  1. Pocket the cash, save the wage, use Wharton as 3rd CH and spend the money on a LB.
  2. Don't think that will do his reputation any good the way they're shaping.
  3. Or £15m and not bother with either of above.
  4. Yes, theoretically as I understand it any deals between domestic Clubs can go through before 5p.m. on the 16th with the exception that PL Clubs can't do deals between themselves after 5p.m. tonight. Edit: hope we don't see a big last minute departure then the cmplaint that we couldn't bring a replacement in because all our targets were allegedly European..........
  5. Slightly harsh on Bell, given his recent form, completely agree with the rest, I think someone's having us on about the European scouting system.
  6. I'm agreeing with you. What I meant was, headline prices will be the same for everyone next season but the renewers this season will get a credit against the price. I do however think it would be naive in the extreme to think that there won't be a corresponding price hike over the next 1-2 seasons to compensate for the "refund" meaning that anyone going back to it after a season's break faces a double hike in prices which is a massive deterrent. For me prices should have been (at the very worst) frozen for this season and anyone renewing at a difficult time should have had the promise of a price freeze for next season as well. Other prices for new customers next season could have gone up but at least anyone who didn't renew this time round for obvious reasons wouldn't have been facing such an off-putting scenario next summer.
  7. I don't buy that line. Dolan looked flat on Saturday but then they all did. Physically you should be capable of playing seven days a week at that age I've heard it said that younger players find it harder to achieve consistency at that age which is fair enough, but I'd say that about any player, if they're dipping below their normal levels, take them out of the firing line for a bit. Not leave them in indefinitely because they're "experienced".
  8. Allegedly. I think the sooner he goes the better before he causes any more damage.
  9. This is key Stuart but I can't see any alternative the way he's done it, he's locked us into an extremely slippery slope. The way it should have been done is to charge for season passes at i follow rates whilst there's no attendance then upgrade to the full price when fans are allowed back in. Not hike up prices massively now but attempt to sweeten it by a supposed credit against next season's ticket which will no doubt be cancelled out by price increases over the next couple of seasons anyway. That "refund" would only have had any real value used in conjunction with a promise of a price freeze for next season as well. Meanwhile, anyone who decided to give it a miss this season for whatever reason, faces the prospect of a double increase for next season when prices are hiked again to cover this season's "refund" as obviously you can't let a new customer in cheaper than an existing one. In a ham-fisted attempt to get a bit more money into the building on a very short term basis, he probably doesn't even realise the extent of the damage he's likely to have done yet.
  10. Unless he was injured in that bad challenge just beforehand I wouldn't actually have taken him off. It's a bit like leaving Armstrong or any player of real quality on, they might not be having their best game but you still feel that if a chance falls to them or you need a moment of inspiration they're still your most likely source. Again with hindsight, after they went down to 10 Dolan was just the sort of player we needed on the pitch to find a moment of magic as we huffed and puffed. I also hate the term "impact sub". Too often a byword for leaving your most effective player out. It should be reserved for the odd occasion when you need to try something different and go more direct for the last 15 mins and bring on an alehouse centre forward like Kuqi!
  11. What a ludicrous statement. So it's easier to line up with 9 behind the ball than 10 is it? It's a wonder everyone doesn't try it and announce 10 names on the team sheet half an hour before the game.
  12. Hindsight's a wonderful thing but it would have been absolutely ludicrous to rest Dolan after the way he was playing. Prior to Saturday he's looked by far our best player every time he's turned out. Yes, as events turned out Cardiff had taken note of his impact and doubled or even trebled up on him but I wouldn't say he was significantly any worse than the likes of Holtby, Rothwell and Brereton who had also previously shone but who also failed to make any impact whatsoever. The worry for me is not that TM will overplay Dolan, it's that he will use one ordinary game as an excuse to do what you're doing and say that he isn't ready or needs resting. If Dolan fails to perform over an extended period of time then sure but I've always had the sense with Mowbray that young players have to absolutely rip it up when they get a chance or be left out again whereas historically certain older players like Bennett, Evans, Graham in his latter days and now Gallagher could be rubbish month after month yer their place would never be in any jeopardy and the manager can't wait to get them back onto the pitch if they've been out.
  13. Really poor performance, seemingly as soon as we came up against a well organised outfit we didn't have a clue how to break them down. The stand out performers in recent weeks Dolan, Holtby, Brereton and Rothwell didn't get going and I thought Armstrong was poor again, in a game that scrappy you have to take your odd chances when they come. Most worrying for the future was the fact that Mowbray seemingly couldn't wait to withdraw Brereton and Dolan and reintroduce the useless Gallagher back into the fray. A bit of a wake up call after the last 2 games.
  14. You forgot the plagues of locusts and frogs.
  15. You've hit the nail on the head there Stuart. **** things up completely, shrug your shoulders and as you say "pass the bill onto Venky's for the difference" possibly because they don't know any better. Then "Do pass go, do collect your £300k p.a." Nice job to have. Everyone should have one.
  16. As regards the transfer window, on the basis that any midfielder coming in at this stage would probably only be a squad member as opposed to an automatic starter, I'd rather see Buckley and even Davenport get a chance than be pushed still further down the pecking order. We do need a quality LB though. Back up keeper you could probably get away without, but you are taking a gamble that Kaminski won't pick up a serious injury.
  17. I'm not ignoring it. I wouldn't have put prices up by 15 - 25 % in the middle of the same nor waited until it looked almost inevitable that further local restrictions were coming in to put them on sale!
  18. I hope so, I've always said I can glimpse a bit of a player in BB trying to get out but he does need to stop falling over the ball in front of an empty net etc when he gets an opening. I get no such sense watching Gallagher. If he re-emerges from injury as a 20 goal a season striker it's time to get the men in the white coats and drag me away. ?
  19. Sorry to hear about your job situation. The fact that games are being streamed doesn't bother me from the point of view of buying a season pass. I don't agree with any of the restrictions or regulations regarding Covid from the word go but if the Government decree that's the way it is then that's not the Club's fault and it doesn't detract from my interest in the games at all. However surely you can agree that as many people are likely to be struggling and/or in a similar boat to yourself job wise, it was utter insanity to raise prices for what by your own admission is an inferior product?
  20. How can you possibly say 2.5k sales is acceptable? How can that possibly be the threshold when last seasons figure was at least 8.5k? I've no doubt you'd have said the same if the figure was 1500 or 1k. "Done well in the circumstances" ?
  21. If Waggott had been sent in to deliberately wreck the Club, he really couldn't have done a better job than that.
  22. I think the point is that we only picked him up once he fell out of favour with his parent Club and presumably had his details circulated to would be suitors. It would be a better endorsement of the much vaunted Euripean scouting network if we'd discovered a previously unheard of up an coming hidden gem who we'd prised screaming and kicking out of unwilling sellers. To be fair, as well we don't know whether Kaminsky is much good yet as he hasn't really been tested. Early signs are he looks OK which in itself would be a massive upgrade on Walton.
  23. No different from people claiming when BB looked like a disaster that he was "a project signing" foisted upon an unwilling TM by the owners against his wishes. Now he is showing signs of promise he will no doubt become the manager's man and a stroke of genius all along!
