 4 years was crazy but as a signing it was a punt that hasnt paid off ,he had a good season, Plymouth wanted to keep him and he had good pedigree as a younger player and he was free  .It will be Kimberly putting the players forward anyway tho not Broughton.Broughton isn't sat looking at players all day his remit is the whole football side contracts etc

But that is his job to work within that budget and find players up to standard. Sadly the players haven't been up to standard and nor has Broughton.

The championship top scorer was bought under Broughton's watch.

Anyone we have spent £1 million upwards on Hyam , Brittain and Szmodic have been decent signings.

I'm not being funny but what centre forwards are doing the buisness in the championship that cost less than a million quid?

Wahlstedt looks a rotten signing but overall it is really hard to judge Broughton with the money he has had to work with.Im not saying he is brilliant I'm just saying with the money he has had to work with then he has done ok, not brilliant but not shit either

    Tronstad looks another good signing

Rather think she's got more taste than that.

Beats me why people stick up for him. He has no previous experience as a DOF,  his recruitment has been absolutely dire AND he oversaw the transfer window debacle 12 months ago.

Seems as though because he isn't Venky's or Waggott people will gladly take anything short of Attilla the Hun in comparison.

His recruitment has been hit and miss.

Wahlstedt looks a very poor signing.

The others we paid £1 million plus on haven't been dire .Szmodic ,Brittain and Hyam.

Szmodic is the top scorer in the championship FFS and bought for £2 mil plus extras

    Wahlstedt is his major mistake.

However the three strikers were all brought in for nothing. He wanted better strikers then Enny and Telly in the Summer but wasn't given the money.

If rumours are to be believed he wanted that Adams who moved to a french club instead for 4 or 5 million and is now being looked at by clubs for a possible 20 million

We have sold top players, of course we have. This is different as he never asked to go, only recently signed a new contract and was extremely happy living at home and playing for Rovers. There was no release clause in his new deal as far as I'm aware. Join those dots and it tells me he was pressurised into going so the club can stave off possible administration. Duff, Dunn, Jones and Phillips moving were completely different circumstances to Adam leaving.

What about these rumours that Palace have been talking with Adam and his reps for a while?

Palace must have had some sort of indication that he was open to moving there?

I take your point,he won't have been pushing for a move this window but I do not believe he would have been happy to stay here beyond the summer with us still a championship club.

I know he is a Rovers fan but still after the project changing in the summer surely he would have begun to think very hard about his future. Most the fan base know we are going nowhere with our current owners. Why would Wharton think we are?

I can see I'm fighting a losing battle arguing with The Football Manager or Fifa Generation on here.

All I can say is that for our Club selling our best player has rarely if ever resulted in an improvement in fortunes on the pitch, in fact usually quite the reverse.

Last time it happened was arguably 1974 when Tony Field was sold and Gordon Lee eventually rebuilt the side after a bit of a gap.

I'm also reminded of Spurs selling Bale. They wasted that money on a right load of old pony.

Rather be the championship manager brigade than deluded enough like yourself to believe a dof can build a promotion side with the budget our owners give out

When Broughton had money Szmodic was brought in

    When he didn't Telalovic

Why do we need a CB? We have 4 already.

We STILL don't have a decent striker on the books though. Not sure this guy from the US is the answer, you'd have hoped we'd have been a bit more ambitious if Wharton is being sold.

Carter is out for 2 months leaves us with Hyam and Wharton.

O' Riordan hasn't played championship football.

We definitely need a centre back

Or a chance for a massive pay rise whilst having a realistic chance of a decent amount of Premier League football alongside some other really talented young players. Rather than staying here in a team treading water in the bottom half of the Championship whose owners have gone AWOL.

Exactly .Moving to palace didn't do Eze any harm.

I don't want him to go but I do think Palace would be a good move for him rather than moving to say Chelsea if anything in that rumour.

Still hoping we hang on till summer a strong finish to the season and a decent showing v Newcastle would only add interest and value.

Me neither sadly, my argument is it should at least be a record fee received before we even start to entertain the idea.

I'd want £25m guaranteed personally, but i'd also want him back on loan until the end of the season being greedy.

£18 million is a record fee for us isn't it?

Its an additional very useful skill to be a good penalty taker but you are comparing apples and oranges if you directly compare 2 strikers and their goal records when one has quite a few penalties in there and the other didnt take them.

We dont seem to win many as an aside.

Not to move away too much from your assertion that we might be busy, deals might or might not happen and they might or might not be mainly loans.

Yeah but Yates played for a team that got relegated and Gally has been playing for a team that's been knocking about the playoffs the last two seasons. You would presume we created more chances than Blackpool.

Gallys injury record needs to be taken into account too he is forever picking up injuries

Nobody did that here. Someone called Nixon “clueless” and you lept to his defence, quoting two transfers that he ‘broke’ that he actually didn’t.
He just makes it his job to make people think he did.

I stand corrected on the 3 links.

But no my initial response to this Nixon discussion was from someone saying "nixon love in"

  14. 48 minutes ago, Hasta said:

Nixon is a prominent account on twitter, therefore he’s often the first one who people are likely to see ‘report’ on transfers. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t available elsewhere first.

O’Rioirdan was first broken by Andy Dunn in the Mirror’s transfer blog. Nixon was a day after that.

For Wharton, journalist Bobby Manzi puts the Palace link up first, and an hour later it’s on Nixons Patreon.

So he got then right’, but didn’t break it. And as a source, he’s only as good as the person he leaches off. You could look on twitter every time he mentions Blackburn, and there will be a good chunk of rumours that just never came close to anything. He sold Wharton to Everton or Newcastle last year, and had Darlow in replacing Kaminski

Now he will also have other contacts outside other journalists so he will certainly get some ‘exclusives’. The problem is, if you look at Nixons feed, he posts about 20 rumours a day. That’s an excessive amount. It’s in his interest to keep his followers / worshippers keen for knowledge and coming back every day. So some of the stuff I think he know is just bullshit, but he needs it for content. Highlighting the stuff he does get right with an ‘Aye’ is his way of trying to cover the bullshit.

Therefore if he mentions it, it’s worth noting and certainly could have legs. However it’s nowhere near gospel.

Nobody says it is gospel.Who on here says every tweet/transfer link nixon dishes out is gospel?

My argument is posters if they wish to believe and discuss his tweets/Articles then they should be allowed to do that without having to listen to shit like ",Nixon love in" Nickoteen etc etc etc

If people think Nixon is just full of shit then scroll past the transfer link via nixon being discussed if they don't believe it anyway.
