  1. Hedges mainly as he can be a handful, and Gallagher can surprise the oppo with a goal so they have to keep an eye on him. Compared to Vale/Hirst he's world class.
  2. They do this every time no matter what position we're in. Personally I think we'll get beat, especially if Tomasson sets them up like last night, but we've still got the most wins in the league which gives you hope. Thin squad and players fitness can't seem to cope with two games in a week.
  3. It was the playing people out of position I didn't get, and Vale/Hirst over Dack. He's stuck with the squad he has for now and from his post-match comments sees it as a season to build a team and wants to give young players a chance, but considering our position you beat teams like Coventry as we'll have much tougher games ahead. I think he underestimated the opposition and overestimated his own players.
  4. We don't have any center forwards available. I was disappointed with JDT's tinkering last night but I put the blame on our lack of firepower on Mowbray, and Broughton who could have addressed it before the season started. If we'd have had a decent striker up front last night we'd have got something. Though as mentioned earlier why Tomasson didn't put Brereton in the middle and Dack behind him I don't know. When you're limited on options you have to try something even if it's sticking your big centre half upfront to head a goal in. There seemed no urgency last night from anyone.
  5. You were blinded by effort Jim. He put a lot in but every kick seemed to help Coventry more than us. At least he was trying unlike others. Vale was on holiday, Hirst did barely anything. There were times when players who I thought better of were strolling about as Coventry ran past them. Like you say it's a low bar. I'm surprised at Vale because at the weekend he showed some decent play and put a shift in to help us get the 3 points. If I didn't know better I'd call him a lazy b***ard. Hirst as always looks like he'd rather be anywhere than on a football pitch. The biggest villain was JDT with that bizarre team selection.
  6. He gave the ball away more than a couple of times. I'll give him some credit for working hard but nothing went right for him tonight.
  7. Markanday is supposed to be a winger anyway. Yet another player purchased by TM to score goals, who hasn't been coached to score goals. We concede, we lose because we're light on goals. We needed to sign a striker in Summer and as I've always said, Broughton needs to carry the brunt of the ire for Hirst being the main striker target. If we don't sign a good striker in January I think I may combust.
  8. Generally I have to cut JDT and his team some slack that we have literally only one centre forward worth picking, and he's not a player you want to pin your hopes on. We had literally no centre forwards playing tonight (I can't accept that Hirst and Vale are capable of the role) and that's what you get when for two years you haven't purchased a decent striker. Though I can't cut them some slack about the choices made tonight. If I was desperate for a goal I'd stick Brereton up front with Dack just behind feeding him.
  9. I'd be happy with that. If it wasn't for Vale and Hirst Szmodics would have been the worst player out there tonight. His contributions seemed to always help the opposition.
  10. Question mark over Szmodics, he was terrible tonight. He did put the effort in but he couldn't pass, close down, attack and kept losing the ball.
  11. Thanks to crappy RoversPlayer I missed the first 15 and that was supposed to be our only half decent spell from what I could see.
  12. Can we get Jim on a curfew every away game? I hope he's not going to the Dingle Dome.
  13. One of the worst performances I've seen from Rovers, not helped with the team selection. A carbon copy of the Wigan game where it was like half the time couldn't be arsed and the manager felt like a night off. Playing Vale or Hirst is effectively forfeiting the game but Szmodics was abysmal too.
  14. What a waste of a tenner. The people who travelled must be livid.
  15. Too slow, no urgency to the play and several players are sleepwalking through the game. Manager has forgotten he can make subs. Coventry haven't been tested at all.
  16. Get Szmodics off. Every time he gets it he passes to a Coventry player.
  17. Unfortunately he can't play both sides and cover for himself.
  18. A good striker and a couple of fullbacks I'd say.
