  1. I've read the first book and tried to get through the others, but for me they are just so tedious. The structure of POV chapters is jarring as the focus jumps back and forth from place to place, plot to plot, with little payback for the effort it takes to get through another chapter of someone walking, fighting, then camping for the night. I found myself skipping page after page. But that same structure has worked excellently on TV. The episodic format with cliffhangers once a week has hooked millions into the story. The books hold a lot of depth for hardcore followers who have committed themselves. But for the majority, the story belongs on TV, and may well be one of the most successful shows ever.
  2. Ruff. No seriously. I don't like it one bit. Attitudes are changing here though, albeit slowly.
  3. There is an Indian restaurant in the city that does an awesome Mango Lassie. And my wife makes a mean Chilli Con Corgi
  4. Ramen in a Lancashire pub? Well dodged thenodrog! And they are handing Michelin Stars out to ramen places now?? A restaurant in Korea might finally have a shot at getting one of the bloody things then! This David Chang bloke may have 'reinvented' asian cuisine in the West, but there is nothing better than the real thing. The main reason I decided to move to Korea permanently was the food. Well, that, the wife and the money.
  5. Quite a funny story. Needless snide remark.
  6. New season has started slow again. Everyone just getting into position i suppose. Don't know why we are still following that big blonde knight around. She'd better do something good soon!
  7. Chinese man goes on tour with "Sean Dyche's chin" lookalike pig
  8. Brian Cookson keeping it local. Good on him!
  9. Anyone watching 24? The school assembly style House of Commons led by PM Stephen Fry is ridiculous!
  10. It's ok TJ I was talking about Poirot. Hate that waffle munching moustache waxing knowitall By the way, despite "gauging yourself" sounding like some kind of torture off Game of Thrones, I think you meant "gorge".
  11. Ding dong the kean is dead!! But whodunnit?
  12. The two doctors were a bit odd. But perhaps teaching EFL has made me impervious to awkwardly phrased Asian-English dialogue. I found the romance far fetched but really charming.
  13. If you don't mind a game that is primarily story driven with pretty limited gameplay (think The Walking Dead), may I recommend To The Moon. It came out a few years ago, but I only just came across it on gog.com. It is quite honestly the best story I've witnessed come out of a computer game. Moving, emotional, suprising, twisting. It really surprised me
  14. Oh and I suppose Holocaust jokes make you the life and soul of the party.
  15. Daejeon rallied well under a new manager but didn't quite escape. They were relegated today.
  16. That's one of the worst comments I've read on here for a while. Clearly you spend your free hours looking for a reaction on here, so I'll try not to give one other than to say that thenodrog, I pity anyone who knows you.
  17. http://int.soccerway.com/national/korea-republic/k-league-classic/2013/championship-round/r20386/ That link was to the botton half of the league. It splits into two now at the half way point of the season. here is the situation at the top.http://int.soccerway.com/national/korea-republic/k-league-classic/2013/championship-round/r20386/ We are 9 hours ahead here on the peninsula so kick off will be 5am Sunday in the UK.
  18. The Korean league has come down to a knicker twisting climax with my adopted city Ulsan playing the Pohang Steelers in a championship decider. Think Liverpool Arsenal 1989. What makes it worse is Ulsans top striker Kim Shin Wook is suspended. i wish Rovers would have a look at him. http://m.youtube.com/results?q=kim%20shin%20wook&sm=3
  19. I finally watched Searching for Sugarman. Fantastic documentary that really sells it's story. It's one of those where the less you know about it beforehand the better. And clearly not many people knew anything about him before this film.
  20. Korea vs. Croatia is on tv at the moment. Up front for Croatia is one Nikloa Kalinic. He looks to have lost none of his weakness and lack of balance. When you are getting outmuscled by a Korean fullback you know its time to hit the gym. He's also missed a sitter set up by Eduardo. Mind you this new crop of Korean players coming through is not much to write home about (in which case I will stop writing home about them right now).
  21. You'd be screwed over here in Korea - you HAVE to cook the menu. you cook most things yourself in restaurants here.
  22. Series 3 of Game of Thrones is finally getting going. Episode 4 was one of the best.
  23. Quality throughout the team - except for Kaba Diawara
  24. Looks like our old friend Owen Coyle has a rather seedy past as a 1920s gangster. See if you can spot him at around 0.30 mark.
