Financial Fair Play scrapped?
Devon Rover replied to Devon Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ah ok, that's that then! Cancel the pressure washer.....! -
Has anyone seen any confirmation or detail about this? Lots of headlines about FIFA "scrapping" (and replacing) FFP, but no idea what it might mean for us. I am guessing worst case scenario it will be a handsome pay rise for Waggott, Mowbray and Venus; Best case - pressure washer in on a two day loan to clean a bit of the moss off the stands. Extra £500 per week each into the offers to our out of contract players. Probably, realistically, it is just causing some urgent Board-level discussions regarding a likely required shift in the now standard FFP 'excuse' for Rovers' failure to spend money from our billionaire owners in the transfer market/contract renewals, year after year. Any thoughts?!

Championship 21/22
Devon Rover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Who do we want to win/lose thus evening? I can't work out if I want the others in the playoff zone to slip up, or prefer to see those outside it drop points? -

Yep. You couldn't make it up! Tony can, though. He might just be pranking us all really early for April Fools Day? Or, more likely in his case, he is very late realising action was required for April Fools Day 2021. -
Mowbray, the summer and beyond
Devon Rover replied to TheRovers1994's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm spending half time desperately trying to discover something on the Internet to link Mowbray to Putin and get him sanctioned. So far the closest I am getting is a connection to Pulis, which is almost the same, but I do think we have sufficient, and growing, evidence to at least get TM sectioned. -

This is the performance of a team with no confidence but also with no sense of what they are set up to be doing. It is absolutely mind-boggling what Mowbray has done here. -

It's getting beyond embarrassingly bad now. The whole lot of them should be ashamed of this. As for Bradley Johnson as a False 9. Is Mowbray actually taking the piss?? -

Right now how I feel is fuck the lot of them. Mowbray should be out tonight. There is absolutely no justification for him keeping his job. But as for the players; any of them not sticking around, I couldn't care less. This is a team of losers. If they are going to become something else they will need a different motivating from a new manager and, some of them, different motivations. If they can't commit to this club then don't play. Furious at what we've become. -

It is purely Mowbray who is responsible for this shit. -

This decision by Mowbray is even more insane than all those times he has played Gallagher on the right. The only way Giles is useful to us is on the left. Although, let's be honest, no-one is going to score anything he swings in, anyway. Hopeless. -

😄 Sounds like Tony's kind of plan. And by then we will DEFINITELY need a right-back so he'll be a perfect fit. -

Agree. Didn't expect anything, got nothing, goal difference impact could have been worse. The issue for me is, again, we looked to be totally clueless in possession and going forward. One shot on target. It was a pretty horrible performance. -

He is. I don't mind that in a manager - if you've earned the right. -

I honestly don't understand this at all. Tombola Time? If Giles is to be in this team it can only be in Pickering's place. And I'm sure he would be much better there than Pickering. But his strength is crossing and we have no-one to cross to. So why is he even at the club? It's all totally devoid of any sense or strategy. -

Including manager. We were screwed before the players got on the pitch. -

Yeah I can't watch any more of this. It's a terrible, nonsensical line up set up to give us no chance at all if (once) a goal is conceded. Its awful to see. -

FFS that's that then. Game over, surely? Van Hecke, Kaminsky, Lenihan all not at the races there. Gifted. -
Decent half. Very little to show for it due to the totally predictable lack of goalscoring instinct throughout this team. I don't blame the players, they are what they are. It was the January transfer window total failure that cost us. Cheers Tony and Venkys.

We've missed our chance here. Will be lucky to get anything from this. Bright starts count for nothing.

The selection of Khadra looks terrible right now.

I've felt until tonight that it was a case of get to the end of the season. But I'm now thinking a managerial change this week is the one roll of the dice that might turn our fortunes around in time to salvage a top 6 finish this time around. It won't happen.

I don't disagree. Although I maintain the manager has more opportunity to do things about it: On the training pitch, in the transfer market, in his selections. If the players are playing shite, then it is up to the manager to change things - between games, before them, or during. We do not have a manager who takes that responsibility. So why would his players all adopt a different approach in response? He is supposedly in charge of these things. We miss out on playoffs, we should have a big change around. Manager and players. -

Who picks them, mate? And the formation. Go out there and be a False 9, Bucko. It's ridiculous and it's gone on for months, without the signings made to offer something different. It is on Tony. And the players' attitudes have also been appalling. So I'll vent my anger at several of them. But ultimately the manager needs to take responsibility for his decisions. -

For me tonight ends our chance of play-offs. I just can't see what the change is going to be that will turn our form around so significantly as to get more points that QPR, Sheff U, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield etc will. We are screwed. -

I feel sick. Genuinely close to tears at the sheer hopelessness of the situation and how totally impotent this team has become. Action could have been taken in January to avoid all of this. The fact that it wasn't should lead to Mowbray being out on his arse. The sooner the better. He has totally fucked this up. And if half the team leave then so be it. Most of them have not got the guts or attitude required to get out of this division. Rothwell, Buckley, Khadra. Talented but not as good as they (and some of our fans) think they are.
