  1. Just watched Steve COCKrill interview on the bbc website. couldnt help but laugh at him, just looked resigned to the fact that they arent gonna get another chance for a good few seasons, ###### funny lads, ###### funny http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/4300359.stm#
  2. He certainly has something about him. Hughesy says that he has a presence on and off, he seems a good professional, who takes his oppourtunity seriously. To me he is the typical Oceania sportsman, I can imagine him middle order, knockin the odd century, and somehow getting a 40 odd average, he is that kinda guy you know, concentration is the name of his game!! Great buy, and on his way to being first choice in a successful defence
  3. hmmm... sorry to pour a dampmer on this but he does turn in a few indifferent performances. The guy has def got what it takes, but i really hope the rest of the team can afford to play their game, keep things tight, whilst he comes up with his moment of brilliance
  4. Mate, we wont lose to leicester if we play like we did, cos they are just as crap as you. what it comes down to is the fact that we will always score more than you. put in your best performance ever and you wouldnt get more than 4 shots on target, maybe one amazing goal like last night that 9 times out of 10 would end up in my hands 20 rows back. Rovers to always win, fact is your club are not winners, they are also rans
  5. Neither the highlights from last night, nor those from the first game ( not that there were any) are on rovers world- does this mean that they dont have the rights, or are they just really slow putting them up?
  6. If you want to see that Eddie, go nick a ball off a 10 year old, you'll get the same reaction. Come back when youve realised that you cant argue against diving, when you condone the reaction of those players. Entertainment is football, that was not football!!
  7. SIZE=7]WHAT??? That was a disgracefull game and a @#/? advert for the English game!!! An absolute disgrace of a first half where no football was played and every player on the pitch was guilty of acting like a little girl!! It comes to something when Wayne Rooney is allowed to stay on the pitch after telling the ref to F*** off at least twenty times for giving an obvious handball against him Then there was the reaction by the United players to the first freekick of the game, hounding poor Graham Poll from the very start!! Then there was Thierry Henry, tapping Silvestre on the head like a dog, then has the balls to ask what he had done wrong!! I could list a lot more instances of petulance and unsportsman like conduct, how did we let the game be degraded so badly!! Two points illustrate just how shocking the conduct of both teams was. Roy Carroll handballs it outside the area. Now it was a close call, and one that Graham Poll could have given either way. But he chose to give the handball. Inexplicably he does not send Carroll off!!! Why? Because it is the first half and he is the goalkeeper. The stick he would recieve from every United player on the field would be unbearable!! The second instance was the sending off of Silvestre. Normally calm and collected, the constant bickering, pushing, kicking and faking injury of the Arsenal players drives him to headbutt one. Now Im not sure if it was just me or did the headbutt seem like so much less of a dispicable offence than any of the conduct of both teams in that first half??? If bellamy and others thinks that is what we want to see week in week out then I scold him and weep for the game of football!! That was not a passionate encounter, passion within the gamwe is needed. But when every decision is met with the type of reaction that made me want to follow rugby instead, passion has clearly turned to cheating!! Wayne Rooney is of teh Premiership generation, al young man who has grown up watching the petchulant actions of players such as henry, rather than the honest foul- freekick structure of the beautiful game. Consequently, every whistle from the ref is up for debate, no not debate sorry, insult, bullying and other despicable actions. Fines will not work, ban them.. If this is what you want to see Bellamy, go drink 10 pints and pick a fight!! Give us our football back!!!
  8. Ashley Ward, Mr. Relegation. Missed a sitter against United to send us down
  9. There was a thing going with Southhampton strikers for a while- Shearer came, Davies, Ostenstad, (not to mention the constant Le Tissier rumours.) Jeff Kenna and Tim Flowers too. Then Ripley, Beattie, Davies went down there. The mid nineties saw a good relationship between the clubs tranfer-wise ( apart from the fact that Hodgson paid stupid money just to land Fatty McPieFace-Davies)
  10. Got to get some good photos of this on the website!! Take a difital camera (inflatable if possible) Sounds like it will be a sight to behold!
  11. I think Blackburn Rovers are at the pinicle of their current potential. To say that Souness has taken them as far as he can means that he has to be replaced, and someone else come in! This would be almost impossible! If you look at the type of side that we are, it is impossible to argue that we deserve to be in a better position than we are. As is acknowledged by all managers in the premiership at some point, any team can beat anyone on their day. The difference between the clubs from 6th to 17th is very little, and this only goes to prove the point. Last season it was us and Everton who were at the top of the mid table sides, this season it is Villa, Charlton, and Fulham. What Souness has done for us is ensure that we have Premiership football for another season. He has weathered the storm I believe, and will go into next season having learned from the last. To say that this season has been a failure is over the top. Priority number one is all but achieved. Cups will be played for again next season, but dropping down a league is the only thing in my book that would constitute a season of failure for Rovers. That isnt going to happen, so we have avoided disaster. What the club really needs at this point is continuity; a change in manager would disrupt what is an evolving team. If you look at the events of last summer with Duff and Dunn leaving, a period of transition was almost inevitable. Souness may have cut it fine, but he and the team have succeeded in keeping this club in a position where it has the potetial to grow. In my eyes we are still a season or two off stepping it up a level. Yes we were in Europe last season, but we are clearly not a club that can compete at that level yet. Souness recognises that all that is important for Rovers is to be in the Premiership. That is all Blackburn can and should aim for at the moment. A change of manager therefore would be harmful. Souness is keeping us at the top of our current potential and fulfilling the goal that is required of him. Consistency and a long term plan is what is required. We saw the problems created by short term goals after we won the league. Business guru and allround wise one Jack Walker saw the fact that Rovers won the title a year too early. Establishing ourselves as a Premiership club is goal number one. Aiming too high has huge implications, as we have seen from Rovers disgruntled home support this season, having a negative effect on home form. Souness is the man to keep this club moving up. His resignation would be a disaster for Rovers.
  12. Well done to you for admitting your mistake. As souness has said, he has not changed anything great, its just players have started to perform on the pitch. It is not a case of turning things round, I think all those who were not calling for Sounesses head recognised that the team had it in them to go on a run. It was not a change at the top that was needed, it was the players and fans needed to get their belief back. Rovers fans have been very quick to call for a change of manager ever since 94/95. What we need to realise is that sometimes teams have bad seasons. The good thing is that we have the manager and the players that can stop a bad season turning into a disasterous season. Again I congratulate you on admitting your mistake.
  13. Don't know if people have come across this online management game, but i just started a few weeks ago. I manage Aggie Rovers in the USA, currently climbing up the table in VI.60. Let me know if you're already on it, and if not, i recommend joining up. Laters.Link
  14. Absolutely unbelievable. You don't just pick managers up off the side of the road, dust them down and give them a job. If you believe Rovers could replace Souness and do better you must be mad. When we got promotion, Souness was the ideal voice of reason. He set out to establish us as a Premiership club, by keeping us there for five years. This was an understated yet profound goal that shows us just how right Souness is about the size and capabilities of this club. Last season's sixth position was an amazing feat, but it was clear that any one of the mid table club could have gone on a good run like us. Souness' realism is exactly what we need to hear. Sacking a manager who has been in office for a decent amount of time is clearly an action that reeks of panic. I suspect anyone who calls for the head of Souness to be a gloryhunter. Sorry but if you think that rovers should be breaking into the top five, beating clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool on a regular basis, you are living in cloud cuckoo land. No club that gets gates under 30,000 can survive at that level. Also, the heart of the team that got us up and into the top six has disappeared. I am pleased enough with the signing King Souey has made, but a season of consolidation and mid table obscurity is perhaps needed first. Fans that call for Souness to be sacked seem to have it in their heads that Rovers are some underachieving team, that we should be in for silverware every season. The fact of the matter is that we have had rollercoaster years every year since Uncle Jack came on the scene. I dont think this season will be one. We are headed to be the Middlesbro or Spurs of the season, or maybe the next few seasons! Why can't people be happy with that?!!! Why can't they realise that last season was as good as it gets for a while. This is not a lack of ambition , more it is a realistic view of the club during this epoch, with Souness as manager!!! Patience will pay off, in the mean time, recognise the double over Arsenal for what it was, or the defeat of United, or Chelsea, it was amazing!! That is what us town teams should sing and dance about!! Victories that show us for what we are, a team that plays football the right way and show the will to win!! We are heading the right way. that is to be a bona fide premiership club. As for those who talk about relegation this season, take your head out of your arse and cheer the Rovers on! You know we aren't going down, you just like to whinge!!
