Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
roverblue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It makes sense if Ismael has finally lost it with the clowns above him. He definitely should have been sacked based on results but it was clear they didn't plan to. I could easily see him steaming into Rudy and Pasha for the abysmal signings over summer and now in January, I was amazed he hadn't lost his head over the Hyam sale to be honest. Any other manager would have walked after they did that. -
Look at the complete chumps in charge, Pasha and Gestede. Pasha will know next to nobody in football and Gestede probably a few ex managers he played for or some obscure foreign French speaking lads. The pool of contacts they will be searching in for the next manager will be very small. So if they go down the general job advertisement route lets add to the fact that the club is in total disarray on and off the field, players sold from under managers, no re-investment and a squad of total losers then anyone decent is going to say 'no thanks' if they even pick up the phone. I never thought I would say it but I miss Waggot. How have we got to the point where the people in charge are so under qualified and completely out of their depth?!?

Let’s hope Gestede is being thrown under the bus by Pasha to our overlords. -

Shocking transfer window, completely failed to bring in players capable of saving us from the drop. Our only hope now is a new manager bounce the likes we haven't seen before. -

I can honestly see us losing this one. If we go down early to a Sheff Wed set piece or similar I just don't see us being able to score a goal to get back in it. I am sure we will dominate the ball and territory but we seem completely unable to put the ball in the net or create gold plated chances for players to do so. Grim. As a plus if we do lose maybe they will finally sack Ismael as it would become untenable to keep him. -
The January 2026 Transfer Window
roverblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
These last two transfer windows have been abysmal. Other than Abeiosu and to some extent Gudjohnsen all of the signings look to be league 1 standard or worse. If we had kept the steady championship players over the summer and introduced the signings as squad fillers then fair enough some might have pushed on more than they have. Instead we have replaced an experienced side with a load of players that aren't ready for it and some never will be. January was the chance to save the season and we have again brought in players that have no record of playing in this league or at the level we require. I wouldn't even bet on this shower beating Sheff Wed tomorrow night its that bad. -

Mowbray would do a better job than Ismael for the rest of the season. If that’s what they plan to do I can get behind it as we can’t carry on like this. -

Played ok and the crowd were behind the team, but once the goal went in it all went to shit. Taking forshaw off was the turning point for me we lost control in midfield due to Baradji going walkies leaving gaps behind. For all the possession we failed to carve out any real chances. We just seem clueless in the art of scoring goals. Ismael has to go but he won’t, should have been sacked months ago. -

Let's hope Ismael does us all a favour and walks like JDT/Eustace did. Every cloud and all that... -

We definitely need a battering ram/ beast forward to give us another option. I’d rather that than another powder puff technical player that isn’t up to the meat pie nature of the championship. -

I think the biggest difference maker we can make as fans is to not buy a season ticket for next year. Simple to do, hits them right in the pocket and will panic the club when they realise they will be playing in an empty stadium. -

I've taken up the offer of a trip to watch Chorley instead, so at least I get my football fix with friends. Apparently we can have a pint in the stands as well! -

Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
roverblue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I said it last night but I dont think he is under any pressure whatsoever from Pasha/Rudy. He is carrying out their plan to the letter, which is to try and develop academy lads and foreign gambles into profitable assets. The league position and performances I honestly think have no bearing on his job security currently. Maybe if we start losing 3-0 week in week out it will become untenable but feels like at the moment he has been given a free pass with the injuries by those above. He even said last week that this month was basically a write off based on squad availability. They can carry out their plan in front of an empty stadium as far as I am concerned as us fans dont matter in the slightest. -

I’ve never known a manager have so many excuses. If it’s not working try something new you moron instead rolling out the same shite each game and sitting there with your arms folded. It’s called being a football manager. -

Aside from having a shit manager there seems to be no leadership in the squad anymore. I can see them all sat in the dressing room now not giving a shit. It’s like everyone is just going through the motions from the top to the bottom of the club whilst we descend into league one. -

You get the feeling he isn’t even under the slightest bit of pressure from those in charge. They don’t care if we go down. -

I am at a point where with Ismael I don't think even a tonne of better players would make the difference anymore. He is out of his depth tactically and has no ability to motivate the players. His media skills and excuse culture are the worst since Kean. If we loan some young wonder kids they will drop off a cliff after losing a few in a row. We need a new manager and a raft of experienced championship pros ASAP to keep us up. -

These were one of the worst teams to come to Ewood this season yet somehow came away with the 3 points. We concede so many soft goals! Given the state of the squad and form a point would be amazing. -

Expected it and so far they are more than delivering on my expectations. A new manager might have a chance to keep us up with a bounce but Ismael is only taking us down. -

Listening to his interview he has basically just written off this month due to injuries and doesn’t seem assed about results or performances till players come back. -
