  1. The bloody rock breakers could've refused to take part in this "sub-standard" form of cricket. Great start, great win, more of the same please lads.
  2. Nail on the head again Mr Revidge.
  3. I wrote back to Messrs Hughes and Williams and informed them that if they signed Craig Bellamy I would buy a Season Ticket. We'll see.
  4. I think you're forgetting a certain G McGrath, old and injured but still a dangerous wicket-taker after he has slipped the umpire the odd fiver or two. What tiddles me off is the way in which the ECB has been so accommodating to the enemy, devising a schedule that gives them maximum practice and playing time before the Tests and allowing the infidels to acclimatise by playing county cricket, viz lardarse drug-baron Warne at Hampshire. I wouldn't let them in the country until two days the first Test at Lord's on July 21, and only then on the proviso that they promise to attend the serious offenders rehabilitation unit at Parkhurst for corrective training. 321910[/snapback] Its post like that one that make you my favourite.
  5. England 5-0. Hope the cons get a real good hammering.

Thats utter genius. How do you do it?
  7. Gutted I couldnt be there, can't wait for the DVD to come out. Sounds like a fantastic night!
  8. Pretty impressive - you were the only person to correctly predict the relegated teams, although not in the right order.
  9. To be fair to Glazer, he's been very successful with American football teams (I'm sure our American chums can fill us in here). However, as I understand it, he's achieved his success at the expense of the fans by hiking up ticket prices and basically selling the soul of the club / team. As Man U doesn't have a soul anyway though I'm not sure what he'll do at United. ...in 1997, he decided that his team's uniforms were too "girly" so he ditched the orange and red pirate, and adopted darker red, metallic "pewter", and black as the new colors, and changed the logo into a skull and pirate flag... most people agree that the new uniforms are much more professional... however, it may be a bad omen for man u fans, since glazer was so quick to discard tradition... Which might mean that, abandoning all tradition, he might build one of these over Old Trafford to match the one at the Buccaneers' stadium... And, yes, they really do fire cannon when the Bucs score... Or Utd could end up actually PLAYING in that Stadium. It's started already.......................
  10. No - but you might be inclined to strip all its assets to make a quick buck.
  11. Here here Jan. Those of us that regularly make an effort to get to games from far away are the ones that find the apathy from people within the town even more frustrating.
  12. Gilpins Bell wasnt it?
  13. You're living in a dream World if you think Glazer is trying to seize hold of Man United so he can help them win the Champions League! I'd be surprised if he's ever even heard of the Champions League.
  14. Nice one guys.
  15. After such a glorious night I was expecting to come on here to be confronted with post upon wonderfully optimistic post. Where are you all?
  16. Hang on a couple of years Gav, she'll show up in some far flung land when you least expect it.
  17. There is already a thread on Shearer. Perhaps as this "internet" thing evolves the modulators will find some way to "merge" threads in these situations. Probably a pipe dream though.
  18. Glad you're both so confident - we're a small club in the scheme of things and the rumours arent going away. Hopefully he'll go abroad if he does leave - swap deal with Juve for Del Piero?
  19. Next week on BF predicts, the amazing truth about the Millenium Bug..............
  20. For the record, Dalglish is going nowhere. If we win the Championship Walker will pile millions more in to make us one of the best teams in Europe, I think we will see Dalglish signing a new contract and Batistuta coming in for £10m from Fiorentina.
  21. I have to say, I fear we're going to bottle it again
  22. I cant name too many specifics, but comments about us being ungrateful, his refusal to acknowledge us, his comment about how winning the FA Cup with Newcastle would mean far more to him than the Prem with us did, there's been quite a few things, I've always got a negative vibe from him. Blackburn fans were ungrateful; the booing on his first return was ridiculous for such a great player, regardless of the circumstances of his departure. Marcus Bent got a standing ovation on his first return to Ewood yet Shearer got booed and 'Judas' shouted at him. I'm not a fan of booing players at the best of times, mainly because it just seems so childish. "Oh look! There's Shearer...let's all go booooooo a lot. That'll bloody teach the big fat knacker" Hardly revenge on a Shakepearean scale now is it? As for his comment about winning the FA Cup with Newcastle, well...winning the FA Cup with Rovers would mean more than winning the title with Newcastle would to most on here. It was (and I remember the quotes) more of a case of him saying how much of a Newcastle fan he was rather than putting us down. So...anyway...time to forget the petty squabbles and the delight he seemed to take in scoring against us and remember the good times. If only for one day. All fair comments. I have nothing against Shearer, I just get the impression he thinks little of us. Gutted I cant make this one, I'm out of the country until the following day

  24. Why do you say that? It strikes me that Shearer has a very low opinion of the Rovers, based on his previous quotes.
  25. Thats a really good idea. Perhaps people could do this on the "Holiday reads" thread and the movie threads that often pop up. If you're going to recommend something, link it!
