  1. Could i ask what you are basing this on?
  2. There has to be a buyer first at Venkys valuation. I'm lead to believe any real interest is thinking £9 million with adds ons. Our valuation is £20 million. If things dont change one way or the other he won't be sold
  3. Vale struggled whilst out on loan non league, done well at under 21s done okay at under 23s, had some terrible injury luck, probably needs a league 1 loan. Phillips, lots of hype given by TM, but still a boy, needs a loan and some games under his belt, before we can realistically consider him first team here. Garrett, should get some games this season, will take time a little like Buckley to really breakthrough but certainly worth some gametime. I'd like to think each season we are giving our young players some gametime, but not to the detriment of results. As Carter showed last season, he has some talent but was nowhere near ready for the championship and a good loan to Portsmouth, hopefully has given him some much needed expereience to push on with us this season
  4. Both Travis and Wharton were given their chance by Mowbray, thats a fact. Travis now nearly 90 appearance for Rovers under Mowbray. Wharton was ever present once given his chance, and kept Ayala out the side. Neither sold and nothing to suggest either would be sold. He signed Clarkson, it didnt work out, but then he signed Elliott, Van Hecke, Khadra, Harwood-Bellis etc. So one bad loan when you consider the calibre of the others is not the best example. The truth is, these youth players got their chance under TM, when they were ready
  5. Then Suhail says, nah lets ask some of my agent friends
  6. Regardless if you rate or hate them, the facts are we have lost 5 of last seasons regurlar starting line up, plus squad players like Johnson and Davenport and Poveda. We have signed NO-ONE bar a development player released by Preston. This talk of the academy players is just laughable. We had these last season, some have already had a chance here and out on loan and to date have not shown anything to suggest they can fill the holes we have been left with. TM statistically gave more games to academy/youth players than any other manager in the clubs history, so knew a thing or two about who was good enough or ready for a 46 game championship season. We are two weeks from the season start, and if by some miracle we sign 3 players in time for the QPR game, we are still some way off from replacing just what we've lost. We've had a close season of anxiety, worry due to the absolute farce which was our management search. It got to the stage, as each and every manager was ruled out that most were genuinely worried we'd appoint bottom shelf calibre. JDT's appointment was a relief given the other linked names we were left with, but i'm under no illusions, we have not just appointed Ancelloti. He has said the right things, done well at Malmo which is like managing Rangers or Celtic, but will need some luck and is by no means a sure thing of being a success. Everyone is hopeful, me included that he is successful and this appointment works. However taking away the appointment, no signings yet. We maybe trying hard, but not hard enough as there is obviously an issue why we dont appear to be able to get anything over the line. I dont know if its the same wage structure which has seen three leave for free this summer, or we actually dont have a clue what we need. We have relied on a good start in the Championship in recent seasons, and oh boy we've needed it, given our new year collapse each year. A bad start and that positivity starts to drain away, i'm quite worried and feeling less optimistic by the day. If we suddenly lose BBD as we did with Armstrong last season with no replacement too, then we will be heading just one way this season, and thats not towards the prem
  7. I cant see how the club can not honour them if they are old given these are the ones on their website. Its mis-selling a product if you are signing up based on its terms
  8. I've been patient for 12 years, Squad decimated because of poor administration on contracts, Late managerial appointments because of board. None of the above the managers fault, However this blue print restart is not acceptable, unless people are held accountable for putting us in this position. Had we cleared out the board, i'd happily say we start again, however thats not the case and its down to the club to prove that everything which was/has been done was to increase our chances of promotion. Waiting another 3 or 4 years, with a risk we could have 2 or 3 more managers in that time is not an excuse I can personally accept.
  9. Looking at terms Season ticket holder with 1875 gets 10% off all home tickets, so if buying for friend, and also certain retail items. This rachets down to 7.5 % non 1875 members and 5% to 1875 but non season ticket holder If you choose to opt in to club cash this reduces to 2% discount, but your club cash kitty increases. Quite a few hidden giveaways in this, but as previously mentioned club cash needs to be used by 2 year ago, so again the terms are shockingly put together. Either way, my 1875 is bought on these terms so be interesting if this is wrong or right
  10. This is the terms on website regarding 1875/club cash although not sure how up to date, given its says club cash needs to be redeemed by 2020. That being said, given its the terms on the website then rovers are bound by these, which states discount on all home games and various other benefits
  11. Bought this 1875 today as the season ticket bolt on, However correct me if i'm wrong, but its very good value for non season ticket holders due to all home games having money knocked off if you are a member, with the only real benefit of having it as a season ticket holder is priority on the burnley ticket away, as i'd imagine i can get all the other away tickets without the need of having this?
  12. If its a complete reset button and we hear "we are on a journey", "we will need 3 transfer windows" ect ect. Then IMHO, we have gone backwards. Replacing the manager when we finished 8th, is only acceptable if we are looking to equal or better than this season, and NOT in 3 or 4 years time
  13. I'd say its a pride thing, those first few years which ended with a relegation (which is well documented), so we wont go over old ground, pretty much screwed up any real chance of them being a success. The loss of revenues just cant be plugged. We cant sell the tickets, and tbh they are a drop in the ocean in terms of Sky money lost through not being in the premiership. Would new owners change our fortunes? Sadly I dont think so, given our current owners are ploughing money in (interest free) with no current mechanism or indication that its a loan they want back. Would a better board increase some revenue and make better use of our assets and purchases? My personal opinion is yes, as the current remit appears to have no baring on what happens on the pitch, results are evidently second to showing better figures in the P &L. Time and football has evolved now to the levels, where we are a less attractive proposition to new owners anyway given our crowds, loss of sponsorship etc. We'd end up with much worse than Venkys, which in itself shows how far we've fallen. If anything taking inflation and everything else into account, we are probably slightly worse off than we were before Jack Walker took over, as we are not totally reliant on them servicing the debts
  14. Rovers have gone from punching above their weight based on money spent on wages/transfers under the walkers trust in the premiership, to now punching above their weight in the championship. Venkys put a lot of money in, but it pretty much services the debts. Beyond that our wage structure and money available for transfers is no longer competitive enough for a championship club with aspirations of the premiership. We are not alone in that within the championship and fall in that bottom half category. As each season passes, we will get closer to being league 1, than premiership. Everything is on the rise in football, transfer fees, wages, cost of going. At the same time the cost of living is rising even quicker. In recent times, money from transfers recieved has gone to balancing the books with very little spent in terms of transfer fees. Rovers are being left behind, and the "run a tight ship theme" looks very much here to stay. Its very evident that we just cant compete on wages, and still think loans, free transfers and players under a million will suffice. This belief that our academy will keep us pushing forwards towards the premier league is dillusuonal, given very few players in 30 years have come through there and gone on to be exceptional premier league players. Its sad to say, but we are just making the numbers up, and as each season passes, we will struggle to even do that unless there is a massive shift in the boards/owners ambitions. The season starts in less than three weeks, and as things stand unless bodies start to arrive (who are at least as good as , the ones who left this summer), we are going to be in for a tough start and a very long season.
  15. I would bet my house on it there is a nice signing on fee, Lenihan got a tasty one, and Nyambe will be no different.
  16. He will get a significant signing on fee, given he is a free agent, his weekly wage will be irrelevant as that signing on fee will be very nice
  17. Hence i said i will reserve judgement til Xmas
  18. I do think a lot of weight being put into the under 23s. My issue with that is, the teams the under 23s play are often very diluted of quality as the bigger clubs have most of their top youths out on loan elsewhere. Was it 60 players man city had out on loan last season? Nearly 50 Chelsea? Etc. We all love someone coming through the ranks, and would like nothing better, it gives us all a buzz. However we need to be careful of thinking its the answer as its more likely to be false economy than a conveyor belt of superstars
  19. We have created our own issues on that front, by taking an eternity to sort this out when it was clear the manager was leaving. It is Rovers who decided to bring a director of football in at the end of the season and get rid of the head of recruitment. If and ifs a big word, we dont get adequate business done before transfer deadline, then this is self inflicted, and not an acceptable excuse by any standards
