  1. Tony, thanks for everything you've ever done for the club. You've been there in times of need and you've seen us through the good times and the bad. I hope there will still always be a place in your heart for Rovers and we'd all love to see you down at Ewood on match days. Like Uncle Jack, you're a man that will never be forgotten. Thanks again Tony - A True BRFC Legend!!!! A bold move by Hughes and the board. A move that may well have been needed. Lets just hope it proves to be the right one.
  2. Lets just get on with choice for Right Wing. This one is done and dusted. England by a country mile. My vote goes to Rippers for RW because i haven't seen any of the other supposedly good RW's play
  3. Can't find the post now but Matteo is a joke!! He isnt fit to wear the shirt. It was his fault for the 2nd goal. There was no need to or him to put it out of play, he COULD HAVE (like you could have paid more attention in school) played it t neill or back to brad but no he played it into touch like a ######. that resulted in the throw then the corner and the 2nd corner that they scored from Joke i cant justify it now cs im ###### and off out. seeya LATER
  4. ######!!!! Don't mean to sound rude but thats rubbish. I think that Rooney may be a more naturally skillful player but Shearer is one of the most natural goalscoresrs this country has ever seen. Lineker, Shearer and Fowler spring to mind as natural goalscorers in their prime. Rooney's not anywhere near their class yet. Like someone else posted - wait til he's banging in 30+ goals a season, season after season! Bryan - please don't take the 1st part the wrong way
  5. The poll isn't up yet. Watch this space for Mike England profile. And that's why i haven't voted yet !! D'oh
  6. Got to be Hendry for me at the moment! Can't remember much of Keeley to be honest, who would have to be seriously considered, so this is the main reason i'm plumping for Oooooh Colin Hendry!! MIke England sounds ok though. I'd like to hear a bit more about him from people who saw him play regularly. I haven't voted yet. I will hold back until i've read more reports on England.
  7. I think he's lost/starting to lose it now. Last season i defended him to the hilt and for all the effort he puts in, it just isn't good enough anymore i'm afraid. Saying that, he made more of a nuisance of himself and was more of a danger to Charlton than Bazza was on Monday, but Bazza simply had an off day and it won't happen too often with any luck. We need something else in the middle of the park and I think Thomo is the perfect solution but he's such a sicknote, we might aswell have Darren Anderton on the books. So that aside, I just don't see any of the current squad who will be consistently good enough to play along Ferguson to create a reliable partnership. Let's hope Ciaran Donnelly becomes the player we all think and want him to be. Donnelly is someone else who i've said will have a great future but if he doesn't start to get chances and make his mark by the end of this season, we may aswell get rid of him as he obviously isn't in Hughes' plans.
  8. Very good Bryan, but unfortunately wasted on some methinks
  9. Think my eyes are deceiving me Anyone got the number for Vision Express? I obviously need a check up
  10. "Got my own ideas of players I want to bring in" Obviously thinks theres a load of rubbish, not fit to wear the shirt. ....not that we didnt know that anyway "... get an idea of the backroom team in the next couple of days..." this is of utmost importance. Soness' major downfall was his back room staff and their amateur training regimes. Dean Saunders as head coach ffs. WTF could he have told Cole and Yorke about being being a striker. They were both a different class to him in their hey days
  11. LIAR True! Suppose i'll keep hitting refresh every 2nd heart beat instead
  12. shame about Keeley getting injured Right, enough of the jokes and back down to the serious business of listening to ......who the hell is Eddie Carvery?? ........ F*** it. I'm gonna do some work!
  13. ...agreed Key This has got to be the most stupid quiz ever. Could be mildly amusing if we weren't waiting for the most important news so far this year.... ....HURRY UP!!!!
  14. .... at the bottom of the ocean. Bloody miles away
  15. Who cares about spread betting??? Get on with the conference
  16. Please please please not Hoddle!!! My immediate hope for new boss was Hughes or Strachane in that order. I then considered Allardyce. I think there would be some interest from him. He knows he's got more ability and talent to work with at Rovers and he wouldnt have to move home (possibly why he ruled out moves elsewhere). As has already been said, he tries his best to get his teams to play attractive football and he does go after a lot of big names. Only problem is they're even older than the one's Souey was after. I couldnt cope with being the laughing stock a la notlob and spuds Curbishley would be an excellent move but very much doubt he'd leave London especially when he know's theres bigger fish out there for him in the near future. My choice - Hughes, with an old favourite as no. 2. Hendry or Newell!!
  17. Tris, I agree. Sorry Ste, I don't mean 'i agree' in the sense that that is all i'm going to say on the subject, but Tris is right in most parts. I dont think its fair to say that there must be posters out there who are more than 'comfortable' in their lifestyles to be able to put $20 or $50 (sorry, cant find the pound sign) into BRFCS.com. Its not like its their duty just because theyre fans of BRFC and they read this MB, to get their hands in their pockets. I think its the duty of every Rovers fan that reads this site daily (or at least regularly) to pay up. I cant imagine anyone would be so tight to not donate at least a quid to the site. I have to admit, i've never stuck my hand in my pocket to support the site, but if it meant the survival of the site, i know i'd be one of the first, because, as has already been said, this site cant be touched when you see and read the rest of the dross out there. All admin and mods, put the "support the site" link on every page and people may eventually start to get the message. Anyway, i'm gonna get back to my lovely lady friend Stella and come back to this post when i can remember what it was about in the first place and look, i dont even think ive made any spelling mistakes. i'll check some other time
  18. ......or murder one of their most famous and able players because of one mistake. Who said it was just a game ??
  19. ........Turkey ......Italy Theres many countries who could be considered, or consider themselves, to be the most passionate. You can't honestly say that England has the most passionate fans when you see scenes at places like the Ali Semi Yen where lambs are brought to the stadium and sacrificed, and other such macabre shows of suggestive threats or dominance. 1 point I think you may have, which might be what you're trying to suggest in a round-a-bout way, is that England has the most passionate fans for purely footballing reasons. Nations such as the 2 suggested above don't always have the interest of football as their primary driving factor. Turkey's problems come mainly from religious beliefs, whereas Italy's history is entrenched by politics and there passion / rivalry comes from when another country or club agree or disagree with right wing or fascist regimes of their own. You certainly can't categorically state that England has the most passionate fans, when factors like that are witnessed throughout the world.
  20. This thread should have been called "Rovers Best Ever XI In The Last 20 Years Apart From Bob Crompton Because He Is The Only Player Outside The Last 20 Years That Lofty Has Ever Heard Of" We all have our favourite teams and some older posters will remember the late 50's and 60's,(and Jim who remembers as far back as the formation of BRFC all the way back in 1875), but there's so many of us who have no recollection of pre-80's, so is virtually impossible to pick an all time XI. And Lofty, how you can justify a Rovers side without Garner i'll never know, and apart from Mimms, your bench is pants too!! Also, you need to chill the hell out before you get yourself banned. Don't be a moron
  21. He must be offering something, on the training ground if nothing else, to still be employed by BRFC. Souness is no pushover. He's not the sort to let Matty off for underperforming just because Matty leaves an 'apple' on his desk every morning. He is still very skillful and just needs a run of games to bag a few goals and instill some much needed and long overdue confidence. However, i'm afraid Matty isn't now going to get this chance being 5th in the pecking order and he will be sold for peanuts or simply given away at the end of next season.
