  1. Buy players who fit your system and they can go straight into the team. It’s what the well run clubs do. We are starting to see a little of it ourselves.
  2. I’m confused, is this the transfer tread? Is there no transfer news at all? It’s like lord of the flies here.
  3. So no styles, no bowler and dack is finished are the stories today then.
  4. I know it’s had for rovers fans but is it time to feel a little optimistic? 2 permanent signings and both make sense. Plus we are being linked with other potential players which also make sense. Previously the window would have ended and we would have heard how we tried etc. but gb seems to be able to get things over the line. A left back and center half and who the hell knows where this ends. But we seem to be moving forward. 12 years of pain and maybe a little light…….
  5. This transfer window will be successful if GB gets players that make JDT happy. So far the manager has said he is happy with the first player signed. We have no reason not to take his word for it. Surely for their first window that’s the best true barometer of how the window goes. GB will need a couple of windows to right previous wrongs.
  6. Totally agree, how can we judge any of the new set up before a ball is kicked! It takes most managers/dof a couple of windows to start getting their team together
  7. All the outgoings makes sense prior to getting new boys in. Free up some space. Where is that sticker album!
  8. This is such an atypical window for everyone with the early start. As for rovers it’s in reality a cluster €&@(. We change all senior footballing structure and takes weeks to do it. Then GB has been given a huge handicap since 3 first team players were free to leave plus the loan players leaving. So what’s happened so far is understandable. We have made one good signing so signs are positive.
  9. Thanks for the info glen. Certainly we can all agree based on the first signing and on the players we are tracking this could end up being a successful window. We may not get every target but the standard of player we are looking at is certainly the level a team building for a promotion challenge would expect. The less we hear from GB the better, he seems to like an airtight ship.
  10. GB very complimentary to Barnsley. Maybe keeping them sweet for a return and cheeky second purchase?
  11. Potentially a good first signing and seems more are lined up. Now it’s surely time to for us all to acknowledge that GB has been working away quietly and under wraps. All the negativity towards him and our new set up needs to be more balanced. New people and systems deserve a chance. Yes communication could have been better but he really should stay quiet until the end of the window. He and JDT deserve their own chance to do things their way. It’s not Tony or Venus anymore so a fresh slate and our understanding that they are starting from scratch is important.
  12. Isn’t it possible that the new manager assessed nyambe and decided he wasn’t right for the club going forward. It would explain a lot. Why else would he end up with such a weird ending after reentering negotiations with the club.
  13. GB can’t be expected to give constant updates on transfers. Let the man do his job. Isn’t it better to keep it all under wraps and then announce things when all signed etc. plus he has hired the Welsh dude to manage the scouting, so things are moving. Let’s see what this new group can do before we start getting too negative. And yes I am aware of the timeline and that the season is just around the corner but panic buys are no good to anyone.
  14. All Glens points are very valid. This is a fundamental problem for most teams outside of the prem or those recently relegated. The mega rich clubs have in many ways wrecked the football league. Covid has then compounded the issue. It’s criminal that last season when we actually had a chance to get on the right side of this we pissed any promotion chances away. The reality is that unless the Vs can find a loophole in ffp and are willing (very unlikely) to exploit it we are going to be at best a mid table championship club going forward.
  15. Regardless of anything there will be changes to the current squad. Big Ben will 100% be sold. At the very least we will get in a few loans in. Any predicted starting 11 right now isn’t likely once window is closed. Permanent signings …..who knows but probably no one loan or permanent signing soon. Just being realistic based on previous summers.
  16. If we spend 3m on the entire window I will be pleasantly surprised. Frees and loans is my gut feeling. Plus nothing in the next couple of weeks. I don’t care what the ITKs think. We have new manager (DoF) but same upper management and owners. Things won’t change. Would be over the moon to be wrong though
  17. Talk of exciting additions has been said multiple times since the Vs turned up. It’s always been bs. This window all comes down to JDT. His vision and the path forward. Clearly GB will also be important. We won’t have a significant budget, no point in pretending. The owners won’t change their spots. The rest of the senior management are incompetent. We need to replace the spine of the team and add experience. It’s going to take a couple of windows at least. Potential new players have to be sold on the “project”. Hopefully we get whoever in early and sell BBD early to get a decent replacement.
  18. Ok page 100. 3 first team players gone for nothing. BBD will be sold. No sign of any signings. Probably won’t be any soon. O and lots of arguments. About sums everything up nicely I think. I feel for JDT and gab. Both will be off if their hands are being tied.
  19. We just have a new setup at the club. Let’s all just take a breath. We are short Multiple players but JDT and gb need some time to assess what we have and then identify replacements. We have no idea what formation etc is planned for this season. I get the impression GB isn’t one to wait around. He will act fairly quickly once he knows what’s needed. Let’s all wait and see what they do. TM was I think the main reason for the very slow windows in the last couple of seasons. Very old school
  20. Really hard to say how any player currently at the club will get on in the new system. Primarily because we don’t know what it will look like. Gally deserves a chance in his preferred position and see what he can do . I can’t say how he will get on. The only prediction I will make is Diaz won’t be here come the start of the season. So it’s all about how much of that money we can spend from his sale.
  21. Quite a few topics is this tread right now. JDT was a steal for this club simple. The credit I think lays with GB. Another good appointment. It seems a universally a popular appointment. On big Sam. Sacking him was nuts and nothing will ever convince me otherwise. Worst of all the Vs decisions.
  22. His interaction with the players is natural . Some are positive because maybe they wanted a change. Some are negative because they hate change (who does) and some nervous because they have no idea what’s coming. Lots of the younger guys would fit the last group because they have no clue how they fit in. Dack has been the main man and told so for years. He now must wonder on his future. Travis and gally both are confident for their own reasons. At the end of the day that was a very short clip and we saw a select few reactions. Let’s stop reading into everything and enjoy the positive vibes coming from the manager and dof
