  1. That must have been some halftime team talk! We started each half really well and ended them not too good. Once again we have conceded two sloppy goals and this gives Mowbray something to think about. Overriding this though was the result and if any Premier League team have scored a goal as good as our third the pundits will be orgasmic. The performance of Dack was enlightening and for the first time in years I can get genuinely excited when a Rovers player is in possession. Mulgrew was Mulgrew and Downing does the basics well. They have forged a decent partnership which will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season. There are still plenty of areas to improve on but winning is the most important thing and we are doing.

    Long may it continue.

  2. We have, on paper the most difficult fixture of all the teams in and around the promotion and play off positions I believe. Peterborough can score goals as their 31 for and 29 against suggests. In that respect they are similar to us so it might be a case of us having to score two or three to win. I think it's important to keep this winning run going and in fairness Mowbray seems to have found a system in away games whereby we counter attack and score a high percentage of our chances.

Hopefully for the 1000+ fans it will be a happy journey home.

  3. Given their spiteful behaviour so far I would imagine they will try and inflict as much damage as possible. If they are propping the club up financially could they stop and force the club into administration? If they can that would potentially bring about a 12 point deduction and a certain relegation scrap. The joy of the Blackpool fans have to be tempered by the fact that as long as they hold the keys to the castle they can do damage.

If I was a Blackpool fan, I would hardly be feeling euphoric this morning.

Think this could all get really nasty and I am not sure where the football club will end up.

You may well be right in the long run but seeing the Oystons publicly vilified with no right of appeal would certainly please me if I was a fan.

Players like Chapman that rely on bursts of pure pace are always liable to that sort of injury.

I remember when Trevor Francis, a similarly quick wide player, signed for Forest for a British transfer record somebody asked Bill Shankly why Liverpool weren't interested in signing him. He said " Because he'll spend as much time on the treatment bench as he will playing ". He wasn't far wrong, Francis was plagued with similar injuries all his career.

In all honesty at that time nobody really knew what or where a hamstring was. It's another modern football phenomenon.

I recall Francis having a career threatening ruptured Achilles. I saw a picture of the scars during his rehabilitation. Nowadays it would probably be done by laser.

  6. He was clearly struggling on Saturday but went back on after receiving treatment. I said to my brother that it was stupid to send him back on as it could make the injury worse. I don't know if it did but there were shades of  Lenihan at Southend when he played on with a foot injury whilst pretty much hobbling.

    Unprofessional.

  7. I have supported Mowbray in the past but my patience is fast running out as we just cannot put together a consistent 70 or 80 minute spell in any one game. Even before the season started the more knowledgeable Rovers fans saw the need for an ugly, raw boned centre half who would kick and head anything. Similarly we could have done with a big striker with the same virtues. We got neither. Instead we have too many fancy Dan players who want time on the ball and far too many touches. On the whole Mowbrays signings simply haven't been good enough. I didn't like his interview when he pretty much said he is reluctant to put youngsters in but in all honesty can they be as bad as some of the current incumbents. He is playing catch up for me now and I now have doubts whether he is up to it.

That said he can't be blamed for poor set plays and awful decision making by players on far too many occasions this season. I have questioned the players attitude on several occasions this season when far too many of them don't seem to want to do the hard yards and ugly side of the game. At this level it's a prerequisite and if you don't, well we've seen the evidence for ourselves.

I think last night summed up the conundrum about Chapman perfectly came on created havoc with his pace and directness showing why people think he should be started but then just after his goal he had 2 players unmarked in the box and tries to go for glory showing why people think he should be used from the bench as still has a lot to learn

He did but I don't think his inexperience was the issue. This season I have seen several experienced players going for goal when team mates were better placed to score.

  9. Them answers could have been from Kean or Coyle. To be honest I find it insulting after playing, refereeing and watching football for over 50 years that our manager comes out with banile drivel like that. He admits that the defence is not the most mobile in the world and still picks the same players and played Dack out wide on Saturday who couldn't defend to save his life.

I'm rapidly running out of patience with the nonsense he is spouting.

I wouldnt think they make anything on the actual sale of the programmes but will make money on the adverts that are placed in it.

In the Championship we only produced 3000 programmes per match. Will be even less now.

When I was working I dealt with a few different printers for labels and forms and the biggest cost was in setting the printing presses up. I always got a better price for buying larger quantities i.e. £100 for 1000 and £50 for every 1000 after that. I would expect the Rovers programmes to be the same otherwise somebody isn't doing their job properly.

The only reason I wouldn't actually do that Tony is if the situation is as Parson says, some kid with zero experience and no deep understanding of our club is trying his  level best in demanding circumstances.

I wouldn't want someone at that stage of their career being humiliated when the blame lies a little higher.

Parson has mentioned we have a head of media. He's been here quite a few years now but it's a fair bet 95% of fans wouldn't know his name or recognise him in the street.

    I'll make no further comment!

That is fair enough Jim but if nobody complains then the club will just carry on producing an inferior product which doesn't appear to represent value for money. Maybe one for the Fans Forum to bring up.

Do you know if the club make any profit on programme sales?

"I genuinely sit here and think we maybe need to try and accelerate him and I don’t want to take him out of what he’s enjoying which is scoring lots of goals for the Under-23s"

Mowbray comes out with some weird comments. The U'23's exist so that players can break through to the 1st team, not so they can enjoy themselves with no pressure. Get him in the first team if he's good enough.

That is one strange comment. Using that logic he might as well stay in the u23's for the rest of the season whilst he is scoring. Reading between the lines it's Mowbray telling us not to expect him (or any others) to be in the first team soon.

They probably signed Antonsson based on Nuttalls record over the last couple of seasons if they had gone with just Nuttall as a first team signing this forum would have gone into meltdown.

My point was that he has done well enough in pre season and since to earn a chance.

He better had start in what is an Academy biased competition.

Joe needs to be given some first team bench time and usage.

The last time I saw the first team squad numbers Nuttall didn't have one. I know they can be registered but surely this lad deserves one and as you quite rightly say some first team involvement. Antonsson was played as the lone striker on Wednesday and looked like a lost little boy. Nuttall has some physical presence and scores goals.

    Strange really.

Regardless good communication strengthens good team work imo. Can he take instructions and problem solve on the pitch ?

You witnessed an experienced Rovers back four yesterday against tough opposition would Nyambe's inclusion have helped or hindered the Rovers team at Bradford.

I don't believe Nyambe would have weakened us at all if he had been playing at right back yesterday. He is far more comfortable in a back four and he does offer more than Caddis going forward although yesterday both full backs were quite restrained.
