  1. Just wondering, if all Mark Lawrenson's predictions were right, where would we be in the league right now? I have not once seen him predict a win for us! It would be interesting to see a league table based on all Lawro's predictions this season and see where the teams would all be!
  2. I think some folk are going overboard on the Cisse chants. The way I saw it was not a chant at his leg break last season but a chant towards "hows your leg" after he went down like a ton of bricks to Zurab's challenge, and he was fine 30 seconds later. Cisse is a prick, and will soon be away from there anyhow.
  3. Anyone see Phil Thomson on the telly with Savage? Thomson was cryin out for a Penalty when Nelson challenged Morientes (I think). He said it was a definite penalty!!!! Never have I heard so much tripe...and the look on Savage's face as Thomson went on was fantastic. Good to see him tell Thomson what it really was - a nudge ...never in a million years was it a penalty! Get it right up Thomson! Well done Savage! Up in my estimation now!
  4. HUGHES PLEASE LEARN FROM THAT SPINLESS DISPLAY THAT WAS THE SPURS GAME. 1. Nissa is no Left Back.... 2. Ferguson needs to communicate more as captain 3. GIVE MGP A CHANCE The first names on the teamsheet should be FRIEDEL, TODD, FERGUSON (despite an abysmal display against Spurs) DICKOV We need COMPETITION for RB as Neill has been poor for 1 1/2 seasons now. Could TUGAY fill this emergency role???!!! SHORT is no-nonscence but unlikely to last full 90. But then the other options are seriously poor. NISSA has had his chance...HE IS SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH. GRAY or REID for LEFT BACK?? TUGAY not bad against Spurs. A dilemma now after THOMMO was dissappointing. GALLY for a sub, he seems to do 10 times better in games he COMES OFF THE BENCH! FREIDEL NEILL?? TODD SHORT GRAY/REID EMERTON TUGAY FERGUSON PEDERSON DICKOV STEAD? Bench: Enkleman, Gallagher, Johansson, Bothroyd, Flitcroft
  5. Reid probably does just edge the Mom. He was very INVOLVED shall we say today. Set up the first, scored the second, tussled with Gronkjaer and Savage....but had a few lapses too. The second half performance was engineered by Ferguson. He is THE key play at the club. We need him alongside Thomson in the middle now. Tugay either does something brilliant like the ball to Reid for the first, or something downright foolish. He is such a frustrating player to watch, because he does have natural talent, but simply gifts possession on too many occassions. I have never been comfortable with Johnasson at the back. You just want him to get rid of the ball as soon as he gets it for fear of him doing something stupid. (Which in essence he does, albeit usually a hopeless hoof up the park). What options do we have though? Todd for me should be there on account that he has been the best of the 4 or 5 centre backs we've played...but alongside him??? We're pretty stuck for consistant options aren't we. I think Gray should come back into the side for the next game, McEveley has been too vulnerable. Not discounting Jay's chances for the future but now we need experience. Emerton was frustrating today. I don't think he had a particularly good game. Dickov was as tenecious as ever, and so too was Gallagher. I do like Paul Gallagher. He surely can develop into the poacher striker (although where was he on the rebound for Reids shot today!), He works darn hard....perhaps deserves a chance. One problem I have is that Lucas Neill has been poor for some time now, but his position seems of least threat. Surely he must have played more games than anyone for us within the last year?? (Someone will no doubt correct me!) But is there any competition for right back? Surely this, along with a central defender is of paramount importance come January. Summary... FRIEDEL - 6 Not much he could do with the goals NEILL - 5 Gave ball away/beaten too easily by Gronkjaer 1st half, needs competition for position JOHANSSON - 5 Always looked nervous on the ball. Struggles at passing TODD - 7 Best defender, didn't dive in MCEVELEY - 4 Disappointing, DID dive in! Inexperience showing. But I still have faith in him. REID - 8 Best game I've seen him play. Very involved. I still need convincing though! FERGUSON - 8 Inspired 2nd half revival. Needs equally good partner in centre. TUGAY - 5 Great ball for first, but as frustrating as ever. Has had his chance. Next... EMERTON - 6 One of his poorer games this year JANSEN - 6 Well taken goal, although done nothing fter that DICKOV - 7 His determination brough about the equaliser. Subs - THOMPSON - 8 For the time he had on, he without doubt influenced the game. Hope he is back and fit for next week. GALLAGHER - 7 Worked hard, deserves a chance.
  6. Advocaat is not working. Van Basten is the Dutch boss now is he not? Please NO to Advocaat. His recent track record has been poor, and unworthy of the Premiership. Hughes or wee Gord please!!
  7. MATTEO AND NISSA MUST NOT START NEXT GAME... IN ANY POSITION. Both were sluggish, and did they not get in each others way>? When the hell is out first win coming from? WE MUST HAVE GALLY AS A SUB TO COME ON MR SOUNESS. I've had just about enough of this falling out with players nonsence, get a grip man. We must start like this: FRIEDEL NEILL SHORT AMORUSO GRAY THOMPSON FERGUSON TUGAY DE PEDRO STEAD DICKOV On the bench: Gally, Yorke (trying in 1 game is not good enough tho), Matteo (just), Emerton, - A. N Other.... If we are to get this Pedersen...(and lets hope he's an improvement on Tore and Per!) then perhaps he! We need a reliable defender. Why did we not set our stall out for one after the disaster than was last season, and the ensuing disaster that is this. He gets Matteo plays him in midfield. The guy is poor, and has added nothing.
  8. The STARTING LINE UP must be: Friedel Neill Short Amoruso/Matteo Gray Emerton Ferguson Tugay De Pedro Stead Dickov Bench: Enkleman, Matteo/Amoruso, Yorke, Gallagher, Thomson. - Hopefully Thomo is nearing fitness, and could replace Emerton at some point. - Matteo has looked a liability to me in the 2 games, but surely he's a centre back, not a centre mid, and definately not a left winger! - Dickov must start after his tenatious 2nd half display. He will prob not last the full 90 though cause he does sooo much running...which is ehre Gallagher/Yorke come in. - I assume De Pedro still had a 'knock', which is why he didn't feature. He must be given a chance in his rightful position. Possibly having Dickov playing in front of him to offer a bit of pace there though! In any case surely Gray should have then taken left mid role yesterday, as Gresko was available. - Nissa I'm sorry! How many times did he just hoof the ball up in any direction. He mad 1 forward pass the whole game yesterday, the rest was lumped! Now ok there are times when you need that, but not everytime you get the ball! Ok so Short does it too, but not to the same degree.
  9. Now we need AT LEAST ONE DEFENDER. Preferably a Central Defender. It surely has to be top of the priority list now. Given that Babbel and Todd (likely) are not here, we need to delve for a top notch central defender. And if its true that we haven't needed to pay serious money for De Pedro and Dickov then surley the majority of the pot should go towards a Centrl Defender. Just the problem of who now! - Pity Puyol hadn't just fell out wi folk at Barca and refused a new contract. He's top notch!!!
