For a team that sets up so defensively we concede some really shit goals. -

I would bet Tronstad leaves 'to go home' and then turns up at another championship club. Money talks

The January 2026 Transfer Window

If people want to share or start rumours then I am absolutely fine with it. It feels hopeless being a rovers fan and at least the thought of turning up to see someone new brings some of the hope back. -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
roverblue replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I've never understood the argument but nobody better will come in so let's just stick with whoever is in charge. Ismael has 1 win in 10, won something like 4 home games in almost 12 months, got us 4pts clear of the relegation zone and we are the 3rd lowest scorers in the league. Whoever the next person is they can't do much worse. -

We need someone in the Gueye mould in terms of his physical presence (albeit he was useless with it). The big Charlton striker the other week won literally everything hit up to him and would walk into our team. -

I am sure I read a report saying Rudy was sat at a recent game with their director of football/owner. So if he didn't know the price it just shows he is even more amateur than I thought. -
Should have been loaned out and he could be back playing for us now. The club is run by total amateurs who shouldn't be a charge of a car wash.

v Hull City (a) - FA Cup R3 - 11/01/26

If it was me I would sign 3 game changing forwards... A striker who can hold up the ball and generally be a nuisance to defences. We give the opposition nothing to think about in general play at the moment with our powder puff attackers. A striker with pace who has a record of scoring goals in the UK. A forward/attacker/winger who can drag us to 3 points with power/pace/individual dribbling skill (ideally all 3!). If we had any money left over would go for another of no 2! -

I think the only way we see the back of the 5 man defensive and the team's appalling goal scoring record is if Ismael goes. -

They will sell Abeiosu in a heart beat if it means that the Venkys don't have to send any money over for a few extra months. They will already have a fee in mind that is below his market value but hits a sweet spot for the financial year coverage needed. Rovers having a s strong hand is laughable, we are basically in administration without it being official.- 5390 replies

The January 2026 Transfer Window
roverblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
'Cobbled together' is the perfect term for the rovers squad. I have never had less confidence in the strategic direction the clubs recruitment has taken since this past summer. The only thing I believe drives it is cash, nothing at all to do with the playing side of things. -

I think it's more that we replaced Hyam with hundreds of games of championship experience with nobody for a half season and now this lad who has no real record other than that he moved for big money a year ago. Could be a great signing but feels another gamble plus he isn't ours to keep. I think we made £3m on the Hyam sale but guess that money has disappeared like it always does. -
The January 2026 Transfer Window

Genuinely don’t know if this guys a guaranteed starter or a squad filler? Let’s hope he turns out to be decent as the young lads playing currently look to have bright futures so be a shame to shut them out for a shitty loan player. As others have said other areas of the pitch are much more pressing first. -

Baradji looks like what we have been crying out for in midfield, someone who doesn't get a nose bleed when he crosses the halfway line. It's all about how Ismael sets them up though, a more ambitious manager would get more players forward both in a formation and in phases of attacking play. When we break recently we basically have Yuki on this own trying to dribble around 3-4 opposition defenders. Using the youth lads isn't ideal but I would rather have attack minded players on the pitch than a team of defenders. I hadn't heard of any of the academy lads that now make up most our back line but they all seem to be doing ok. Why not try it with the attackers? Especially when 0-2 down at home, instead he just sits there hoping for the best. -

His tactics mean we don't score enough goals. This is the main reason we don't win more games and have more points. A team of defenders and defensive minded midfield players leave our 1-2 attacking players isolated and without any real service. After going 2 nil down at home to Charlton and Wrexham he doesn't have the nous to change tactics and throw on another striker/winger/attacker (*admittedly these would be academy lads given the squad issues we have but beats playing people out of position like Henrikson). His view is that he needs better players rather than he needs to be a better manager. -

I don't think there is a plan to be honest. We recruited for a back 4 in summer then after poor results stumbled into a back 5. We have hobbled on for 10-15 game without the squad for it and will now likely recruit for a back 5. However results with this have been crap so imagine it gets ditched at some point and we then need to recruit for a back 4 again in summer. The whole setup is clueless.- 5390 replies

roverblue replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Also caught the end of his interview on radio lancs, hedges out at least 8 but up to 16 weeks needs surgery for broken leg. Also said we must use the loan market after ruling it out in summer. -
v Charlton Athletic (h) - 4/1/26
roverblue replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Said it before the game but why do we keep playing 5 at the back at home? We continually concede soft goals and it’s so defensive we have no attacking threat. Charlton were cruising until the 2nd goal and they inexplicably gave up to defend from that point. Stupid decision and let us sneak back into the game. Generally though it was poor other than Baradji and Atcheson who stood out as the best players. For me Ismael has to go he can’t set the team up properly at home and has no flexibility or tactical nous to change it during a game. The squad is poor but he is an equally poor manager. -

So Ohashi and Cantwell the only attack minded people on the pitch. Can’t wait to freeze my nuts off watching this 👍🏻 -

Window going as expected so far, a few rumours, lowball offers and rejections. Nothing likely to happen till the last day of January and will all be squad filling losers as per usual.
