If Chapman doesn't even get any minutes then it will be more motivation for him to leave, especially if Bolasie comes in.
I'm 100% positive he'd rather be at Rovers. My guess he will be the deadline day signing for us and everyone will go into meltdown.
-
Don't understand why Chapman couldn't play attacking mid anyway, especially if he's wide of the 3.

So 1.75 million for a Armstrong says Mowbray... Good business that. Newcastle fans were thinking they'd got 3 million!

I think if you provide the outline of a deal in principle you can submit the formal paperwork after the deadline.
Not sure at all why we need another midfielder, if this guy came in we'd have ten players Trapp, Palmer, Rothwell Davenport, Smallwood, Evans, Bennett, Travis Conway and Tomlinson vyying for the midfield slots.
Too much quantity not enough quality.
Meanwhile at least one genuine wide man and another striker still urgently required.
And Whittingham...

Vydra is no way good enough for Premier League football.

Can't imagine this Trapp one is going to happen, sounds like a cheeky offer made that won't be accepted. Being over in the States, needs needs a medical and to sort out a contract all within the space of 2 days... Be cutting it close.

Have to completely disagree.
Hes no world beater but I still maintain that if we’d have had Smallwood in the centre of the park instead of Lowe, we wouldn’t have gone down.
We'd have got into playoffs that one season we missed out.

Seems a lot more likely we had to completely reassess having drawn a blank imo.
Otherwise the players we need, particularly Armstrong would have been here in time for the start of the season and we wouldn't have been scurrying about looking to do panic business in the last few days of the transfer window.
With respect, I think it shows how organised and ambitious Mowbray and his recruitment team have been, or tried to be at least. They've obviously had more ambitious targets higher up the list that they've been priced out of and made their way down the list to Armstrong. I think that shows a well thought out transfer strategy and ambition.

That takes spending to £2.5 million. Wonder how much there is left. I wouldn’t blow all my budget on Armstrong if I was TM.
You say that mate but I doubt around 2 million will get you much these days. You have to look at what we're getting for that price... A lad at 21, who's an England youth International, with buckets of pace, who's already scored goals for us. Dack is unproven in championship, if we had to sign him this simmer god knows what price he'd be.
-
Is Mcginn actually that good? I've never seen him play but I'm pretty sceptical of someone only performing for Hibs in SPL... Championship is a much better standard overall.

Isn't that photo an old one from when he signed on loan?

Nice to have Arma back, feel if that chance had fallen to him instead of Palmer at the weekend that he'd have buried it. Little man needs to step up and bang a few in for us.
If we get a good quality CF then we could be in for a decent season.

For a bit of balance Connings association at Rovers goes back way pre Venkys. I might be wrong but I think he was Sambas agent. That shows he can get decent players although Sambas departure shows the other side of it as it was a bit mysterious but fit right in with the times. Also his constant demands for stupid money was badly advised.
Bloody hell, didn't realise who he was till you said this. I met him in the woodlands when watching Rovers once, gave me a signed photo of samba, had a decent chat with him, seemed alright if a bit of dodgy wheeler dealer type.

Should've signed Edwards... Some player him.

I agree with your analysis of recruitment.
Don't think you can judge the quality of recruitment until they're properly up and running. No one was blown away with Dack. It would have been nice to have signed an obvious improvement on Graham for today though.

Just been watching Sunderland v Charlton.
Bauer looks like he could be a capable centre half at this level, good in the air, reminds be a bit of Duffy but not as lanky and annoying.
Stand out player was definitely Aribo (think that's how you spell it)... Too good for league 1.

haha John Wark - blast from the past.
Jason Dozzell could cause problems too. Actually, there is a Dozzell playing for this Ipwsich - guess he is related?
Probably yeah.

Speedie and Dickov weren't particularly big either but they had a presence. They could play up front on their own at times because they were physical players who put themselves about. If you marked them for 90 minutes you'd know you'd been in a game. Armstrong hasn't got that level of physicality and I don't think he ever will have. If it's your nature not to be that way out you can't really be taught it. He relies on stealth and good service. He doesn't wear the centre backs down. I played in every position on the pitch as a player at one time or other and without a doubt the hardest position to play is up front on your own with your back to goal.
Yeah played there too. Players like Aguero and Owen aren't particularly big or even physical but you have to play in a way to play to their strengths (OBVIOUSLY Arma isn't in same league). Through balls and balls over the top. With the sort of pace Armstrong has, defenders should absolutely haye it.

Not asking much I think everyone in the league is looking for a player like that
Armstrong will end up being more of a winger as his height doesn't help him being up top
Height shouldn't have anything to do with it. There are plenty of forwards that aren't particularly big. It's about style of play. Arma's finishing is pretty clinical, he should be given time through the middle.

Gary stonehouse of The S*n saying it’s a done deal £1.75m upfront £1.25 in add ons
I don't believe it personally but if it is going to get done and announced I recon it will be next week now, all focus will be on Ipswich.
P. S. The Sun are Scum. Do not read!

Can anyone name a younger version of Danny Graham type?
Pitman? He is 30 but still a good 3 years younger than Graham.
As far as an out and CF goes, the best we could do is Ulloa at Leicester on loan but perhaps that's a stretch.
-
Something doesn't sit right here, only yesterday or day before he was only an "option" but we had "other targets".
If its true the only thing I can conclude is if Rovers have said.. Here's what we're willing to pay, let us know but we have other targets so don't leave it too late... They've dangled on transfer market without anyone biting, panicked and taken the money.
Thursday deadline.
