Thought there might a bit of positivity with deal back on, regardless of buy or loan, nah same crap.

    Why should we be positive?

Kaminski, Phillips and Wharton gone for £25 million + and all we get in return is loans of untested players

The head coach hasnt got what he wanted again!

Because his stats in a tinpot league are hardly impressive and the fact that only us and Sheffield Wednesday were in for him Says everything

His stats ain't bad not far off 1 in 2

He also recently received his first call up to the United states squad who ain't that bad these days

The American sources wont be abrest of the Wharton situation. They wouldnt have known about a potential snag that has since been ironed out, so if that had fallen through, then that could in theory explain why we may have no longer been able to spend fees.

But as others have touched on. Why would be specifically say deal off mid flight and be so definitive? That suggests maybe its not as simple as a snag that has been ironed out.

Or India have turned round and said irrespective of the Wharton deal we won't be paying transfer fees out

I wouldn't put it past us having an agreement with palace to announce the Wharton deal as late as possible

I don’t believe the local media reports for a second. They stink of reporting the Rovers PR line.

Think about it - why do you inform people at midnight that a transfer isn’t happening, for a flight that lands at 8AM if there’s a potential hiccup in the Wharton deal? You don’t! You wait until the morning when you get clarification on the Wharton situation because the player is on a plane regardless. The plane isn’t turning around, there’s no need to inform anyone the deal isn’t happening until the player is at Brockhall with a pen in his hand.

    Exactly.

India have said no to paying a fee for a player.

  5. If Wharton stayed I wouldn't give a feck about not bringing in McGuire

But we know how this ends Wharton is announced later on today and we bring in a loan youngster from an academy

Then told we couldn't find value in the January window at such a late hour

Then a portion of our fans blame Broughton for not signing an Alan Shearer clone with his wage budget of £500 a week

    Venkys out

You'd like to think that a deal, with both the club and the player was basically all agreed (even in principle) BEFORE he jumped on a plane and flew half way around the world.

Surely, surely Rovers aren't that fucking stupid?

Didn't one of the journalists who initially began tweeting about it say a 3.5 year contract had been agreed?

I can’t see how anyone can be looking at our squad without Adam and saying we don’t need a centre midfielder. I think it might even be more important than a striker at this point.

Unless they have decided JRC will be playing that role but we would definitely need a RB then

In fairness we did show some good form when Costello was in the midfield

According to TV 2's information, Blackburn Rovers is the club that has thrown itself into a late coup attempt by David Brekalo (25) with a few hours left until the deadline. @kflygind was first to break the news of the Championship bid. Now Viking has far better cards in hand in the negotiations.

I wonder if the plan (if they have one) is to be competitive until the summer then use the Wharton money to improve the squad in a window which is easier to get players I.e good frees but offer increased wages etc

No doubt GB and JDT will be led to believe that there will be money to spend in the summer but when the time comes there will be some other excuse as to why they can only bring in frees and loans without selling anyone else
