It is only my suggestion rather than what I think would happen. I feel that Williams is average but as a left back is better than Bell, and whilst he would prefer to play centre back, at a time when we have 2 very good centre backs and no competent left backs, id like to think that Williams wouldnt refuse to play there.

I think defensively he's still more solid than Bell but unless it's a crisis i'd let him concentrate on centre back now he's settling in there again.

  2. Williams won't play left back unless he's had a mass change of heart so i don't know why it keeps getting suggested. As daft as the Mulgrew for left back, Midfield etc. Not happening especially after the managers comments about Bell.

Wouldn't change a think really there shouldn't be a need injuries aside after that win. Tony will need to be on the sleeping tabs this week over this one.

    3-3 draw.

Not sure why you think this when he has played a very aggressive 433 against Bournemouth and Newcastle.

I think the last 3 years pretty much speak for themselves on that score. I hope now it's a case of hes getting together the system and players for this type of thing consistently.

However going off the past and things he's done and said, also the fact he was mulling over his formation in bed then changed his mind at the last min to something more attacking involving Rothwell  shows it's likely to happen imo.

I think first 11 wise we have been close but our tactical play and defence was dire.  Now we seem to have kids coming through and a game plan for the season.  The stars are aligning...

We've seen this before though only to see them quickly reeled in again TM's natural conservative attitude will kick in again sooner or later. Prospect of Derby will no doubt have him scrabbling through a million different team selections and tactics in his head.

I'd just keep trying to fan the flames of this lot and let them have a real go for now.

  5. I wouldn't pay too much attention to what Mowbray says in regards to transfers it often turns out complete twaddle. It's like he doesn't really know what's going on but with our owners and the way transfer windows work things can change by the hour. So sometimes he probably doesn't know where things are at.

There will always be one worst player. I’m just glad it’s no longer Jason Lowe.

Bell has struggled to adapt to the Championship. He just seems to lack confidence. His final ball is always awful or doesn’t even take place.

The trick is not to upgrade on your worst players though, it’s to upgrade on your best ones so by default the worst ones ease themselves out of contention.

Agree and disagree i think he now has the opportunity to make a big step forwards with replacing Bell. He has money and is pitching left backs but is it just because we are short rather than to upgrade ?

These are the kind of things that can make a difference so if your better players have a good season they aren't being let down by the usual weak points. He's the weakest one if Mowbray bottles it in favour of back up players he'll get pelters again when it goes wrong. I pray he doesn't over think this one and convince himself we'll get by with Bell and a loaned back up.

These are the differences Tony don't fluff it.

Mate, I thought Bell was very poor. Gave the ball away a lot under no pressure. No cutting edge, no penetration. Was thinking all game how much better we’d be with a proper lb in place...?

The bar isn't high though and he's often responsible directly or indirectly for an opposition goal. Wasn't today so i'll take that it's a plus as far as he's concerned.

Totally agree we need a proper left back i don't rate the lad at all and just hope the manager shows some more steel and gets one in. This in recent years has been a big reason why we haven't moved on as maybe we should, the old over loyalty or trying to get away with what he has when he's had opportunities to improve it.

He'll rue it at some point if he doesn't strengthen that position, we all will.

  8. Bells played today, done well but it'll be one of his easiest tests this season next one won't be.

Clean sheet and 5 goals means the whole team and subs and manager have done their jobs beyond expectations. Tonight is one for giving them ALL a toast before the boozers get kyboshed again.

Hopefully the jerks on Bells twitter will have a night off tonight and a bit of rare praise builds hi confidence, he needs it.

Gallagher has no wish to be a winger, just to be played as a striker.

Last January, we won 5-0 away at Sheff Wed with just as fine a performance. Many claimed it was the start of a new dawn. Sadly, it wasn't. Today should therefore come with a 'health warning'. There are some differences. This was the third successive such performance. A Blackburn Rovers scored a hattrick. I can't remember the last time that happened.

I was not pleased that Nyambe got left out or that Brereton was taken off. I thought there was a goal for Brereton in the game today. I don't think Chapman offered anything over Brereton, today.

It's hard to remember that Dolan was signed to play for our U23s, at times. He's taken his chance well. Made the most of his opportunity.

Last season, we lost to teams we should have easily beaten on paper. Today, we beat such a team on the pitch and met the expectations of Mercer, for one.

Long way to go yet for Dolan but just shows how crazy this league is and how every young player should get some sort of chance in it.

  10. If they only sell 3 or 4k STS anyway then they won't open all the stands. It's like the govt pretending they aren't going to lockdown again at some point.

My guess is they'll put all STS in the JW stand unless the number puts a real strain in distancing measures.

Then BBE lower for any single match tickets if applicable.

He'll be working on the speach for that right now.

The stadium Jack built after this fella leaves could well see a closed Blackburn End Upper, Riverside, Darwen End, Blues Bar and radio station, with a vast reduction in crowds.

And he was brought in to increase revenue?

Whilst iv'e long thought Suhail is more than just a messenger boy and think he might represent more than the Rao's at Ewood i'm not sure i'm swallowing it's all down the him.

Swaggo has got them all going down the 'great guy' route now but look beyond that and he'll be just be another self serving suit. He's finding it hard to drive crowds up even before this impossible scenario. Prices would likely have risen anyway and like promotion i think he's just spotted the opportunity to bump then now.

Squeeze what you have whilst you can, remit should be get as many back however you can. Less isn't more in Blackburn.

Blackburn Rovers is therefore owned, ran and administered by a selection of people that have zero knowledge (or seeming interest to learn) of the demographics of Blackburn and it’s environs, and the price points that will push customers away - little wonder then that we will see our ST base further collapse this summer. This need to ‘increase revenue’ is actually producing policies that will do the exact opposite due to their own ignorance.

That's what has happened since they walked through the door they've reduced the whole product to less than half what it was. Hand in hand they've reduced the income that was already there and guaranteed to something around probably a quarter of what it was. Then added to it with their own and their advisory friends antics.

I think some need regular reminders of this when the little choruses of blame the fans and 'the owners are doing their bit' start up. It's all at their door so the mess they've made needs heavily subsidizing and unfortunately that includes the fanbase in this area.

I know it’s really fun to blame Swag, but he really isn’t the problem and will be retiring soon. Suhail is the problem, he slows everything down and despite being the most senior person at the club bar Venkys, has very little footballing knowledge. We’re better with Swag than without.

Kind of like exerting his control by the sounds of but i suppose he's feck all else to do to justify his position. I bet he passes off all the good suggestions as his own to his boss Barry then blames all the cock ups of the rest of them.

    Double agent.

To be fair what ever the price, the club can't really win. What I mean by that is; Handing over any amount without any idea of when you may be able to attend a game is a difficult decision to make.

I have made this point before and I'll make it again. The Worst decision the club ever made regarding season tickets was to reduce them to £199 pounds during the "Taking back Ewood" campaign. We were in the premier league at the time (prior to Venkys) with very poor attendances - Now the plan worked but it was always short sighted and what temporary boost in sales it gave has to have devalued the product.

"In a sense you are lowering the price, because you're giving people something for less than it's worth. You've devalued your offer by giving people an out, and this can have the effect of people not investing as much into your product as they otherwise would have."

    Lancashire telegraph May 2003

A standard ticket on the Blackburn End will increase by £1 per game next term to £385 for adults. However, given the fact there will be an increase in the amount of category A games, that actually works out as a saving when compared to increases in matchday prices.
Chief executive John Williams insists the club are continuing to do everything in their power to make football at Ewood as affordable as possible. And he has described the overall season ticket package as 'very attractive' when compared with the rest of the top flight.

    John Williams March 2004

"We are planning for Premier League football. We had a meeting about season tickets and we do need to make sure we are in the right division.

"As far as I'm concerned we are planning a strategy which means we are in the Premier League next year. I'm very positive and concentrating on that strategy but we're not in a position to announce it yet."However, WiIliams admitted that Rovers' poor home form, which culminated in some supporters throwing season tickets onto the pitch in protest on Saturday, could play a part in their new price package.
"We will have to gauge our disappointment at home this season," he said. "But we hope we can retain and increase our season ticket base."

    From the times 2010#

On Saturday, September 18 at 3pm, Hyde welcome Redditch United to their Ewen Fields ground. It is a big game: the clubs are joint-bottom of the Blue Square Bet North division with a solitary point from their first seven matches.

Thirty miles north, at the same time on the same day, Blackburn Rovers host Fulham in the Barclays Premier League. Last year they were the tenth and twelfth-best teams in the country. An adult seat at Hyde is £12. An adult seat at Ewood Park for the Fulham game is £10.

So in 2003 £385 in Blackburn end is described as attractive compared to other premier league teams. 2004 John williams is considering protest by fans as a consideration for ticket prices. 2010 Ewood cheaper than Hyde United.

2020 - Fans complaining that the price in the blackburn end has in real terms increased by less than £1 a year over the last 18 years.

Sad but true but our Indian owner seem far more committed than most of our fans.  I won't look into the price of the Jack walker stand but I know that this is cheaper than what it once was.

A completely cherry picked example there but you are another who only ever pops up with this kind of stuff purposely missing the point. That Fulham game was one game so no it wasn't normally cheaper at Hyde than Ewood apart from that one game. Nice generalization !

Hyde charging that knowing that only a couple of hundred hardcore will pay it and it's their core income by loyal fans so they aren't being fleeced. How would they react if it was hiked up beyond what is deemed acceptable by most ?

Comparisons to non league are complete nonsense to be honest.

In Fergie's autobiography he spoke about Hargreaves and how it was less of a physical problem to him but more of a mental problem. Hargeaves often declared himself injured when he believed he wasn't.

It is pure wild speculation but something strikes me as odd with Evans. I understand the breaks this year have been genuine, but he is injured that often that you can't help but wonder if all the past injuries are making him reluctant to ever risk a game here and there. With modern sports science I've no doubt he is categorised as high risk and therefore the medical team won't take any risks whatsoever if he tells them he's not "feeling" fully fit.

He's been very well looked after here and very fortunate imo as at times in the past its looked like BRFC just managed him for international duty.

Under Mowbray though hes given us some payback in spells so it's possible his little routine was sussed by a more experienced manager.  Besides i'm sure a boss in the past maybe Bowyer said Evans has a problem that needs careful managing or it would mean big surgery and lay off.
