The question is are Venky's being tight, or are the idiotic FFP rules the reason we can't offer contracts to keep our players.

The FA and FFP will be more than happy if we are "in our place" in League 1, they don't care.

We can have the best facilities in the UK and Venkeys can stump up the funds for it. They can fully finance the Academy, pay a inept CEO, what they can’t do is finance the improvement in the squad. Yet those who drop out of the premiership have 4 years of parachute payments. Therefore nearly half of the league has an unfair advantage. Given that all clubs now have relegation clauses in their players contracts they have advantages longer than 4 years. Plus if they break the rules and get promoted, the EFL don’t have the ballocks to fine them. DROP THE PARACHUTE PAYMENTS AND LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD.

Losing Lenihan, Nyambe, Brereton and Rothwell on a free is a disaster.

I can handle Rothwell leaving. Brereton is a financial disaster to spend 7 million on and let go just as he starts semi producing and is still only 22/23 years old.

Not so Woody, Brereton would command a transfer fee, it may not be £7m but his stock is rising ala Diaz, if he continues to score like he has in the first few games he may be worth more than our investment. The others will hopefully be sold in January. Two are ex academy and owe us nothing. Rothwell didn’t break the bank so we’d be quids in. Our problem will be finding replacements. The u23s will continue to feed the first team, in the short term until they settle in it could be the course for disaster

why drop Buckley for Johnson? Is Johnson even fit enough to start and as we witness on Saturday that Poveda didn;t look fit enough to start that game.

Butterworth isn't a number 9 striker at all. He is number 10 or wide player. He isn;t physical enough for their back 3 and would be easy for them defend against him. Thats why I expect Mowbray to pick Gallagher up front with Dolan and Brereton wide in 4-3-3.

and dropping Dolan is a massive mistake for me. We need his pace to run in behind and between their back 3 to caused them problems.

Butterworth should start ahead of Dolan, has pace, doesn’t try all the tricks and flicks that Dolan does with about a 50% success rate. Plus he’s scored when fit for the u23’s he deserves a starting position.

Let's hope we get a new deal with the Aussie company Recoverite again for extension. Don't want any more better companies.

Well let's hope the 2022/23 shirts are just as good as this season 3 shirts.

Why would you not want a better company? We need all the cash we can get, plus if their a better company they will have a higher profile and that helps Rovers.

The same Howard Kendall that made 1-0 tight wins an art form?

Half the fanbase would be screaming ‘anti-football’ if he rocked up here these days.

The same Howard Kendall that worked miracles on a bloody shoestring, how he would have loved £12m (at 1970’s values before you start moaning) to spend. We’d have walked the division. Oh I forgot what did he do at Everton when he moved there? Probably one of the three best managers of the decade with Bob and Brian. And a real gentleman who replied to a 22yr old supporter when at the start of his tenure we were not pulling up trees. Would Mowbray do that?

We need a manager who can get us promoted. That's all there is to it. Dyche didn't keep Burnley up he took them back down, but was able to keep their best players and given a chance to get them back up again like Farke at Norwich.

Both Wilder and Neil have shown they are very good managers at this level and have recently won promotion from it automatically.

Wilder also kept Sheffied United in the Prem, finishing 9th which was an incredible achievement forgotten about because things unravelled the year after.

Of course there are some people out there in the world who might be able to get us up and then establish us but those are gambles.

My view is you worry about staying up once you have got there and if necessary make a change once in the Premier League, as ruthless as that might be there's no room for sentiment. Once there you have the profile to attract top quality like Southampton did when they axed Adkins and brought in Pochettino. Even if it goes wrong you come back down with a big bank balance and sign the best Championship quality like West Brom have done.

There’s always Steve Kean who would jump at coming back to England and finish the job he started. I’d sooner see Gene Wilder, or Alex Neil Scottish politician!

Neil played for Barnsley from 2000-2004. Quite possibly just visiting his old stomping ground and seeing friends rather than pursuing a job.

More likely to be Barnsley manager this season than Rovers IMO.

While wilder is still on the market we need to move for him

Both are one trick pony’s that were found out in the Premiership. We need a manager that can not only get us promoted but actually keep us there like Dyche at turdmoor. I’m not sure who fits the bill but maggot needs to do his homework and find the next Howard Kendall, and not cover Mowbrays arse.

I have only been to Cardiff once, did it piss down!

All in all it was a reet good weekend. I had money and stayed at the Hilton.....Souness and the team brought the cup back that night. I think I got drunk!

    Head to head: W 26 D 22 L24 - close.

First game at Ewood 02/01/1922 lost 1-3.

Most recent, at Cardiff April 21: 2-2.

Only club, not from England, to have won the FA Cup - 1927.

Recent players to have played for both clubs, Rudy Gestede and Junior Hoilette.

Little known fact, Rudy shares my birthday (10/10).

Eight games played, Rovers giddy in sixth, 13 points, Cardiff tenth, 11 points. TM needs to feck off, but on the basis it won't happen in the next week, he will no doubt "shuffle the pack" yet again.

I predict a riot,  but no idea about the score.

DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT....Dylan Marlais Thomas (before you all shout he was born in Swansea....he's still Welsh), a sombre poem at best....sums up the fact we should all pull together to hope at some point the Loons depart and we can rise again.

    Here's to a win. COYB'S.........

I’ve never bothered to keep my tickets. They mean nothing to anybody else, I have my memories of all our visits to the Mellennium Stadium. After beating Spurs (deserved), it must be Andy Todd smacking Van Persie, priceless 💪👍🤪

I don't lead any chants at all. But its seem that people who attends games are behind Mowbray as manager.

Now we might want a different manager at the club but Mowbray is in the place of manager until Balaji/Venkys decide to change that fact.

Like I said previously I see a very different Mowbray compare to last season or even the season before.

I go to Ewood and the u23 games and like 90% of fans I’ve talked to we want a change, BUT we don’t chant for his sacking, rather we get behind the boys in blue. You’re a bit naive to think that not demonstrating at the games implies approval of Mowbray.

He was brought in with 50% of the window left.  Was he doing nothing before he started here.? Have you heard of hitting the ground running? I think he's been hitting the bakers

Sparks I’m sure you can scout for him the good bakers/pie shops. There’s the one opposite Ewood that Shearer frequented. I’d recommend Greens on the market for their excellent pies, I love the peppered steak. As for cakes I can’t help as we bake our own and I’m not letting the fat jock near my lemon drizzle cakes.

  11. I want him gone, but I’m sure he’ll be here next summer giving the same old excuses. Injuries, limited budget, dealing with agents, DEFENDERS ARE COMING, etc, etc, etc. I think if we can keep Ayala fit we could be near to the playoffs, which the Venkeys will look at as progress. The only way he’ll be gone is if we either get relegated or just survive. The lesser of two evils Mowbrays stays or Rovers get relegated 😥

The real deal? Presumably not on the same kind of level they see Phillips as the real deal?

Don’t know Bruce, he’s been here since he was a kid. He’s older than Phillips so he’s gone under the radar. I think Mowbrays using Phillips to pacify the supporters with manana.

Agree about Wharton, looked very good. Is he Scott's brother?

Garret was at the game, watching from behind the goal.

Yep Colt he’s Scottie’s younger brother. From what I’ve read the club think he’s the real deal. Hopefully he continues to develop. We have some real prospects in the Academy. The future is bright, the future is blue and white.

The point being that he wasn't exactly influential in the signing, if anything it was actually more Mowbray's relationship with Brighton's technical director that was the influential part. It seems that relationship secured the defender from there too.

The point is Mowbray wouldn’t have asked to take the lad if he’d not been informed about him. That’s the scouts job, it then up to Mowbray and maggot to get the deal over the line based on their contact with the other club.

It's funny how people see things differently. You saw Johnson as trim and tidy. I saw him as overweight and cumbersome. At his stage of recovery I would not expect him to be running around bossing games, he was there just to see if he could last half a game.

What was really good to see was his replacement Wharton. I thought he had an excellent second half, looked comfortable on the ball and had a good engine on him. Where was Garrett, has he gone with the first team?

As I am struggling to understand the point you're trying to make. You've decided it's a non-story because you've also decided something is happening in the background which you know nothing about. Anybody can make up some crap happening in the background to try to explain away anything. As we have seen with these ludicrous covid conspiracy theories.

Basically you're failing the burden of proof to declare this a non-story.

Good of you to admit it.

Don’t worry Bruce your on the right track, nothing to do with BIF which are payed by the employee, more to do with narrow minded tight arse twats running the club. I know the Indians would be horrified at the bad press this will give if it became more public. The real story is how the club is being run.
