AllRoverAsia Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 R.I.P. Gordon. A truly great goalkeeper in an era when we had so many good ones.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Last time I saw him was at Keith Newton's funeral when he and Brian Labone represented Everton. He was carrying a bit of weight and obviously struggling with his knees. Top class goalkeeper in his day, not many players won two championship medals plus a cup winners medal in the sixties, But for Gordon Banks he would probably have had more caps. RIP Gordon.
jim mk2 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 One of the Everton greats from the "School of Science" Ball-Harvey-Kendall era, and a top-class goalkeeper. Always liked Everton even though they took Sir Keith and Fred from usand gave us George Sharples in return ...probably because Rovers always used to fare quite well against them in the 1960s.
