v Coventry City (h) - 21/01/25

Squad looking really thin now and can’t see anyone coming in before this one. Will go for a 1-1 and a turgid Tuesday night game where I wished I had stayed home. -
v Oxford United (a) - 18/1/25

Be a tough game, they were a big tough direct side in our game at Ewood earlier in the season. They did however look shaky at the back so would try to attack rather than do our usual soak up the pressure away from home approach and go for a more attacking team. Oxford 0-1 Rovers -
Think you are being too quick to judge his ability to be a starter personally, he has shown more than enough to be starting over players like Hedges.

John Eustace - our head coach

Eustace is doing a fantastic job and I firmly believe anyone else in charge would likely be floating about the relegation spots based on our squad quality. In matches like last night you can see how poor the squad quality is in attack but the team spirit and organisation is getting us through matches. I think realistically we will fall away from the playoffs as its asking a lot to operate at 120% for a full season but enjoying the ride at the mo! If he was to leave for WBA we would be in massive trouble. -
Best away support iv seen at Ewood in a long time, literally sang their hearts out from first minute to last regardless of the goals going in.
-
ACD completely destroyed Luton when he started just before Xmas and got MoM? I don't think either are world beaters but iv seen enough of Hedges to know he is a sub at best. Gueye is a bit of mystery, looks unplayable at times then a total donkey at others, but at least is a striker unlike Weimenn.
-
I think the first half was just the wrong team, leaving Gueye and ACD on the bench over Hedges and Weimenn was just pandering to the squad instead of playing your best team. Luckily it paid off once they came on, but if the Portsmouth shot that hit the bar went in during that first half it could have been a very different outcome.
-
Called it. Although at half time would have never believed it was going to be 3-0 anymore. Big Mak and ACD changed the game let’s start with them next time.
-
Setting off shortly hope It’s not too foggy! Rovers 3-0 Pompey

January Transfer window

Have you got a source for this? I thought the last cash sent to the club was the court authorised payment in late 2023? -
January Transfer window
roverblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agree, since this court case the annual £20m has stopped and it seems that we are keeping hold of any money that we bring in to cover it. For how long this lasts who knows? It will run out eventually and force the issue but could be a bleak few more windows yet. The 'no impediment' is total nonsense they haven't sent a penny since it started. -

The club leaks we had of names over the summer seem to have stopped now Park has left. So either we have nothing close to a striker/winger signing or the club is doing a good job of not revealing any names. -

Christ, when you see it written out like that its a miracle we aren't in the bottom 3. -

I think Morton is terrible as I watched him every week with my own two eyes play for rovers and he was terrible. -

Whilst I will miss Bakers experience around the squad I have seen enough to know he is a bang average midfielder who can easily be replaced. The key question is will they replace him, answer is probably not. No surprise our form has gone to shit since Travis got injured, we desperately need a centre mid willing to get forward and support attacks like he does. Baker just spent all game stood next to Tronstad making 6 yard passes. -
A draw would have been fair but we should have showed more ambition in the first half. Baker and Tronstad needs to end they just stand next to each other all game and get a nosebleed if they pass the halfway line. Guess the plan was to take it to 0-0 then attack for last 20 mins but the one bit of class from Burnley got them a goal and allowed them to sit for the rest of the game. Been a crap Xmas period and a terrible points return. Hope it turns around quickly so we don’t end up in last seasons mess.

Was referring to previous January’s should have stated. No, thought summer window was ok given the budget we evidently had. Not sure who that was down to though. This time it’s all on Waggot’s protege/fall guy Rudy. -

Wouldn’t be surprised if Gestede is the next out the door after another failed window. We seem to like a revolving door in the scouting department. -
v Leeds Utd (a) - 1/1/2025

Going to be a tough game, be happy to park the bus and take a point today with a slim chance of a breakaway goal like last year. -
v Hull City (h) - 29/12/2024
roverblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That start was the worst half of football at Ewood this season IMO. Got better in the 2nd and we were knocking on the door until the sucker punch. Hull then picked up and could have bagged one or two more. Really disappointing but put in perspective with the squad quality, investment and ownership stuff we are punching well above my expectations this season. Just hope this isn’t the start of a slide been 3 poor results in a row. -

You can’t win them all and we had to lose at some point. Big response against Sunderland on Boxing Day hopefully -
Delusional. We were 5 points off relegation with 1 win in 11 when JDT left, shipping 2-3 goals every match.

Fancy another win given our form, but realistically 7 in a row in modern football is a really rare thing. So with my head I see a 0-0 but heart 0-1 Rovers. -

Preston spent a few million on players this summer and last, and that's without selling anyone to bring in finances. Its a sad day when clubs like Preston are investing more in their playing squad than Rovers (even more so after bringing in £40m+ in sales).
