  1. Possibly, like the old McEwan or more recent crown/probiz(!!!) ones. Generally I don't like the panel as to me it unbalances the half shirt, but the contrast on that image works well
  2. Unless the solicitors have agreed to a very small logo and it will be an asymmetric design, don't think it will be - you wouldnt see half of their name.
  3. Along with the photoshoot for the new signing, this surely confirms the shade of blue on the home shirt. I quite like it.
  4. Need a midfielder who knows the club and people? After saving a couple of months' wages, Forshaw we do...welcome back Adam.
  5. Anyone saying it's a no brainer to give Batth the 2 years he apparently wants have short memories - we gave Ayala 3 years and the club was burnt by it. Granted Ayala's injury record was worse before joining but generally, a semi-serious injury in your mid thirties could see it very difficult to get back to anywhere near the level you are. I want him to sign on though, hopefully they're offering a second year based on an appearance-based clause.
  6. 1 year contracts are understandable at their age and particularly with Weimann's injury. If they want to leave, they literally can with nothing to stop them - but they've not signed for anyone either as far as we know. Personally, I'd try and tempt Batth with a 1 year contract with a clause for a 2nd year - 30 league starts for example.
  7. Interestingly, or perhaps not, a look at de neve's Instagram page has videos of a few goals, most being scored on his right. The YouTube highlights reel seemed to show him as left footed; we might actually have a winger willing to use his weaker side
  8. Perhaps Kagbo gets played on the right? With Beck having been put at LW at the first opportunity, maybe he wants wingers to cross the ball in rather than cutting in for a shot.
  9. Conceded within 5 mins unfortunately! But they got level shortly after.
  10. On pace rating that is a par with Wirtz and Nkuku
  11. The answer to this should be along the lines of 'to strengthen the squad as the player won't sign a new contract' but unfortunately it's more likely to be 'to keep overheads being paid and reduce the financial burden on the owners'
  12. Negotiated in line with the women's football league. Apparently in such an event, a relegation of at least 2 leagues has to occur. I suppose it avoids the scenario of the club finishing top the following season and being back in the same position i.e. not accepting/being able to comply with promotion.
  13. I believe so, has it been proven otherwise?
  14. I'm no fan of the Venkys and their ownership but the often made claim of asset stripping makes no sense given they're estimated to be at a loss of Β£200m. Had they taken over, sold anything of worth and then sold the club to turn gain an overall profit, then yes, that would have been asset stripping.
  15. Of course it's not good but can happen anywhere. Mbappe went for free - a player who could possibly have gone for a world record fee - while Liverpool had 3 of their key players in the same position, and look likely to lose 1 of them. So yes, we've lost important players for free, but it's happened to literally some of the biggest clubs.
  16. It's possible to support those in blue and white playing for your club without it being an endorsement of the owners, they're not mutually exclusive
  17. Or you deliberately string it along, saving yourself a few grand. As you say, it was ages for his signing to complete - but his contract expired at the end of June. I wouldn't be surprised if the board deliberately took as long as they did to save Β£20k or whatever he would have received in those weeks
  18. Or if you compare it to the highest men's player getting Β£20k a week (according to Dugdale) when many of the women's team got Β£9k a year, it's easy to see why you'd think the men's squad might have a few quid to help with those legal costs.
  19. The tone of that statement i.e. lack of content makes me think he's been pushed out, possibly due to the national and international headlines from the Women's team situation? Maybe told Suhail and the Venkys it would be fine, but they've actually been embarrassed with the coverage and he's taken the blame for it.
  20. Rachel Dugdale was on 5 Live Breakfast - you can listen on BBC sounds and go back to about 6:28 - spoke well about the situation. Hopefully the criticism of the owners makes it back to them and isn't screened out by the board (which is what I personally think happens to a lot of the discontent). Perhaps the most telling line from what she said was along the basis of 'we fought all season to prevent relegation, yet the club has now self-relegated'.
  21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c5y88zdgzp8o Good on Dugdale for also speaking out. No contact to the players since the announcement was made, unsurprisingly. Calls on the owners test to also incorporate women's teams. Even better is her linkedin post. Lots of interesting detail about the club, highest earner etc. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/rachel-dugdale-338b90123_reflections-on-blackburn-rovers-reading-activity-7330864751251451906-5uC-?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAB6bztwBhX25L8-tIrXRBZDOYrqfmREtgTQ&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAacICQ-RIlgQqTgeCKnZir8HnML6UKaYyUEmEERn7q8ctAG48lc-ACSJ1Hgvaw_aem_egOuzZyycqtGeYElVVHUFA
  22. Weimann did enough to get another year, but the injury is a question mark against him. Wouldn't be unhappy to have him as a sub and grabbing some late goals, but will be more concerned if it is Batth who we don't tie down.
  23. The downgrading of the women's team, or even if it was abolished altogether, doesn't upset me per se. It's how it's been handled and what is symbolises. By all accounts, those involved in the team have been treated like crap and communication has been poor. Had the club, last summer, said we'd be unlikely to run the team in the new wsl2 due to the costs, everyone has fair notice. But they didn't, and it's against the rhetoric we've heard of 'owners never fail to write a cheque', or the logic that we've banked Β£30m+ across 12 months. It's like they're too proud/stubborn/afraid to say 'Rovers are skint, we're watching all the pennies, sorry to the Women's team but we can't afford to run the team's. As for the fans who don't give a toss about the women's team, they should be careful what it could mean down the line. That precious Cat A academy is only kept as such because those running the place are hoping it unearths another Wharton, or at least others to keep modest sums coming in. If it doesn't produce first team players for a couple of seasons, they'll downgrade that too. The club shop will go online only other than match days and those in Row A will get high vis jackets so they can double up as stewards. In the meantime, the board continues to do everything they can to reduce the owners' annual investment, and they probably get rewarded for it. Rant over.
  24. Ah in that case let's take the men's team to semi-pro too. The other common response seems to be "did you ever watch the women's team", in which case let's reduce our youth teams and under 23s as well.
  25. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c9wgg8y881lo BBC article shedding more light on how poorly they've been treated. Meetings postponed yesterday and earlier today before they were finally told in the afternoon.
