Its a sad loss and my thoughts are with Annette and family. The club released a lovely tribute to Birdy. Personally I don't think the passing a Birdy should be part of the remembrance ceremony.
I rapturous applause and no doubt singing will happen on the 74th minute. What I do think would be a lasting a fitting memory would be for the club to Finally develop the much promised museum within Ewood and with the support of the family get some of the Birdy collection on display.
RIP fellow Rover

Some saw this coming, others went into denial whilst some inexplicably turned against protests. In the not to distant future we will all be able reflect on what we did in the name of our club, as we look over the wreckage of the venky era.
Personally I'm comfortable with my actions over this period. Some I fear will look back with regret.

The best manager we have had for a number of years. He is ambitious and wants to progress.
Sadly the board and I presume owners are more than happy to tread water and "survive" in the championship.

Cheston was there?
I bet his input was riveting

I was hoping to get the yellow third shirt, but not sure if there are more expected?

A great result for "John Dahls Babes", I feared the worst when I saw the line up. Just goes to show why JDT is a manager and were just fans...
I sense JDT is building something kind of special at Ewood, if we can keep hold of him.

The restrictions are in place now; they are literally stopping money from being invested right now.
Hearing scheduled for mid-Aug, where it should (hopefully) be resolved.
Edited to add: Venky's were not aware of these restrictions in advance and had no way to foresee them (for confirmation, not tax related).
The thing that doesn't add up for me is that JDT was speaking as if these restrictions would be long-term, so there may be even more to it.
The restrictions have been put back until October 1st. And Venkys have long known about it.

JDT hadn’t dropped last nights bombshell when that interview was recorded.
I spoke to Steve Waggott briefly before the game and highlighted the concerns that everyone had after last night as discussed on the other thread with @Mattybluelast night.
He reiterated what he said in the fans forum the other week - our budget has been cut due to government pressures on Venky’s, they need to cut costs and will need to sell players to fund signings. He knows we need players, so we need to trade but we will also be reliant on the academy players coming through. He’s hopeful Venky’s can “sort it out” but until they do that’s the reality. JDT is no different from any other manager in that he wants players and money for them, he’s had the situation explained to him. That’s where we are at.
No disrespect mate, but that sounds like an answer from $waggot himself.
Was he challenged? Venkys knew 100% that this change was bring brought in back in February, the budget was set knowing this... Also it doesn't come into play until October so now should be the time to invest.
Not knocking you mate as I know you are sound and want the same as us all.. $waggot is a snake oil salesman and doesn't look upto the job.

Sorry if I'm late to the party today. Was all geared up to wander down to Ewood today. Spent a bit of time on social media to build upto the game and stumbled across the radio Lancashire interview. How this can be described as the best it's been in 10 years left me stunned.
In fact it Totally put me off going. I appreciate the time you guys put into running the Trust, and what a thankless task it can seem at times. However there is building bridges and then there is becoming a PR outlet for the board.
If the Trust truly feel this is a good time for the club, then God help us. Even JDT is kept in the dark.

I have a lot of time a respect for the Rovers Trust Guys and Gals...
We are the Rovers? Not a good move for me. Rovers Trust made them sound professional and everyone knew what they are about.
We are the Rovers sounds like a Facebook group..
Good Luck, but not a great move imo

I enjoy it in the JW close to the pitch and decent atmosphere.

Totally agree, when the Blackburn end is filled and in voice it’s brilliant, both ends of the Blackburn end stand so I don’t see why no1 and no2 can’t be made dedicated singing sections, too many in bbe are more suited to jw or riverside, need to get those at the other end of the bbe in with the no1/no2 if possible.
yes agree again end blocks of the riverside (darwen end side) and jw need sectioning off, I also don’t understand why there is a small group of lads in that jw corner with a drum that could be getting bbe going ? It’s embarrassing too and it’s having no positive effect either, a singing/standing section with flags etc needs to be brought in and pushed across by fans
They don't want to sit in the BBE, they prefer the JW

I can't fathom how it would be anything but totally beneficial to go up.
We would be up against it to stay up, but it would be a huge boost to get promotion both on and off the pitch.
It could potentially increase our match going fan base, it would massively improve our finances and would give us an opportunity to sign some players that even if we did come back down, they would be huge improvements on what we currently have.
It would break this psychological feeling that we will never return to the Premier League, or even get close.
And of course, it wouldn't be impossible to stay up, there are some poor teams at the bottom of the Premier League. Big if, but manage the summer right and maybe we can have a right good go at staying in the league. If not, we should have a top Championship squad ready to bounce back. We go from Championship also rans to a team expecting to get back into the Premier League.
The idea of kicking on next season doesn't really tally up IMO. Our only goalscorer will be leaving for free and we will be scrounging around for freebies and loanees, this slow build idea doesn't really work.
Of course from a business and supporters point of view Promotion would be fantastic, and possibly ensure the short term future of the club.
I was talking about the development of a young squad. Getting hammered week in week out could seriously damage their confidence, whereas a top 6 finish this year and Promotion next year could see the squad better prepared...
That said I desperately hope we go up....

I think we will surprise a few and beat Coventry, and go on to secure a top six finish....
That said I don't give us a hope of going up, and probably be better if we don't. The lads need to secure top 6 and use the experience to kick on next season.
Its the hope that kills you

I would 100% offer him a long term deal. The lad is a baller and could be a big player for us going forward.

Maybe someone forgot to plug the fax machine in again?

Really enjoying JDT as head coach, like a breath of fresh air into the club. As much as I'm greatfull to TM for the job he did overall, it had gone stale.
I hope JDT is given time and backing.

My thoughts are prayers are with his family. A good, well intentioned man, who did his best at a job he probably shouldn't have been in.
Also responsible for many generous acts within the wider community..
Rest In Peace Shebby.

Very dubious penalty and never a straight red...
This team has grown a pair and have a real fight. Most would have taken a point before kick off...
It keeps a nice run of results going.

Hi all,
Two things, firstly thank you all so much for the good wishes, it genuinely gave me a huge lift when I heard about this thread.
A quick update, I'm now home with the family and recovering. Both me and my wife (as I feared both working in the NHS) got Covid, it was awful for a week and both very poorly. I suddenly took a turn for the worse and was rushed into Hospital with a Temp of 41.2 and was admitted into intensive care. Covid, Pneumonia and Sepsis basically kicked the life out of me for several days and it was very much touch and go if I survived or not. I spent 5 days in intensive care in a pressurised oxygen CPAP hood (looked like a minion) and faced multiple organ failure. The Hospital had discussed ventilating me with my wife but luckily I started to respond to treatment.
I spent a further 7 days on the Intensive care ward oxygen whilst my bloods where treated then 5 days on a general ward. I was discharged over 1.5 stone lighter (not a bad thing lol)
Covids parting shot was leaving me with Type 1 Respiratory System Failure, which I should fully recover from in 6-8 weeks.
Physically I feel quite well although very fatigued and get very breathless if walking about. My Oxygen levels are holding up well and my heart rate is lowering from dangerously high towards normal. Im improving day by day.
ALL The staff at Royal Blackburn are immense & true heroes, I can never thank them enough or put into words how amazing they all are. They saved my life literally. I'm one of the lucky ones and I hope and pray for every one else struck with the virus.... Please all stay safe- 42

Euro Garages are knocking it down because it spoilt the view from their family home. Essentially flushing millions of pounds down the toilet and taking a nice hotel from the area.
Surely it must be listed?
Bit saddened, I had my wedding celebrations there it was a fantastic place.- 1

So why not close the Riverside and Blackburn End? Put all home fans in the Jack Walker Stand (They would fit most games). Less stewarding costs etc?

The club is now a shell of it's former self. Like an addict, dependant on the dealer even grateful to the dealer despite knowing the dealer is slowly killing them.
We have Waggot and Co openly stating the target is now survival in the 2nd tier of English football, crowds dwindling, atmosphere sucked out of the stadium its so sad, but I fear things need to get a lot worse before we can even dream of it getting better.
We are now losing the next generation of Rovers fans as so many have just lost interest and walked away, the following the club because my Dad and Grandad do disappears too.
I speak to some older fans who say, ah we have been here before until Uncle Jack came along, but we still had our pride and belief on the club and those running it.
Our club is on life support and will almost certainly die as we know it, but there is life after the death just ask fans of Brighton, Bolton, Rangers etc...
