  1. I'd say its a pride thing, those first few years which ended with a relegation (which is well documented), so we wont go over old ground, pretty much screwed up any real chance of them being a success. The loss of revenues just cant be plugged. We cant sell the tickets, and tbh they are a drop in the ocean in terms of Sky money lost through not being in the premiership. Would new owners change our fortunes? Sadly I dont think so, given our current owners are ploughing money in (interest free) with no current mechanism or indication that its a loan they want back. Would a better board increase some revenue and make better use of our assets and purchases? My personal opinion is yes, as the current remit appears to have no baring on what happens on the pitch, results are evidently second to showing better figures in the P &L. Time and football has evolved now to the levels, where we are a less attractive proposition to new owners anyway given our crowds, loss of sponsorship etc. We'd end up with much worse than Venkys, which in itself shows how far we've fallen. If anything taking inflation and everything else into account, we are probably slightly worse off than we were before Jack Walker took over, as we are not totally reliant on them servicing the debts
  2. Rovers have gone from punching above their weight based on money spent on wages/transfers under the walkers trust in the premiership, to now punching above their weight in the championship. Venkys put a lot of money in, but it pretty much services the debts. Beyond that our wage structure and money available for transfers is no longer competitive enough for a championship club with aspirations of the premiership. We are not alone in that within the championship and fall in that bottom half category. As each season passes, we will get closer to being league 1, than premiership. Everything is on the rise in football, transfer fees, wages, cost of going. At the same time the cost of living is rising even quicker. In recent times, money from transfers recieved has gone to balancing the books with very little spent in terms of transfer fees. Rovers are being left behind, and the "run a tight ship theme" looks very much here to stay. Its very evident that we just cant compete on wages, and still think loans, free transfers and players under a million will suffice. This belief that our academy will keep us pushing forwards towards the premier league is dillusuonal, given very few players in 30 years have come through there and gone on to be exceptional premier league players. Its sad to say, but we are just making the numbers up, and as each season passes, we will struggle to even do that unless there is a massive shift in the boards/owners ambitions. The season starts in less than three weeks, and as things stand unless bodies start to arrive (who are at least as good as , the ones who left this summer), we are going to be in for a tough start and a very long season.
  3. I would bet my house on it there is a nice signing on fee, Lenihan got a tasty one, and Nyambe will be no different.
  4. He will get a significant signing on fee, given he is a free agent, his weekly wage will be irrelevant as that signing on fee will be very nice
  5. Hence i said i will reserve judgement til Xmas
  6. I do think a lot of weight being put into the under 23s. My issue with that is, the teams the under 23s play are often very diluted of quality as the bigger clubs have most of their top youths out on loan elsewhere. Was it 60 players man city had out on loan last season? Nearly 50 Chelsea? Etc. We all love someone coming through the ranks, and would like nothing better, it gives us all a buzz. However we need to be careful of thinking its the answer as its more likely to be false economy than a conveyor belt of superstars
  7. We have created our own issues on that front, by taking an eternity to sort this out when it was clear the manager was leaving. It is Rovers who decided to bring a director of football in at the end of the season and get rid of the head of recruitment. If and ifs a big word, we dont get adequate business done before transfer deadline, then this is self inflicted, and not an acceptable excuse by any standards
  8. I will reserve judgement on transfers/activity etc, until Xmas. Other clubs are getting business done, who have new managers, hopefully there is a plan and we dont get to transfer deadline day with us losing Brereton and having no replacement. I think we'd all like to see players coming through the door, its not happened yet, maybe we've not bid for any yet. We appear to have the set up in place to get transfers done, we allegedly have a healthy budget, i'm sat here with everything crossed that come Xmas, we are competing 8th or higher, as anything less than that this season, means we've taken a step backwards
  9. I wish i could of worded my post like yours, absolutely 100% how I feel. You have my vote, to represent me
  10. I think i have every home and away shirt since 1981 and the third strips too. I bought both of the re-released retro shirts too as i think they are a great effort. However if i'm parting with £150 plus to buy all three shirts this season, as i do every season then i really do need to like it, and it needs to be a quality product. I needed to change last seasons home shirt twice due to the stitching off the arm coming off the first day I wore it. It was a nice looking shirt, but needed looking after like an antique. On this occasion I dont like the shirt, if it turns up in the sale at the end of the season, then i will probably buy one, as I collect shirts and have a couple of hundred of them now. My support is no less by not buying or liking it, and don't like my support being questioned because I dont like it (not you btw) some things I read on twitter. I've also seen three post on FB where the sponsor has peeled off already. I have my season ticket renewed, will get my parking pass, will spend cash in the blues bar. I'm just not liking this new vibe from many quarters which is suggestive that unless you are being supportive of everything, we dont need your support or business. Its getting louder too, because many fans have walked away, leaving a majority who will be pleased whatever happens
  11. You are not allowed to not like the shirt, as you are deemed "a negative supporter" and the club dont want negative supporters.
  12. £3 Million, decent wages, we can ill afford to shoot our load on one player, however good he may look. We need 9 or 10 players. Disappointing, but in the end probably the right decision to not over commit on the first signing
  13. I'm open minded at present, sort of at a crossroads. There is certainly some positive things with a change in management but it was never forseen 18 months ago. I've seen the latest business engagement brochure which has been quite well recieved. I liked the retro shirts done last season. I'm optimistic that we have a transfer budget, We are an established championship side now, and although disappointed we couldn't sustain our promotion push, it was nice to feel we was actually in the race. The rest is very much in the air, and proof will be in the pudding i guess. I have my season ticket, looking forwards to getting my new shirt, and thankful that touch wood i get to see season 22/23
  14. Employees only, 1 season ticket
  15. Totally wicked are subsidising it, Its a great idea
  16. Was talking to a Portsmouth fan who thinks they are on for 20k,
  17. Could be a few take up totally wicked's employee offer. All employees will get £100 off season ticket funded by Totally wicked, and also big discount on replica kits - 2 per household
  18. I believe some maintenance to the stands if going to be carried out via rope access, Taziker doing the works
  19. We could do buy one get one free and still have a third of a stadium to fill. The free kids tickets should of stayed, its these we want to catch the bug
