  1. We have to win this to bring some positivity back and ideally convincingly. No idea how that is going to happen though the squad looks really poor in an attacking sense. As a start Dolan and Hedges need to be benched in favour of others or a different setup. I like the back 3 and wing back idea someone else had on here think that would work well with Britain and Beck giving us some width. Also whoever plays up front needs some support so would go with both Gueye and Ohashi to start.
  2. Lose to Stoke on Wednesday night and it’s time to open the relegation thread. We have hit the form we all expected pre-season with a total lack of creativity and goals. Anyone pointing at our league position needs to give their heads a wobble. Like under JdT last year it doesn’t reflect our performances at all and you can see where it’s heading.
  3. Did Gueye sprint with the ball down the wing and out of play or did my eyes deceive me?
  4. Dolan and Hedges continually play and put in 3/10 performances. Give someone else a chance on Wednesday night please.
  5. Lack of quality in attack is really showing now. I moaned all summer about wingers and we failed to sort it which is showing massively. We have no pace power or threat, basically creating nothing. What’s worse is the pissing about at the back has crept in again which doesn’t suit our players at all. It’s a shame as we have the makings of a solid team if we just had the aforementioned wingers instead of Dolan and Hedges we would be much more threatening. The goals have completely dried up and I think it’s inevitable we find ourselves battling at the bottom without some new players in January.
  6. We have been good at home this season and look very solid defensively. Going for a 1-0 win with Ohashi on the scoresheet. Fed up of these 1230 kick offs already!
  7. Wingers please, one for each side that have lots of pace and directness to get crosses in the box. Guessing it will be loans given Venkys still aren't putting any money in.
  8. He really needs a goal to get his season going, starting to look a poor signing. In his defence it’s not like he is missing loads of good chances but his general touch and technique looks on a par with Gallagher. If we aren’t going to be getting balls pumped in the box for him then he seems like the wrong fit for the way the team is setup.
  9. Watched a stream and thought we were good value for a point and maybe all 3. Needed to score in that spell early on but Hyam fluffed it. Would never give the handball or claim if it was against us either, ridiculous decision. Weimann should have buried his chance in the second half to give us the lead. Shame we didn’t get what we deserved, in my opinion we played a lot better than against Swansea last Saturday so maybe it evens out.
  10. If we can keep battling till January then hopefully we can loan in some better attacking players (as we certainly won’t pay for any). Eustace done a great job on a league one budget and got the lads motivated. The key area to address in summer was wingers and strikers. We have completely failed at the former and it’s hard to judge the strikers when we create nothing for them all game. Relying on hedges/dolan/sigurdson to attack a fullback or put some crosses in is a tried recipe for failure. The only hope is ACD if he get gets a start but not seen much so far to get my hopes up.
  11. I think given Cantwell’s lack of defensive ability means he will be moved central, his tracking back is non existent. At least Dolan puts a shift in with that regard along with Hedges so would rather they stayed out wide.
  12. Absolutely robbed the 3 points today but not often we get to say that. Could barely make 2 passes all game and just invited wave after wave of Swansea attacks. Nobody stood out bar maybe Beck first half and Cantwell second. Some poor ones from Gueye, Hedges and Dolan. Gueye was well off it and all seemed uninterested in pressing or putting a shift in.
  13. This break has seemed to go on forever. Be good to get a squad update from the club about who is in contention for Saturday fitness wise.
  14. I like Dolan and want him to stay but get the impression he sees himself as a top dog/wage earner whilst his ability doesn't reflect that. You would like to think rovers could be creative and give him a smaller basic wage but bonuses for goals/assists to address this but we are basically run by total muppets.
  15. hate losing before an international break just leaves you stewing on it for weeks 😞
  16. Gallagher had the same problem that Gueye and Ohashi are now having. You can't score loads of goals when the ball is pinged into orbit and you are stood on the halfway line. You can't score loads of goals when you find yourself isolated out wide on the touchline with 3 defenders in front of you (although Ohashi did manage this against Bristol!). We are just turgid in our ability to create chances and support our strikers, for me it all comes down to pace/power/dribbling in the wide areas. All our attacking players want to come inside with the ball and nobody stays outside putting balls into the box.
  17. Seems to be off the boil since his sending off and needs a goal. He might benefit from some more creativity coming into the side when Cantwell gets fit enough as its not like he is missing loads of great chances. He is mainly just feeding off scraps the same as Ohashi. I really wish we had some pacy wingers who could put crosses in, seems to work for all the teams we play against.
  18. Did anyone manage to get a cheap riverside ticket in the end? There was meant to be a lottery or something but never heard anything of it again.
  19. Hopefully a blip rather than the start of a streak. Turned off at 2-0 but had been poor all over the pitch, couldn’t pass, stood off our men, lost every 50/50 etc. Not targeting any one player they were all shit from what I saw that half. Start again and try and get a point away on Saturday. Starting Gueye is a must in away games hopefully that lesson is learnt by Eustace. You need something for the opposition defence to worry about and an outlet.
  20. Could sub all 11 tbh. Failed to string more than 2 passes together all game and zero composure on the ball. Was a frantic half which at least made it entertaining. Id swap out the attacking players and let the subs have a go none of them earnt a 2nd half.
  21. Not starting Gueye in away matches is a big mistake. Just coming straight back again and again with no presence up there
  22. I would actually welcome a digital season ticket, forever panicking that I have forgotten it (and have previously) on the way to the ground, whilst its guaranteed I would have my phone with me.
  23. Sounds like the players liked Steve Kean as much as us fans did.
  24. Just to be clear as I think my original post might have come across like I was writing the guy off when it wasnt intended. The point I badly made was that I thought he was coming as a flying winger who ran the touchlines but he seems to be another 'no 10/inside forward' that we seem to collect these days. He looks decent enough but we already have loads of players that want to come inside from wide positions (Cantwell, Dolan, Hedges, Sigurdson, Weiman, Yuki). My 'potential' disappointment is more around the fact we haven't recruited a flying winger than the lad himself.
  25. Certainly not writing him off or saying he isn’t a talent but would have expected to see him take on his man at least once by now if that’s his game as was reported. Just seems to be more of a wide forward than a winger so far in my opinion which we already have in spades.
