Some of Brittain's performances have been appalling. It's easy to say I was shit but it was the other guys fault. He was the only one controlling his body when he couldn't pass or defend properly.
Same with Gallagher, he was very good on Saturday winning headers, but in the game against QPR he assisted the opposition by barely getting off the ground.I'll be interested to see if they keep it up for Eustace, or whether they can't be arsed again when the going gets tough. They showed signs of it in the second half.
I think the players had (either consciously or not) downed tools for the QPR game. Lets hope we get more like the Stoke game going forward as you say

Crikey... sounds like the rumors of JDT losing the dressing room were right. Brittain's quotes very dismissive of Tomasson's style and approach.
Says it all without actually saying it. Play to the teams strengths rather than their weaknesses.
Glad the players thought the same as most fans as it was infuriating seeing them turn down crossing opportunities or not sending it down the channels when it was obviously the right thing to do.
I enjoyed that first half against Stoke more than anything else I had seen at Ewood this season, the myth that it was only an issue from December is just that.

He was around or top of the championship tackles/interceptions for the last two seasons running.
Exactly what we have missed this season due to the way the team was setup. I have no doubt Eustace would find a place for him now the suicide football is gone.

Effort, presence, experience , represents the club well, vocal on the pitch and in the dressing room. It’s probably the latter why JDT got shut as imagine he pointed the same things out most us fans have done for months.
Ability wise he is no Adam Wharton but for every one of them you need a Travis or Tronstad harassing and tackling.

Yeah starting to think he fancies letting it run down and see how much he can make as a freebie.
-
I’d take him back in a heartbeat and it was a ridiculous decision to let him leave on loan. Imagine he will be back in next season as captain.

Forgot what it feels like to win at home. It feels good!!!
Today showed exactly why JdT needed to go, they throw most of his ideas in the bin and we could have been 5-6 by half time.
They dug in the second half and made some fantastic clearances. Good to see Eustace take charge when it started to go stokes way as well making subs and urging them on.
”How shit must you be, we’re winning at home” 😂

Feeling more hopeful on the pitch now JDT has gone and hope there is a bit more pragmatism in our play. Early days though so might take a few weeks to see a change but some more directness in our play would be welcome. Also getting another defensive midfielder in is a quick change that will make us more solid.
if we go behind it could turn nasty on the Venkys/Waggot front as it was bubbling up last week before we pulled it back to 1-2. Hope they get pelters either way after the last few weeks.
please don’t play Moran 🙏

I didn't see it, but even if I had, right now I'd see the bigger picture.
We have lost a very good manager due to the club being in the gutter and I expect us to be relegated as a result, forgive me for not celebrating his departure.
Did you expect us to stay up if JDT stayed in charge?

Don't bother travelling to away games though!
Seriously, I'm a Big Sam fan but I cannot see Venkys ever employing him.
There was no point travelling to home games under JDT. Defo take Sam for the rest of the season if its doable he is exactly what's needed to get us out this mess.

But aren't you basing your opinion partly on Eustace getting a Summer backed Brum 6th place, two months earlier?
I think it's very difficult to judge whether Eustace would be a decent appointment personally. And if he did keep us up he'll have the same trials to go through that JDT has. And that's not knocking Eustace, they all will.No I wasn’t considering Eustace with regards to JdT performance. I was just responding generally to those that think JDT has just had a bad run and been unlucky. I think it’s more fundamental than that.
i agree with you on Eustace he is an unknown quantity and will be done over by the club in summer. To be honest at this point I just want to stay in the league so anyone who focuses more on defence than attack gets my vote. Probably go for Alex Neill if I had a say.

He literally said we were 8th at that point.
Everything he said is fact. For 1.25 seasons we’ve been better than any other championship season under Venkys (and in the cup too). For 0.25 since we’ve been poor. You’re judging the 0.25 very heavily by the looks of it.Did you even read the first paragraph? I’m talking about this season and pointed to facts as to why I am judging his tactics as not working this season not just from December.

Before December we were 8th 2 points outside the playoffs.
Last season we finished 7th.
Now his tactics haven't been working the last 3 months but for the majority of his time here they were.
Disagree, his tactics haven’t been working all season not just since December. We had lost 8 home games prior to Xmas day. We lost 5 of 6 league games starting from September. We have conceded the most goals in the league.
Most the league were likely a few points off the playoffs in December it’s the championship. The warning signs have been there all season if you take the blinkers off.

Surely its also Greggs job to find players to suit the style we play, not the managers job to keep reworking his tactics every transfer window. Ennis and Telalovic arent texhnically able to play the JDT way, and Sigurdsson couldn’t press his pants.
Agree but he knew he wasn’t getting them in the summer.
He’s trying to manage the situation now by saying “I offered but they said no” to deflect the crap job he’s done. It’s like saying I told you we would go down if you stuck with me.

I'm the same as many others. I feel gutted and almost a sense of grieving.
I cannot ignore results on the pitch and it was clear we need to tighten up at the back but who could achieve anything with this circus.
Everytime there is any hope, the next balls up hits and it's firmly with the hierarchy.
I have no doubt with the right backing and sticking with the project, JDT would have achieved. He's now going to conveniently take the headlines to cover up for the rest.
It's become a disgusting club with a rotting core. It breeds toxicity into the split fan base and whilst in a few days my emotions will soften and I'll go back to watching and willing to see the next episode I hate not having any control or ability to impact something I care about.
It's embarrassing, demoralising and I hope JDT has something lined up because he deserves better than what this club has become.
The rest of them should all fuck off as well.
The guy was taking us into league one, he knew the score last summer and should have walked. instead he’s persisted with his brand with a group of players not suited to it.
Plenty can and will achieve better with what we have got.
-
It’s hard to downgrade when you’re getting battered every week and falling down the table.
Whoever comes in gives us more of a chance than where we were heading with JdT.

If he is going I wonder who replaces him?
You would think given the shambolic nature of the last 6 months that Broughton has a list but we should never under estimate the clubs ability to be incompetent.
-
Unbelievable the players moaning about the atmosphere and a bit of booing.
I have paid £400 to watch us lose 9 times at home already to mainly crap sides that have done nothing more than put more effort in and exploited lazy defending.
That second goal against QPR was the players downing tools and us fans were rightly on our feet giving them shit for it.
I have been posting on here long before December about how boring it’s been as a home fan under JDT and glad he’s going. his best days seem to be away and I don’t attend them.
Hes a likeable guy and kudos for exposing the shit show behind the scenes but his approach to the championship is naive and with our squad stupid. In recent months he’s put his brand and reputation over getting results. I wouldn’t be surprised if the players haven’t also realised that and it’s part of the meeting today.
in summary the entire club should be ashamed of itself and there isn’t a single redeeming feature about the place. They can stick my season ticket up their ass next year.

As expected the owners refused to invest the Wharton money. Let’s hope it’s due to an impending sale of the club.

I thought he was best player yesterday.
Agreed him and Pears were the only two that deserved praise I thought. Gally put a shift in as well.

Or JRC on the right and Chrisene on the left?
What wrong with the system we play which is 4-2-3-1 formation? What would you change?
I’d reign in the gung ho approach generally. Things like stopping overcommitting full backs and midfielders forward so that when the opposition breaks we are either 1v1 or outnumbered. Happened loads yesterday and we were fortunate their striker was worse than Jason Robert’s at taking chances.
I’d also focus on getting the ball forward quicker, we take that long the opposition have regrouped and we create nothing of note as a result. It also causes us an issue in defence as we get penned in and make mistakes leading to opposition chances. Scott Wharton and Dom Hyam are there to defend not play like Tugay in his prime so get the ball off them and up the pitch.
From a formation point of view it probably looks like having fullbacks instead of wingbacks and at least two defensive mids. Then build from there after we get some clean sheets and maybe some 1-0 wins.
Do I get the job Chaddy?

I think a lot look like turds due to the system we play.
Go back to something more pragmatic and they start to look like championship players again.

I think I read on here that we were the only club in the bottom half of the league that hasn’t yet changed the manager this season. Not a trend I think we should be bucking.

I am pleased to announce that the 2020 Cheltenham Festival advertisement was finally taken down from the gents toilets this last few weeks.
Well done Steve, good to see you working hard to bring in that commercial revenue.
