He was already under contract till 26 or 27, presumably this new deal is about rewarding him and upping his money.I can't see there being any low release clause, if he had one in his deal that he signed last year surely we would have heard about clubs meeting it by now

Blackburn End: Waggott Out

The budget is dictating him going for those sort of targets. He is being hamstrung by the restrictions in place, even earlier in the summer he spoke of experience arriving none arrived. I don't see these strikers banging them in at this level that we could have signed with the budget we have, not saying this sarcastically because I haven't kept that close on eye on it so if there is im willing to be corrected. And Telalovic was a last minute punt because we didn't have the budget to do anything else. Hirst and Mola poor, Hill and Moran decent so far, I don't think there is a championship club that exists that hasn't made a number of signings that haven't worked out. Our shit squad had us finish seventh last season and has us currently 7th ,it will take a bit of backing by the owners to take us up a level. Last January was a fuck up when there seemingly was a bit of cash to spend and agreed not all signings have worked out so yeah agreed his job so far is questionable but some good things have happened also since he arrived like contracts being taken seriously and there has been some good signings aswell as bad so all things considered I think he is doing ok with what he is working under so Its just my opinion to say he is out of his depth is harsh at this point -

Look at the budget he had? Where are these director of football that get the majority of their signings right with the budget we have? Ennis was on the back of a very good season and at the time he was signed our budget hadn't been cut. Telalovic was quite clearly a development signing , if he had the money to bring in proven quality then that's what they would have gone for.And maybe with some time he will come good, Tronsted was being used as a stick to beat Broughton with earlier in the season and over the last couple of month he has probably been one of our most important players. Hill and Moran so far have looked excellent loan signings. Wahlstedt has looked iffy for me but at the same time we weren't the only club interested and he made his international debut the previous January so he must have been showing something. Our business under him hasn't been perfect but I find it incredibly harsh to read he is out of his depth being said with such certainty with the circumstances and budget he works under. Also if it was him who identified and chose JDT then he deserves big credit for that , he has also got nearly every member of the first team squad signed onto longer deals. -

And even with the striker situation hard to find a decent one with the crumbs he has for a budget. -
That *was* the January Window

Although experience is needed failing that surely we will be looked upon as an attractive option with our style of play for some of the better younger lads that might be let out on loan in January.Hopefully we can pick up a player or 2 who can impact our season like Moran and Hill have so far -

A number of our players are prone to injury though like Brittain and JRC for example so wouldn't surprise me to see one or two changes. He did make one change after the 4-0 win at QPR. -

Sorry but how has it been clear for many years that the plan is to develop and sell players. In the last 13 years you can count on one hand the amount of players we have developed and sold on -

Yeah and unlikely finish as high as 7th . That does not mean it's a relegation squad which it isn't. -

We had our share of hammerings last season. We finished 7th We are in a rut, the tactics may need tweaking.Noticed on this or another thread you reckoned we should be worried about relegation and you ain't alone. Not a chance we get relegated. -

Ok but I disagree with him.How many goals does he have to concede before we give our main summer signing in terms of a transfer fee a chance? -

When he was breaking through, few years back before all his injury issues and pre breaking into the senior team there was a bit of noise about him and back then I watched the underage and he stood out, saying that so did Butterworth. I'm not putting him on A.Wharton level just my opinion he showed enough last season to prove he isnt a poor footballer which is how he was described in the initial post I responded too -

Because the second half of last season was the only time he had an extended run in the side since he broke through to the first team. I won't disagree he played poorly under Mowbray but he was injury hit he never had an extended spell playing week in and week out. Seen enough from him last season and from how highly he was thought of from his time in the youth team to disagree that he is a poor footballer.
