In my post earlier I explained that I have an understand boss. see post below

if you read my reply to your post earlier(posted above) I highlighted what it was like as I child during up in my early years of being a Rovers fan and my family not having much money. since 1996/97 season I have had a season ticket ever since then

I haven't done many away games this season due to me buying my 1st house with my girlfriend and I sacrifices away games to do work the house need redecorating, new furniture, etc

Next season I have said to my best friend who I go games with that I would like to do 6 or 7 away games

Stuart, She is my girlfriend for 5 years and I will ask her to marry me in Edinburgh on 1st of June. She doesn't know anything about it either. But she is practically my wife tho. but I remember your post about when I posted about her being ill and your concern was grateful and I thanks you for that

I missed a number of away games when she wasn't well but she forced me to go the home games. Since then we had been well and getting stronger day by day.

I hope she doesn't read this forum then. I think you need to stop posting until after the game mate.

well firstly Blueboy, I will just reply this once cos you are on the ignore list but I still get notifications

If I lost my job? very unlikely to happen as I am very experience at my job and have over 7 years of the industry which most of the staff don't have and I don't make many errors all year.

Secondly, I paid for my season ticket in full so I don't pay monthly so I wouldn't have that problem.

Thirdly, My missus lost her job a couple of weeks ago but she worked only part time and she kept most of that money for herself, as I have a good paid job and paid for majority of things and have savings aswell. I live within my means for many years.

so don't start judging people or their circumstances or asking personal questions as it none of your concern.

Blimey Chaddy you have told Blueboy not to ask personal questions then you tell us all that about your life.

firstly, I do enjoyed your well balanced post and one of the post in recent times. even tho I disagree on certain points.

back in the 90's(93-96) My family didn't have much money and I remember my dad asking me do I want a PlayStation and a game every month(£10-15) or go and watch a Blackburn Rovers football game every month and just one computer game per year(FIFA game), I choose the live football game, and any games I didn't go to I used to listen to Radio Lancashire every weekend or go to my Nan's to watch the game if it was on TV. I was hook on football straight away, I would a lot of kids are now. My Step Daughter loves going to the games and want a season ticket next season.

I would always be at Rovers home league games even if it means quitting work or ringing in sick, But I very lucky that my boss is diehard Liverpool fan and understand my need to be at Rovers game. But I can completely understand a lot of people aren't lucky enough to have understanding boss like mine.

But if you quit your job you wouldn't be able to afford a season ticket...............would you? ?

We've got to understand that Rovers is also a business and rightly or wrongly its up to the CEO to raise as much income as possible taking all things into account. Its his judgement. Having said that I know exactly how I feel when a cost goes up above the normal inflation rate especially when kids are involved.

COYB - we are going uP :rover:

Asda, Sainsburys and all the big supermarkets are businesses too but if there prices increased by 15% overnight people would shop elsewhere.

Your last sentence and the feel good factor in the town has been exploited by the club in my opinion but it could backfire on them.

As an aside I wonder if Cheston will be re engaging the staff who were laid off at the end of last season due to cutbacks following relegation. Somehow I don't think this will happen.

  5. Maths was never my strong point but I reckon my season ticket in the JW Upper has gone up by 15%. I honestly can't believe that there is justification for such a substantial increase in one go particularly when inflation, RPI and the other indicators are much, much lower than this. I honestly believe that this will deter so many of the lapsed and potentially new fans from investing in season tickets.

Another point is for adults who take kids but the adult can't make night matches during term time for a plethora of reasons. Given that there are likely to be about seven of these it increases the cost per game substantially and could put quite a few off. This was mentioned to me by somebody who is in such a position with a couple of kids.

You haven't been watching Franck Ribery playing for Bayern this season. He's 35 yet often looks the fittest and fastest (and best) player on the pitch - he gave the Real defence the runaround in the recent semi-final.  Age isn't a factor as much as hunger and enthusiasm for the game and keeping oneself very fit. Conway looks as if he could lose a pound or two.

There are exceptions to every rule Jim. Ribery has been consistently good for years now. If he had been poor he wouldn't have survived. Almost the antithesis of Conway who just hasn't done it for me and not deserving of a new deal.

Very worrying to hear the way TM is bulling up Conway. It would be a shocking decision to offer him a new deal of any sort imo, especially if funds are limited.

He is 33 now and not worthy of a new deal in my opinion. His wages could be put to far better use. He could probably get himself a two year deal somewhere else to see him finish his career.

  8. The window opens on May 17th and closes on August 9th. With players on holiday and pre season things will need to move quickly. In the past there has tended to be lots of movement towards the end of August when squads are settling down and players become surplus to requirements. We will need to be on the ball.

    neither.

But that's for Ipswich fans to decide not me. A lot of fans wanted a change after 6 years of Mick McCarthy in charge and his tactics.

Lets see who they appoint. still think it will be Steve McClaren myself

Lets give Campbell a chance before writing him off.

I think you should post that on an Ipswich fans website and see their response.

The thread title for this on the Ipswich forum simply reads "Sol Campbell - WTF?"

Paul Ince mk 2. Campbell will be a disaster with his arrogant and aloof attitude. I saw an Ipswich fan on TV recently who was annoying at people saying 'be careful what you wish for' after McCarthy announced he was leaving. Well they really should be careful what they wish for now.

We were in a season where we needed Promotion. Thats matters more. I did suggest playing Travis in a recent game to freshen things up

I really pleased that The players and Johnson/Dunn won the league. Great achievement

Rakeem Harper played more games for us than any of our own players. What about Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham? If you are good enough you are old enough.

  13. Terrific for Accrington and great credit to the owner, staff and players who have greatly punched above their weight to prove that money isn't always the key to being successful in football. It will be interesting to see how much they increase their playing budget by next season. I don't think it will be massive as their owner seems to be grounded and realistic.

Then on the flip side, the owners may think why keep a Cat 1 Academy going?

Though, these days a lot of managers may think; why do long term planning/take a risk, i.e blooding youngsters in a promotion hunting campaign when they’re a run of bad results from the sack?

Last season a relegation scrap, this season a promotion challenge and another potential relegation scrap next season. According to Mowbrays logic that could be three seasons without any of these talented kids being given a real opportunity to become a first team regular. And meanwhile the squad is bolstered by the likes of Caddis, Whittingham, Samuel and the guy who thinks he is better than Dack.

  15. I think (although I don't know for sure) that Rovers hands are somewhat tied here due to the restrictive nature of the Northcote agreement. Northcote see themselves as some kind of blue chip company and charge silly prices. I won one of the 1875 draws this season and the prize was hospitality for two. The food was average and the choice limited. I took my granddaughter and she had chicken nuggets and chips. Quite frankly McDonalds is better than what she got. I also believe that Northcote don't have any control over the Blues Bar hence the choices and prices which are much more reasonable.

For an event like this it should be pie and peas or a one course meal such as curry or chilli.

Ha, Blackwell was a brave boy. Where you reffing that one?

I wasn't but a close friend was. The incident happened right outside the referees changing room so he saw the lot including Warnocks lackey scurrying out of the disused corridor that divided the away changing room and referees room.
