Seems to be off the boil since his sending off and needs a goal.
He might benefit from some more creativity coming into the side when Cantwell gets fit enough as its not like he is missing loads of great chances.
He is mainly just feeding off scraps the same as Ohashi. I really wish we had some pacy wingers who could put crosses in, seems to work for all the teams we play against.

Did anyone manage to get a cheap riverside ticket in the end? There was meant to be a lottery or something but never heard anything of it again.

Hopefully a blip rather than the start of a streak. Turned off at 2-0 but had been poor all over the pitch, couldn’t pass, stood off our men, lost every 50/50 etc.
Not targeting any one player they were all shit from what I saw that half. Start again and try and get a point away on Saturday.
Starting Gueye is a must in away games hopefully that lesson is learnt by Eustace. You need something for the opposition defence to worry about and an outlet.
-
Could sub all 11 tbh. Failed to string more than 2 passes together all game and zero composure on the ball. Was a frantic half which at least made it entertaining.
Id swap out the attacking players and let the subs have a go none of them earnt a 2nd half.

Not starting Gueye in away matches is a big mistake. Just coming straight back again and again with no presence up there

I would actually welcome a digital season ticket, forever panicking that I have forgotten it (and have previously) on the way to the ground, whilst its guaranteed I would have my phone with me.

Sounds like the players liked Steve Kean as much as us fans did.

Just to be clear as I think my original post might have come across like I was writing the guy off when it wasnt intended.
The point I badly made was that I thought he was coming as a flying winger who ran the touchlines but he seems to be another 'no 10/inside forward' that we seem to collect these days.
He looks decent enough but we already have loads of players that want to come inside from wide positions (Cantwell, Dolan, Hedges, Sigurdson, Weiman, Yuki).
My 'potential' disappointment is more around the fact we haven't recruited a flying winger than the lad himself.
-
Certainly not writing him off or saying he isn’t a talent but would have expected to see him take on his man at least once by now if that’s his game as was reported. Just seems to be more of a wide forward than a winger so far in my opinion which we already have in spades.
-
Thought yesterday was his best game in a rovers shirt for a good while after a poor one at PNE last week. The ball stuck to him and he worked his socks off, my MotM.
Pity his run and shot didn’t go in the first half would have been a goal of the season contender but the keeper read it well.
Defo worth a contract but whether he deserves to be on a par with our highest paid players is prob why he isn’t signing yet.

I was hoping this guy was going to be a proper pacey dribbling winger but from what I’ve seen so far seems to be another Moran who just likes to drift inside with the ball and not take on his man.
Hope he proves me wrong but isn’t what I was expecting so far.

Loving the resurgence under Eustace, winning at home is the most important metric and he is delivering. Long may it continue!

The minutes mention a discount in the club shop for ST holders. As a ST holder this has passed me by somehow - does anyone know what discount we get and how to access it?
I emailed the club and the code was sent in the welcome email when you renewed your season ticket. I had lost mine so they re-sent it today after I got in touch.

I’ve just had a look on the online store and, even though I’m logged into my account and I am a ST holder, I can’t see an option to apply a discount - do you know where I can find it, or is there a code to enter or something?
(I was thinking of treating myself to one of the retro training tops)I can’t see it either, does anyone know how to access this?

Another crappy kick off time, seems to be the norm this season. Hoping our home form continues and we smash these 3-0 like Bristol.
There main danger last season was the striker they sold to Bristol who came on last week and looked a handful again. They also haveI Ilias Chair who is good on the ball. Other than that dont know much about them.
I would like Gueye back up front to start and Baker/Dolan/Hedges replaced based on the last game for Cantwell/Duberry/Weimann.

On 24/09/2024 at 09:06, Hasta said:We were a shambles on the pitch for the second half of last season and a shambles in the Indian courtrooms. The talk all summer was of selling Szmodics and having no money to spend. We hadn't won a home game under the new manager. Of course that wasn't a platform for increasing sales organically.
Yasir acknowledges a lack of signings was an issue with supporters. Add to that last summers 'cheap' signings were generally shit.
So when we did suddenly get our act together and start bringing players in, by then the season tickets were no longer 'cheaper'. They had gone up by £82 in my area. The club were told by numerous people that the pricing should have been held all summer because people aren't going engage with that increase.
If they'd have been on sale at the original "early bird" price after the Derby game I guarantee they would have sold 20% more tickets than they did after that game at the "Fat Cat" price which they ended up at.
You see this in business all the time. Stupid people making bad decisions but cleverly spinning a narrative upwards to try and justify themselves. Normally they are the only ones who gets to communicate with a higher level.
I can feel my blood boil when I read that sob story about season tickets sales. How thick can they be to be suprised that season tickets were so low when we...
- Sold our best player for £20m and spent nothing in January.
- Failed to properly register our only money signing in January.
- Loaned out our club captain likely as much to do with money than sense.
- Won 6 games at home all season.
- Managed just 1 home win since October.
- Had a new manager that still had not managed to win a home game.
- Almost got relegated.
- Planned to sell our next best player in summer.
- Under a financial cloud due to the indian court case meaning we might not be able to sign any players or even worse sell large parts of the squad.
- Sacked the entire recruitment and scouting department at the end of the season.
- At the time of putting tickets on sale had made no signings.
- Put the ticket price up mid-summer when we still hadnt made any signings.
- Put out complete radio silence for most of summer so nobody had the first clue what was going on during the early bird price window.
They must be absolute complete and utter morons to think it would be anything other than a total washout.
If the chuckle brothers or an alien landed from mars did all the above even they wouldnt be suprised that people didnt fancy it.

He looks well rusty at the moment, guess it could be a while before we see him starting unless injuries hit.

Enjoyed the day out, my first away game in a while. The performance was pretty flat, not sure if that was down to us or just good organisation by PNE. Even with 10 men they managed to find spaces which is frustrating when we had a spare man.
Thought Travis rose to the occasion more than the rest, he looks really good this season and glad he’s back.
It’s only one poor game but Hedges and Dolan need to make way for the upgrades in Cantwell and Duberry/Weiman next Saturday. also Baker looks totally lost and did at ewood last week out wide hopefully that experiment is over.
-
JDT talked a good game and charmed the pants off most people. I found it one of the most boring periods of watching rovers at home in 30 odd years. Lots of backwards, sideways passing along with the most abysmal defensive organisation I have ever seen at Ewood. Never mind his approach to local derbys or the ability to change a game.
Its still early in the season but it appears that Eustace has brought the good times back, you can feel it on the ground and hear it in the stands. We don't look a soft touch anymore and showing lots of 'Arte et Labore' in games. There is plenty of time for the wheels to come off but at the moment I am glad I renewed my season ticket as was very close to not doing so.

Fantastic performance feels so much better at Ewood this season vs the dross served up last season by both managers.
We already have 3 of our 6 home wins from last season and get the feeling that will be well smashed this time around.
Ohashi and Beck class today and everyone else on 8/9 ratings for me. Keep it going!

Feeling positive about this one, good start to the season and options in most areas of the pitch. Rovers 3 - 1 Bristol

Shame we went out the Carabao as would have been a safer place to blood him in. Guess we stick with Pears till he cocks up or gets injured.

Still early days for Eustace but looks a lot more promising this season than it did last. There seems to be more pissing about at the back creeping in which I'm not a fan off but its not an obsession like it was with JDT.

Makhtar Gueye

Gallagher had the same problem that Gueye and Ohashi are now having. You can't score loads of goals when the ball is pinged into orbit and you are stood on the halfway line. You can't score loads of goals when you find yourself isolated out wide on the touchline with 3 defenders in front of you (although Ohashi did manage this against Bristol!).
We are just turgid in our ability to create chances and support our strikers, for me it all comes down to pace/power/dribbling in the wide areas. All our attacking players want to come inside with the ball and nobody stays outside putting balls into the box.
