  1. No great lover of Coyle, but if Lambert was the "bees knees" and Coyle is as bad as people think, would Graham seriously have signed.I think this allied to the strength of the backroom staff, who were instrumental in suggesting Coyle's appointment, paints a more positive approach. Lambert said all the right things but achieved very little..

Are you really comparing Coyle and Lambert as managers? Or are you forgetting who brought Irvine and Kelly in? Pretty sure they must have held Lambert in high regard to come here in the first place.

I think you are making a mistake if you are being taken in by Coyles 'positivity'.

  2. Fasten your seat belts

    http://orangeintheoven.com/2016/05/07/owen-coyles-job-line/

Unfortunately the team which he assembled in his own image has shown itself to be a steaming pile of garbage. If this really is the team Coyle wanted then the only conclusion is that he has no idea what he’s doing. If that is the case– and it certainly looks more and more likely that it is– then Owen Coyle must be fired.

Coyle’s tenure with the Dynamo has been very poor.

Ah but I can hear the people who want to give him a chance saying 'what do the Americans know about football'? Didn't the Bolton fans nickname him clueless and the comments from Dave Whelan are similar to the Houston supporters comments.

The man is a bullshitter and has blagged his way into jobs and (with one exception) crashed and burned. His interviews are full of superlatives (he likes the word magnificent), something that makes me wary straight away.

  3. I do agree with you in the sense that a proper training and fitness regime leads to less injuries.Just saying that in that instance the injuries at Bolton didn't have much to do with the way Coyle was training then,Holden had his leg broken in a match if memory serves me correctly.Hopefully with Chris Neville being involved with the fitness and conditioning side of things then we should be ok with the fitness of the squad.

Chris Neville was there under Bowyer when we had probably the most unfit side in years. If the manager takes a hard line regime players will follow. If Coyle wants to be one of the boys like Bowyer ill discipline will follow.

  4. Hibs fans have a pitch invasion like you see all the time, but Rangers are sore losers.

Luckily not a repeat of the 1980 one though.

114 years without winning the cup, losing 10 finals in that time, including a 5-1 hammering by their biggest rivals Hearts a few years ago.

    Great game of football.

Reports of six Rangers players and staff having received medical attention after being assaulted by Hibs fans on the pitch. Absolutely shocking scenes and no deserved lap of honour for Hibs.

  5. 550 from Orient so probably 1,000 extra.

A ridiculous piece of fixture planning once again. London to Accrington on Good Friday and similarly Southend were at Rochdale, Wigan at Swindon, Wimbledon at Hartlepool, Carlisle at Yeovil and Crawley at York. My sympathy however goes to Plymouth and their fans who didn't make it to Morecambe.

The Football League should be brought to book by their member clubs for their complete disregard for supporters.

  6. Agree. But we've had a few poxy 0-1 defeats that if had turned around we could be coming into a run of form higher up the table.

But yes, this season is one for consolidation and see what the summer brings.

Hypothetically how many of the 1-0 defeats we have had under Lambert do you think would happen if we had to play them with our current team? I think we would have got nine points from the Bolton, Reading, Cardiff and Brighton games.

  7. Just seen this

Has to be one of the worst decisions of all time, defies logic the whistle goes after the shot is taken

I often hear football fans say 'it's the worst decision I have ever seen' but for me this definitely is. I have been involved on football a long time and try to be pragmatic and see things from both sides but there is absolutely no defence for this. And the referee cannot be punished from the match assessor because in Law he was correct.

I really hope it doesn't come back to bite Accrington in the promotion campaign.

  8. Moon was indeed very impressive. Enjoyed the game but nightmare trying to decide where to go after coming out of the car park and along to what used to be the main road. Think I broke just about every rule

I think JAL thought you were referring to a player called Moon. I thought our two centre backs were impressive and may follow in the footsteps of Hanley, Jones and O'Connell in having decent careers. There was a good pace and intensity to the game and Luton played their part.

  9. Seen a few images where Suarez is well inside the D when messi touches the ball. So one way or the other, shouldn't have stood!

And, I always thought you had to be behind the ball AND behind the last defender to be onside? Unless it's a pass released when opponents are stood in your half? Is it enough if you just stay behind the ball?? And not behind the last defender??

You have to be nearer to the goal line than the ball to be offside. The number of opponents and where they are is immaterial. That is why you can't be offside from a corner because the ball cannot go forward.

The vast majority of penalties have, one way or another players who don't respect being the required distance away from the ball. When was the last time you saw a retake for this?

  10. Suarez was behind the ball but ahead of the last line of defence. Yes, it was onside, I feel.

But, correct me if I am wrong, doesn't the ball player have to be behind the last defender? In this case, Messi had only the goalkeeper ahead of him. Suarez might well have been onside but I reckon the ball has to be played in from a position before the last defender? Or atleast that's what the crux of the argument is on the net. Actually pretty interesting few thoughts and exchanges about it on Twitter and FB. A guy who was at the stadium said the linesman called over the referee for a word after the goal was scored probably clarifying the same.

Or is this all barmy and have these guys(me included) understood the offside rule wrong? But my point was more a general one. Why do teams not try this often? You have a simple tap in compared to a 50/50 penalty. Shouldn't be allowed is what I think.

Suarez could only be offside if he was closer to the goal line than the ball i.e. ahead of the ball. He has to be behind the ball at the taking of a penalty and 9.15 metres away (as have all the players). This makes it impossible to be offside.

  11. From the Daily Record-----"Kean also kept Blackburn up on the last day of the season after replacing Sam Allardyce in Dec 2010"

    !!!!!!!!!WTF?

It's just bone idle, lazy journalism. These myths were perpetuated by his spin machine and idle journalists just believe it. I would love for some English club to take a punt on the c*** and watch him gloriously fail.

  12. Mahoney needs to have a crack - can hardly do any worse than Taylor has on the flank the past couple of games. He seems to have two good feet, a trick or two, and most importantly, a goal or two in him.

However, I doubt that our former academy manager will blood any of our youngsters.

Bowyer answered your question only recently.

    http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/13900054.Gary_Bowyer_not_prepared_to_rush_Blackburn_Rovers_youngsters_into_first_team_squad/

  13. for me, both Tomlinson and Mahoney should be around the first team/subs.

Need a manager who will play the academy players

I might be wrong but I seem to recall a debate I had with you where you said you wouldn't have any of the younger players in the first team squad. I think Nyambe was at the heart of the discussion. What has changed your mind?

Apologies if it wasn't you as my memory isn't what it used to be.

  14. He was perfect for us at the time and allowed us to be proud of our club again with his achievements. Hopefully he has already met up with his great friend Mick Heaton and they are sharing great memories.

  15. Unless you have the cash to make the Indians an offer they can't refuse I don't see how you change it. The bottom line is that we need someone with wealth to prop the club up because of the infrastructure that Jack built up. If we didn't we simply couldn't maintain what Jack left us, let alone try to move forward. However, I totally agree that they have brought about our downfall through gross mismanagement. At the moment we are between a rock and a hard place and whatever we do from here one suspects that the outcome isn't going to be great.

I agree and not having a clue what is going to happen and feeling helpless is the real worry and source of frustration. I think that the longer they take this stance and keep the current incumbents at Ewood the fall will be much harder.

  16. Let's be honest Gavlar, when you've watched the club when it was bottom of Division Three, you know that it could always be worse! There are many ways it could always be worse.

And with a shrug of the shoulders we accept this? I could agree with you if it hadn't been for wholly avoidable situation we find ourselves in through gross mismanagement.

And I have watched the club at the bottom of the old Division Three and I certainly don't want to go back there.

  17. In a normal world yes i would agree. However, we live in Venky's world. The only managerial appointment they have got right so far is appointing Bowyer, who without, we would already be in League 1. The other three managers have been nothing short of diasterous (although i think Berg could have worked out)

I don't agree with the without Bowyer we would be in League One bit. That spell he had turned on a penalty we were awarded at Millwall which, frankly was never a penalty. He is quite often painted as some kind of magician for saving us. Well I was at the Watford game immediately before the Millwall win and that was probably the worst performance from a Rovers team that I can remember. He bemoans our luck now but he certainly got lucky at Millwall.

  18. I too felt we would be in trouble this year, but changing manager wont make a blind bit of difference. A change of ownership is needed.

If we get a new manager, he wont be able to sign anyone on over £10k in January. That is chronically pathetic by board/owners.

Surely we have to deal with the immediate problem which is the position we are in. This is what needs fixing in the short term and this can only come about with a change of manager. I firmly believe a new manager could massively improve the squad simply by organising us, setting us up correctly for each game and picking the best team.

I wholeheartedly agree we need other massive off the field changes but that will take a lot longer. Blackburn Rovers in League One would be disastrous.

  19. This weeks stooge is Tommy Spurr. He thinks we deserve to be in the top 6 already.

The, hopefully temporarily, deluded Spurr says Were all behind him and were all buying into what him and his staff are trying to do'' - why is it we are never actually told what it is that they are trying to do. That broad statement does my feckin head in.

    http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/13635821.Tommy_Spurr__Players_are_right_behind_Blackburn_Rovers_boss_Gary__Bowyer/?ref=mac

I assume Myers writes the scripts for the players and that's why he's too busy fire fighting to communicate outside of Ewood

Ifs, buts and maybes. There is no column on the table for being unlucky. The most important column tells me we have three points from a possible fifteen.

I wonder what excuse they will come out with at the end of October when we are cut adrift.

  20. There are worse teams on paper than us but they aren't saddled with this shambles of a club which just crawls along like a rudderless ship. Unless the club gets sorted I think we'll go down because there is no one who can stop it happening.

And if it got down to a real scrap who would you want as your manager? The likes of Lennon and Evans or Boreyer?
