  1. He gets the ball, scores a goal, Andy Andy Cole. If he can impart that to Gally, the man is also a wizzard!
  2. If we turn up and play like we can, we will win. If we don't turn up like we don't in at least half our matches, it will be something between a stomach churning nervous 90 minutes and a humiliation.
  3. Sheffield United really did the dirty on this one and haven't been punished sufficiently. They gazumped us by a huge margin using the money they should have paid to Liverpool.
  4. We like making life difficult for ourselves don't we? That Dolan miss Tyler Morton, you have pretensions to being a Liverpool player but tonight you were way off that level. Leonard got into more goal scoring positions in 10 minutes than Gally did in 80. Ben oh dear.
  5. Very worried we have gone back to a midfield 2 against a team which has drawn 3 and won 1 away from home since they started playing 4-4-2 away. We could well see all our weaknesses exposed if we don't start fast tonight. Usually the first 3 minutes tell us whether we are in for a romp or turgid hell.
  6. You are that confident of Rovers' promotion?
  7. From reports I read, the ref bottled giving two red cards to Spurs. Great win, still think we are more than likely to go down judging from the remaining fixtures of clubs below us but we have given ourself a chance. Palace away on 1st May is on the same day as Luton home but City on the 23rd might give us a chance to slot 5 first team subs in as over age players...
  8. Sure the appointments of Steve Kean and JDT are indistinguishable from one another?
  9. The visit to Millwall is a do or die game for PNE. Lose and they are considerable oursiders for top 6. Win and they displace Millwall as the "what are they doing there?" club in possession of a top 6 place.
  10. The disadvantage of remote unlocking, push button starters and automatic transmission... Thankfully he didn't hurt or kill anybody.
  11. You must be very young and have no memory of Steve Kean.
  12. Norwich not going above us tonight 4-1 down to Boro in the River
  13. Absolutely not re Jerome. He is not an owner of Rovers and the up tick in Venkys performance as owners might coincide with him no longer advising. His current predicament incidentally might be poetic justice but not a fate I would wish on anyone, even him.
  14. Hull City let goals in but score at the other end. Being without Estupian and Connolly hopefully will blunt them a little.
  15. Kompany has used loans brilliantly. Got the maximum number and they all worked out. Big challenge this summer what to do next on those 5.
  16. I suspect Pears' better distribution is swaying the decision. It is also sending a message that when you get a first team chance, you get a proper chance. Really important when there are so many Academy hopefuls they don't make their debut as a bundle of nerves thinking the 15 minutes off the bench is the only opportunity they might ever get. Must be hugely frustrating for TK though and I suspect he might move on in the summer with mutual thanks and appreciation.
  17. After Hull which is massive and has the advantage of knowing every other result in the Championship, the chips really go onto the table. JDT faces a management challenge I struggle to think of any equivalent. To go up, Rovers have to prevail in 8 BACK TO BACK GAMES AGAINST PROMOTION RIVALS. Yes a monster for the players but will JDT face such a management task in his career before or ever again? He is going to be tested. Good luck Jon Dahl, we are all counting on you!
  18. Extremely bad practise but only happened after years of not finding a buyer acceptable to the Trust under the terms the Trustees had to work to and after that individual had all but forced himself on them. Similarly now, the Venkys have their own internal rules of decision making and standards by which they would consider a potential offer for the club. We might not agree the standards these two owners set (and reputedly Jack set some barriers for the Trustees which today most would regard as problematic) but that is the privilege of owners. Big but Those standards have protected Rovers from fates far worse than Venkys and I would argue with now considerable conviction that nobody would have issue with 3 of the 4 decision makers who make decisions by unanimity in the Venkys ownership. However The advisers to the Venkys which Venkys decided to be advised by included some of the worst people imaginable. I was as passionately against what was happening in the period 2010 to 2017 as anyone on this chat board and unlike many put time and effort into trying to do something about it. I have learnt in life that the best thing is to learn, not to carry grudges, not to live in a what might have been world and to try to evaluate the situation as it is in the real world today. That is why I am asking everyone to look at the situation today and as it has been since the appointment of Tony Mowbray some six years ago. Not perfect but I would take Rovers' current ownership situation over that of 90% of the othe 91 clubs in the PL/EFL.
  19. The FFP ceiling argument is supported by the fact we had 6 months under a transfer ban just before Waggott was appointed. And I think we all appreciate the prioritisation of allocation of non-FFP counting funds to the Cat A Academy.
  20. If your decisions on buying a club wrecked it and you have been let down time and again by advisors who were supposedly acting for you but lining their own pockets And there are no decent buyers What is the decent thing to do? Ensure the Academy is funded Appointment of decent experienced management within budget who can manage to budget (which is enforced by FFP) Finance the club to the maximum allowed by FFP Keep out of the way and let management do their job. What have Venkys done since the Coyle debacle? All of the above.
  21. It is 30 years since I ceased being a Chartered Accountant (voluntarily) so I would like someone to explain how an Indian business would launder its debts in England.
  22. Luton have been building a new stadium since before Eric Morecambe was a director there. They have abandoned the idea of moving to Dunstable and are now going to pitch up (ha ha) near the railway station with a 17,500 seater with minimal ends allowing for it to be increased to 23,000 in the future. Seems to be financially linked to a hotel and retail park development by the M1 which might not get OK'd because it is green field.
  23. Don't lose sight of the fact Hull have become dangerous opponents. They typically play 4-2-3-1 but have switched to 4-4-2 in the last 4 away games in which they have won 1 and drawn 3. So I sort of expect JDT to stick with the 4-3-3 that (mostly) worked at Huddersfield with perhaps Gally and Thomas back as the only changes.
