I dont think for one minute that if Rovers were to ask the LOW to speak to hughes that they would jump on the next bus, ride upto the highest mountain and sing amongst the sheep and wellies that they had just given BRFC permission to talk to their manager ! The same for any other club especially with the weekends matches nigh. There is always going to be people acknowledging their currnet position, there will always be denial and flattery, there will always be speculation and media talk. Its the way the sporting world and in particular FOOTBALL works. having just spent a week in Newcastle up for the England game I would suggest that anyone thinking of parking their cars near the ground think again. The much easier option is to park in Gateshead and hop into Newcastle on the metro cost is a quid return. You then have two options of either going straight to St james or Monument. Monument allows you to visit the best pubs on the way upto st James - its a ten minute stroll or a 20 minutes wobble ! Parking will be very limited as its saturday and that means women crowding the car parks whilst shopping and leaving their own cars badly parked etc !!!!! It will be very interesting to see what the exact crowd reaction will be like at the ground.

Noone has any ideas as to whether money was witheld from Souness if we are to believe he was facing the sack, if its true then no club would ever allow the full transfer fund to be spent by the current in-manager. The transfer window being shut is one thing but its only a few months to the new window and the new manager would be (if allowed) to target his own signings. This is one of the more important points for attracting high calbire individuals to the job. Anyone can apply for a new job whether or not they are in current employment. Does anyone on here tell their bosses they are applying for a new job ? Agrred in full that permission would then have to be obtained from that individuals employer in order to talk to them/ Jim - you have absolutely no idea if Rovers have invited any "particular" individual to apply for the job. In todays soft world of pc people and do gooders Rovers have to offer the job on an open for all basis. It is not beyond them that if they had identified an individual as the preferred option he may have been asked to provide an interest. Finally, its all very exciting after the initial shock. To have a potential list of upto 30 applicants from football people sounds like the Rovers job is well worth having. rikko nufc we all know what type of support nufc have and we realise that those fans are probably the best in England at getting behind the team, at the same time they are also the worst at criticising a team/manager. We all realise that although BRFC are seen as an unfashionable club in the eyes of many, including your own fans, but let me point out this to you. BRFC have had to provide NUFC with managers and players cause your massive club has tried to identify with our little club without any success whatsoever. Managers such as Lee,Smith,Dalglish players such as Shearer,Batty,Given,Sellars have all faied little better than they were at our little club. JHC you have even nicked our backroom staff and still had no success with icons such as Gennoe and Irvine. It says it all about your club that the fantastic support puts up with fat freddie, the man who belittled Sir Bob, the man who allows Shearer to run the club, the man who is more satisifed with whores than his football club. And what does the adoring geordie public do ? they put up with him. BRFC and its core of around 25k supporters have lived a dream, the older ones and the younger ones alike. We have been there and done it, NUFC are eons away from emulating any of that type of success. Nicking Souness on a massive contract in trying to instill some sort of discipline into your team is beyond belief. He will fail simply because of the Shearer factor and the tepid support amongst you fans. Its all sad really cause the geordie lads I know are very decent lads as are most of your supporters. TP has previously done a good job, I cannot see him lasting more than 3 weeks this time. Rovers HAVE to appoint a manager soon and one with a bit of experience.
