  1. To which our reply should have been, fair enough, you can go there in summer if you like but if you're not available to play in the meantime you'll be in breach of contract and won't get paid.
  2. Rothwell can't force the issue. He can refuse to sign a new deal but has no say on whether he leaves or not this window. If he goes Rovers CHOSE to let him go.
  3. Not straw clutching but My mate's son has pointed out that Sharpe's twitter feed is saying that the situation from Rovers end on Rothwell is that it is basically unchanged. I.e. no sale without replacents first. Are we saying he's completely wrong?
  4. It certainly will. So far it's + £2.5m? £3.3 m in for Rothwell less 800k for Markanday and Hedges? To say we need a big day tomorrow is the understatement of all time. Around £12.5m to be spent tomorrow then. 🙄
  5. Den, you mentioned Fred Pick before. It was slightly before my time but I'd imagine there's a huge difference. Back then I guess we needed to sell to survive. The difference here is Venky's don't need the relatively nominal fee we'll get for Rothwell. We haven't sold for financial reasons, we've done it because Mowbray has seemingly persuaded the owners he can be clever and wheel and deal to improve the squad. Whether or not that can actually be done remains to be seen. I'm expecting the excuse that everything happened too close to the end of the window to do anything much tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong.
  6. Did they buy Dembele as well? Good window for them. Meanwhile we're scratching around with a loan or two and a couple of cheap punts. Could all change tomorrow of course but based on past performance I'm not hopeful.
  7. Well, yes, apologies for the profanity but that doesn't change my view on it one iota. I'm beyond incandescent. It would be bad enough selling to your main promotion rivals in itself but when your sat 2nd in the table for the first time in a decade and the manager who should be fighting tooth and nail to keep the side together seemingly has talked the owners who didn't want to sell into a sale.............. If a Burnley fan was trying to write a sitcom taking the piss out of Rovers he simply couldn't top that.
  8. We're not. Hence if you bother to read my post properly I said "If the wheels fall off" I.e. If selling Rothwell and attempting to replace him elsewhere turns out to have a clearly detrimental effect. I didn't mean if we play really well until the end of the season and miss out on goal difference etc.
  9. Sorry, think that's absolute rubbish. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating of course but what's £3.3m in the general scheme of things if as a result the wheels fall off at our end and Bournemouth go up? Could work the other way of course but if not it's probably one of the worst if not the worst single decision in the history of the Club. Certainly the most costly at £100m plus parachute payments minimum. A risk we simply didn't need to take.
  10. I'll drive the twat down to the Hawthorns free of charge.. Be too late to salvage the window now probably though unfortunately.
  11. Why is is not Mowbray's fault then Len? 1) Rothwell goes nowhere this month without the Club's say so. 2) By his own admission he had to talk the owners into letting him sell Rothwell. Please explain.
  12. So much for Rothwell not being sold before replacements come in then. Mowbray's a lying bustard isn't he.
  13. Yes, rather than sell to Bournemouth. No brainer isn't it?
  14. Calm down Mike, you're acting like a bride jilted at the altar.
  15. So if someone contacted you and offered six times your salary you wouldn't be curious and want to know a bit more about it? Sorry, anyone who says they wouldn't isn't being truthful there.
  16. Take it up with Jimmy then.
  17. Nonsense. The Club don't want the player to go anywhere this month he doesn't go. End of.
  18. So in your view it would be unacceptable for a player to want to go to to a rival but OK for the Club to sell him to one?
  19. The fee quoted for him when we were linked with him last time was £4m. His stock must have dropped dramatically. Wouldn't mind him as back up in midfield but a Rothwell replacement?
  20. I'd say the exact opposite how can the manager even contemplate a sale to our nearest rivals for automatic promotion. If he is doing so I refuse to believe anyone could be that stupid, I could only assume he's doing it to get back at the Club as they haven't offered him a new deal.
  21. All Rovers has to do is say no. The buck stops firmly with them
  22. Doesn't surprise me either. What was it Jimmy612 was saying that Park should be sacked if we haven't lined up replacement options?
  23. If we sell him to Bournemouth, only one person will have screwed us over, Tony Mowbray. Less so if he goes to a PL team but I still wouldn't sell £2-£4m weighed up against a minimum £190M over 3 years (Inc parachute payments even if we came straight back down.
