Mate I don't think 15 million is a good deal for Armstrong but I think it's the best we will get.If you want to believe a premier league club will pay 20 Million for a championship striker who has one year left on his deal then that's up to you . When was the last time a Championship player with one year left on his contract,that had never been tested at premier League level left their club for a fee of 20 million or even 10 for that matter? It's as simple as this imo we can not afford to let him go for nothing if we have bids of 15 million in.With our wage bill and finances we need a big sale in the next 12 months.If it's not Armstrong who else is it going to be?Most teams in the championship with our debt levels and finances cash in on assets,it's a farce we have got to this point IL reiterate I think you are dreaming if you think we will get bids of 20 million(I would love to be wrong)

That Daka who Leicester bought was under contract for longer than a year and they paid 23 million.He was coveted by bigger teams than Leicester too. He is unproven in the premier League as is Armstrong.He has 1 year left on his deal why would Premier league teams pay 20 million+ when they can get better value for their buck abroad. If Watkins had 1 year left on his deal Aston Villa would not have been paying 26 million for him. Even if we go the part exchange route that players valuation will be taken into consideration when we are paying the 40%

Reach has better numbers than Rothwell anyway.Yeah he has had a poor couple of seasons and the Sheffield Wednesday fans don't rate him,but a lot was going on at the time, players not getting paid their wages etc. Pre the last two years Reach was rated in this division,did enough to secure a 5 million move whilst we would be lucky to get £500k for Rothwell

Rothwell was in and out of League one Oxfords side before he came here. I'm not claiming our coaching isn't as issue but in respect to Rothwell his decision making is still as poor as when he first joined. If he left and joined another team and his numbers improved dramatically then I would hold my hands up and say I got it wrong.But I don't see that happening.He is 26 years old and am yet to see him being consistent

Well they have left him out loads of times.Even now I wouldn't call Rothwell a regular. I'm not disputing he has talent but I certainly don't believe if he left us tomorrow all of a sudden his numbers would improve dramatically.His goals and assist record is poor and I don't think that all the blame can be layed at our management and coaching team.Rothwell has to take some responsibility, he does take the wrong option and he lacks discipline and intelligence when it comes to his positioning

We can't afford to wait until the end of the window if we need money brought in to make signings ourselves.If we had a healthier looking squad then yeah waiting till the end in the hope a team will panic and pay a few extra quid would possibly be the best thing to do.But we are just over a week till start of season and the squad is already riddled with injuries and looks weak .

Watkins is a far better all round player than Armstrong and like you said was tied down to a longer contract. If Watkins only had a year left he wouldn't have been bought for 26 million you also have to take into account clubs have had hardly any income for near 2 year. Also plenty of recent examples of players downing tools when coming to the end of contract.Fletcher and Britt last season amongst the most recent examples

Exactly this...plus a massive risk to a player of a long term injury. Lyle Taylor at Charlton downed tools when coming to the end of his contract, same as the two boro strikers Britt and Fletcher last year. We ain't in a position were we can just say no to bids as high as 15 million when we will get nothing for him in 12 months time

Can we guarantee that he will give 100%. I think it is fanciful to believe a sought after player playing with a year left on his deal will play to his max. 15 million is an acceptable amount for a player with only one year left on his contract who has never been tested at Premier League level and has only been performing to such a high standard for 18 month and even last season he had moments that let us down missed penalties, taking the wrong option when clear on goal. Be surprised if we get offers as high as 20

Mowbray and our coaching staff don't take to the field with Rothwell,it's not them who go missing in the matches nor is it them who take on a few players and more often than not take the wrong option.

Yeah in the hope Rothwell would fulfill his undoubted potential but he hasn't absolutely no end product and that's not all on Mowbray.Rothwell has shown a few flashes but more often than not goes missing.Way overrated by some on here

It isn't Mowbrays fault that Rothwell rarely ever has an end product. He was in and out of the team at Oxford aswell.

Yes but how would a player that didn't play the other day and then not playing on Wednesday be a clue to who is being sold? Travis didn't play the last match is what I'm getting at

Travis was out the last match so I don't think it would be a suprise not seeing him in the starting line up. JB post suggests it's someone's exclusion from the team that the played the other day , my money on Armstrong

He had had a poor 6 months at Bolton in the championship prior to joining us in on loan in league one and he wasn't anything special for us at the time either. Agreeing to 40% was too much and I'd be saying the same if we were fielding 30 million bids for him now

Did we not sign Brereton not long after that ?And were bidding for Freeman and the lad at city? People weren't banging down the door for Armstrong at that time,the interest would have been minimal and from mid table /lower placed championship clubs

Agreed, very rarely in England anyway do you see a player with a 40% sell on ,it's usually 20 max. Was stupid to agree such a clause, it wasnt like Newcastle were over run with bids for him at the time. Yeah nobody can say they haven't backed Mowbray,they have given him more than enough money,we should not be in the mess we are now. But once again instead of just removing the manager and the rest they go silent and will let us fester till he is out of contract

Well we have spent decent money whilst Mowbray Has been here and only sold one first team player in that time, a player the manager didn't rate.The owners will spend money in the transfer market if ffp allows The club needs Money brought in.Be beyond stupid to just let our most valuable asset to run his contract down.Armstrong is the only player we currently have that would get a fee of 10 million +.

I rate Armstrong so not having a go at him. But if we kept him on for the season can you really see him getting similar numbers as he did last season.No Elliot for a start and earlier in season when Holtby was playing well. Most of Armstrong's goals came when the team was creating chances,a lot of those 28 goals came when we were the dominant side,how many goals did he get when we won twice in 17? Of course we ain't gonna be able to loan in a player as good or worth as much as Armstrong,but the whole squad could be improved even if only a fraction of Armstrong's fee is reinvested. Are they having a laugh with a 15 million offer? He has one year left on his contract,and the fact Is he has been performing at a high level for only 18 months and not tested or proven in the Premier League. I know Ollie Watkins left the previous summer for 28 million but he was under contract for longer and he was and is a better all round player than Armstrong. Not over reacting to the result today as such but we seemed to be trying to play the same way as last season that had us finishing bottom half with a worse squad than last year . Armstrong will not score 28 goals or anything like those numbers if he is to stay with us this year, absolutely no chance imo, plus in my opinion a player in their last year intent on moving on just won't give the same effort and will most likely have a move sorted way before the current season ends. If true that we need to bring money in before we can sign players then we need to start being realistic with a fee for Armstrong. Not that this would happen in a million years but say clear 10 million for Armstrong then use some of that money to sack off Mowbray and the rest and bring in competent people.Even if we only have to use the loan market and just do enough to stay in this league until the rules allow more investment on the field,we can use the year to clean up some of the mess left behind. Either way if no new deal for Armstrong,then he has to be sold and nobody will go as high as 25 million for him players included in deals or not.

Are you sure of this?As even going back as far as Mowbrays West Brom days he spoke of playing a possession game?And it was him repeatedly saying he wanted to change from knocking it long into Graham to a more possesion based game?
