Moran was poor. Not sure what he actually offers other than passing backwards, out of play or to the opposition.
Yet to really nail down a position despite being in the team most weeks.
Didn’t someone say he had the highest pass completion % on the pitch?
Agree with most though that he didn’t stand out last night.

Read somewhere last years cup runs were worth £3m
So we’ve put a few extra million in the pot for Rovers that we wouldn’t have seen for years prior - should just be bonus money straight into transfer/wage kitty.

Does anyone know how much money we’ve generated from the cup runs over the last two seasons from both prize money and TV money?
QF and 4th Round last year and 5th Round (still to go) and 4th Round this year (it’ll be 4 premier league teams played with Newcastle)
That money alone should be given to JDT for Januarys budget given the guff Mowbray served us in the cup for years.

Szmodics as always stepping up and dragging the others with him.
Gallagher also playing very well in my opinion, and Dolan involved in a lotIt was a Garrett error and a bit sloppy from Pears on occasion otherwise we’ve pretty much controlled it.
A bit slow and weak to start but responded well to the goal (with thanks to their keeper)
Siggy and Moran quiet.

Enjoying the “great feet for a big man” clichés about Gallagher

Whatever about Pears and Leo - they have a comedy lad themselves in net

Pears kept us in it there
It was his fault in the first place, the first save was absolutely shocking palming into the centre of the 6 yard box.

That first save from Pears lol…..he is so so bad, yet still somehow our best option

Players treating it like a training match, so pedestrian.
Shocking stuff from Garrett- 5

Has swag given Wrexham part of JW upper too? Seeing a big area segregated off
I thought that looked strange too - is it the Jacks Kitchen section? Might have not opened that, which would be a stupid decision.
Waggott will be rubbing his hands together at what looks like a decent attendance and the chance of 7k Geordies next if we win

They’re averaging 29,000 attendances in the league and have wealthy owners.
They had an attendance of 27,200 against a National League South side on Saturday.
Decent priced tickets and an engaged fan base = high attendances.
Take note, Steve Waggott.
Their wage bill is probably pretty well controlled too, considering they were league 1 last year and looking at their squad. Certainly punching well above their weight this season, and will have a decent cushion for FFP to spend and take that promotion gamble this year for sure.

Another payday for Waggot if we win tomorrow. But it’ll be the end of our cup run (and season), if it isn’t tomorrow.

I think a problem we have is:
- We sell Adam Wharton it'll increase anyones sale price to us by a fair few %.
- We buy players pre sale or negotiate loan to buys our fees will be lower.
- The money won't be reinvested.
If (big If), Venky's actually wanted to sell us, I'd be amazed if they didn't cash in on £20m for Wharton first.
Having him as a Rover is unlikely to increase bids by the same amount.
Didn't Venky's buy us for about £25m then sell Jones for £16m within the year (maybe this just highlights what mugs the Walker Trust were)
-
A normal club, would probably think £20m + sell on % allows us to reinvest £15m into a Championship squad and still have some left over for the finance lads as well as the sell-on fall back. Not bad for an academy lad (thanks Jack)
We, obviously, will throw JDT a few pieces of shrapnel, and the rest will go into the usual Venky's black hole.
Our issue with reinvesting all that money is what it does to the wage bill, having said that, we seem to be cutting that constantly yet our losses don't improve so god knows.

This is a prime example of it:
“Ewood Express provides new opportunities and a safe, accessible service for young people across the borough to join us at Ewood Park and has been a great success since it started.”
So if you have different coloured bins because you happen to live on the other side of some arbitrary drawn border we aren’t interested in you.
Whilst I agree about the borough thing and the shocking input outside of BwD (I speak first hand from Chorley originally), I do think it’s a positive to have this scheme running….i believe it’s more Yasir Sufi than it is Waggot mind you.
Reading some of the comments on social media are depressing “why carnt we av buzzes running from are local church too?” Some of these lads just need to grow up, such a backwards bunch.Good work by those setting up - would be nice if they actively approached schools with the offer (not sure if they do?), I remember getting tickets through my school in Chorley early doors.

Well JRC might, Gallagher won't make any difference whatsoever.
I’d tend to agree, but since spending a few months watching Ennis and Telalovic, I can’t help but feel he makes a difference to this squad

Good to see JRC and Gally back, yes the latter gets some pelters but jesus the squad is in bits when you look at what we’ve had this last month.
Nobody can argue that the two of them make us stronger than what we’ve had in December -
Without sounding like a massive aftertimer (it will though)…I’ve never really bought into the Hyam hype that he gets from Rovers fans.
Weak as piss, not vocal, doesn’t seem like a leader (could be wrong), absolutely horrendous at dealing with anything slung into the box or if it gets scrappy in the box.Having said all that, we didn’t particularly look any better at the back when he was out, and it can’t be easy with whatever you want to call the person in the nets (he’s certainly not a goalkeeper) behind you.
Playing for safety now and I guess the hope of an FA Cup run if we continue to get lower league opponents.
-
A league 2 side at home to get to the L16 of the FA Cup. Win this (and let's be honest we'll be odds on favourites), then we're 1 game away from the FA Cup Quarter Finals and 2 games away from finally having a trip to the new Wembley (not that the semi-finals should be there).
Let's have them!

Agreed , it like people have forgotten he led us to our best finish in the table since relegation last season and for parts of this season sat in the top 10 and not far away from the playoffs at all.Even though we finished 7th in the championship last season his tactics will never work in this league apparently
Even weirder the most critical toward JDT are the ones who say our squad is shit and predicted relegation/relegation battle before the season started.
Even have posters now saying he can't complain about the lack of experience as he gave the ok for Travis moving out, disregarding Travis asked to leave and he isn't as good as A Wharton and Tronstad.
Agree, he deserves a proper chance but he’ll never get that under Venkys unfortunately, and it’s grim to see the lack of backing he’s had from the rest of the muppets in Ewood/India
Add to the above some proper cup runs and the closest we’ve got to Wembley since the morons turned up
That *was* the January Window

Do we get the Raya money this month? That's around £5m isn't it? Of which, 100% should go straight into the transfer pot, with the addition of any cup money. A well run club would have £6m-£7m to spend over these days before we even talk about any Wharton or Gallagher cash.
Over to you Venkys
