  1. Blimey, there's some dewy-eyed romantic view of the Tomasson era on here when the reality is he's left the club in the middle of a relegation fight after a calamitous sequence of results. Ambition and optimism and a good personality are fine qualities but a coach also has to know to organise a defence properly and set up a team not to give away soft goals. Tomasson was a busted flush IMO, canny Championship managers had him and Rovers worked out in the second half of last season
  2. That's changed from years ago when I spent time with a (then) fourth division club. Players were in every day, even after midweek games.
  3. Source? First I've heard of professional players having a midweek day off.
  4. I asked this question yesterday. Why was no phone call made to the league to make sure they had everything? It’s belt and braces and vey basic
  5. Luton is a “destination club” now. The world has gone mad
  6. We’re not the first club to suffer as a result of the infamous “fit and proper test” and we won’t be the last. The pretence that the authorities actually do any due diligence on these unsuitable owners is laughable. All they appear to be concerned with is if prospective buyers of clubs have the money. If that box is ticked then the sale of clubs are in the vast majority of cases are waved through. You have to ask how many club sales been rejected over the years and the answer is very, very few, and certainly not because the buyers are “fit and proper”. The whole system is a joke and clubs like Rovers are destroyed because of it.
  7. The past is the past. In the present Tomasson is taking us down . What was working is no longer working. And he doesn’t show any sign of turning it round. On results alone he has to go
  8. The local McDonalds will be delighted
  9. When his football worked it was lovely to watch, some of the best I've seen Rovers play, But dear oh dear, he hadn't a clue how to set us up to do the hard yards, the backs to the wall stuff that you need when things aren't going well.
  10. ..... To start with, Eustace was quite negative with his play as Birmingham relied on long-ball football and set pieces a little. As time progressed, though, there was more of a possession focus" Sounds like a pragmatist compared to Tomasson's idealistic approach His first job would be to sort out the Rovers defence and stop us conceding soft goals from set pieces
  11. Don't get this, sorry. As it stands, Tomasson is taking us down to League One and shows no sign of knowing how to stop the slide. He's had a rough deal at Ewood but he has to go. We'll soon find out if his successor is worse but if Eustace or whoever saves us from relegation he isn't a downgrade
  12. Dearie me, a young loanee who's only been here a short time dragged out to plea for unity. Is that the best Maggott could do?
  13. Maggott is very crafty. Rule No 1 for bosses under fire: surround yourself with friends and people you know Eustace fits the bill perfectly Not saying he wouldn't be a bad appointment, but it's all very convenient
  14. Maggott & Mowbray|: Coventry connection Maggott & Eustace: Coventry connection The old boys' network alive and well in football If Maggott could get Mark Robins instead I guess he might even earn a few Brownie points on here Have to say I don't know much about Eustace except he was well regarded at Brum and clearly didn't deserve to be sacked Roll the dice. Here we go again
  15. Mark Hughes is a strange one, a brilliant manager for Rovers yet failed just about everywhere else, most recently at Bradford. Odd
  16. Possibly but he’s the absent elephant in the room. I don’t see how they could have a discussion of that nature without the manager’s name coming up
  17. I assume the part in black type was about Tomasson and his impending departure. You can understand why it should not be revealed on here
  18. No surprise that the players want to see more fans in the ground. But it’s in their hands to start winning matches and give fans something to cheer about I’m fed up with the excuses for Tomasson and claims that he doesn’t deserve this. He’s a failing manager who is leading the club towards relegation. His resignation offer should be accepted forthwith
  19. Oliver Kay is a former Times football writer. Big name, good contacts. You'd hope he might provide some insight
  20. The conclusion has to be that Venky's don't want promotion. Our 2 big chances to go up in recent seasons, under Mowbray and Tomasson, and the funding was never there to give us that final push into the playoffs. I think it suits them for Rovers to be out of the top flight, where the glare of publicity and worldwide attention that the Premier League receives would cast a spotlight on the owners and their "activities". I still maintain Rovers as a club have for the past decade been used as a money laundering (tax dodging) vehicle by Venkys
  21. That would be ironic and it's a delicious thought, I'd love him back. I think he's enjoying counting his millions at Casa St James's though
  22. I know, he's just joined Aberdeen...... that's why I said it was a matter of days
  23. It's more of a fire fighting exercise than a fresh start. We're in a relegation battle here. If we somehow survive the summer will be the time for a complete revamp. Without any money of course
  24. And for the about the third occasion the timing is wrong to get Neil Warnock in and sort out the mess, this time by a matter of days.
