Not convinced our Sky live curse is fully lifted, a point will be decent, not least in the context of having won yesterday

Still scratching my head about this one. Since there’s no purchase option, this is a short term loan to help us make the playoffs…ok. So then we rate the player highly enough to think he can help push us on. But he’s coming from a team fighting relegation in the same division…they’re not really in a position to loan out impact players. Something doesn’t add up. Why would ‘uttersfield loan him out after extending him in the summer? If they don’t believe in him, sell him…if they do you’d think they’d need him to stay up.
Their manager's comments are along the lines that he doesn't think he is consistent.
More generally there is the view 'luxury' ie flair players aren't what you need to survive a relegation battle

2nd video of the interview with Gregg gives a lot more insight than we've probably ever had before into any transfer window. Credit to the club and Gregg for being as open as they are in it. Sounds like SVDB really pissed us about in the end given how much of the loan process was completed

Why couldn't the Riverside stand be named after Shearer or Dalglish? The RFS Riverside Stand sounds so soulless
Presumably it's still sponsored by RFS. Be thankful we never had to endure Venkys Arena or similar like Newcastle.

It's great he's signed on, but if he has a poor season there'll inevitably be some who say we were silly to give him a long contract.

If we keep BBD, he scores 20 this season then goes on a free, so be it - as long as it doesn't impact our budget next season.
Yes it makes little sense to lose an 8 figure asset for nothing, but even if we did sell, now or in Jan, that the money would be available to spend. It's still not clear where the Arma money went. So let's get 20+ goals from him this season and see where it takes us. On the extreme length of optimism, if we go up, maybe he signs on. Even if not, the money from promotion eclipses any potential transfer fee.

It doesn’t but the rumour in the press box this evening is it’s the asking price (whatever that is) with add ons included.
Sharpe has tweeted it isn't at the asking price

I know i didn't get duff info on Styles, I had it comfirmed at both ends, with CEO of blackburn a decent enough source i think? and the players agent the other.
I have heard zero to say that deal does not happen, although when you read things you get some doubts.
I had similar doubts when i said Rothwell was not going January, when most including the papers said it was done, i stuck to what i believed though and it proved to be right.
Things change all the time in football, and some of the delay has 100% been the possibility of a BBD sale meaning we had more to spend and other targets suddenly become attainable.
That sale is a far away now than it was when the summer started.
Ultimately, things can break down at any time, and no-one including the clubs or players can say something will 100% happen until its done. Thats football.
Absolutely. You only have to look at Mbappe - for all money was leaving, contract practically expired and then suddenly signs a mega deal in which he is apparently player/manager/director of football.

All these players we went for weeks ago, things need to fall in place.
Such as for a certain Styles perhaps?
On the other side of the coin, clubs will be waiting to see if we lower our value of BBD. But the Raos seem very stubborn in this regard.

Hirst saying he spoke to JDT a month ago about coming. Things are being kept quiet
Also goes to show how long a transfer can take to get completed, I imagine there will be others which drag out that don't come to fruition. Maybe those involved need to be cut some slack.

When was the last time we signed , not loaned , signed a player that was an upgrade on what we had ? Not a replacement for a player who left
Slightly cheating but Kaminski, given our keepers at that time were from the u23s

Panic signing - Raymond van Barneveld. Great at hitting the target, more trebles than Messi and Ronaldo combined.

The lancs live report puts their neck on the line. I notice they tend to report the same as the LET minutes after. If Phillips signs, it'll boost their reputation. If he doesnt it'll make them look silly, regardless of the fact the lad can change his mind.

Big blow to lose Phillips. No point playing him from now on.
Necessity tonight and continue as long as he has the temperament for it not to affect performance. Should it go to tribunal to set the fee, more appearances will support our claim for a larger fee

Clarkson was nowhere near up to it thats why, would have been suicidal to shoehorn him in. Its pretty obvious Van Den Berg is a different kettle of fish, he's been there done it.
I fully agree he wasn't of the required standard but I was responding to the point that we'd good dealings with Liverpool and given plenty of game time to loanees

Wheres this 30 game guarantee thing come from? A credible source or a dingle conjuring up excuses?
Van Hecke made 31 appearances last season, won player of the season and IMO walked away a better player for it. You could argue Elliott was the same I guess but he was already a class act. No silly guarantees or clauses should be required when we already have good recent dealings with Liverpool and also previous for giving loan players plenty of game time.
I'm not sure Liverpool or the player involved last season would agree, think he got about 5 appearances.
I'd be surprised if a 30 appearance clause is possible, more likely if 30 appearances aren't made across the season, we pay an additional fee

Lancs live has JDT stating he thinks we are close to a signing...but to ask Gregg.

Hedges 2 assists in 2 games. Yet some will still say he is useless.

In addition to Dack needing to build up his fitness - which might not be ideal in a tight match - does he have the mobility in the fluid front 4 that JDT seems to want? Not sure his game has him drifting wide and running the channels which all 4 need to do at times during the game.
As sad as it is to say, it may be that JDT doesn't see him fitting into the system. Team is always number one.

Do wonder if a half season loan for Dack to get him regular game time could be the way to go, but there'd have to be a heck of a lot of trust in the team he goes to and Dack may need to swallow his pride and go down a league (as well as us likely still have to pay the majority of his wages).

Hedges' end product needs consistency, but what do people expect given the level he has come from and to? What he does seem to have is vision and awareness, as well as some technical ability. The highlights below illustrate this, as well as Pickering playing a forward ball when he had an option down the line
