  1. The 10 players to score 100 goals for Rovers, in alphabetical order, are: Tommy Briggs (143), Jack Bruton (115), Peter Dobing (104), Bryan Douglas (115), Simon Garner (192), Ted Harper (122), Eddie Latheron (104), Andy McEvoy (103), Alan Shearer (130) and Jack Southworth (121) Jordan Rhodes hit 84 goals in 3 and half seasons at Rovers, which has him 13th in the clubs all time records, Yes he had his critics, but did exactly what he was bought for. he has suffered since leaving by lack of game time, but if he came back, im sure he would be a 20 goal man again. It was only a few weeks back he hit a hat trick in a rare start for Sheff Wed
  2. I would of had Paul Gallagher back, wanted to come back when we were relegated. 2 and 1/2 seasons later, still doing ok for northend, despite spending more time in midfield now adays. Like downing, excellent on the ball, and good for 60 -65 minutes. We could do a lot worse given we have no cash, at least he creates goals. Think he has 5 goals in 22 games this season, which is a good return given he is not playing up front.
  3. Very poor game, 2 sides lacking in confidence and ideas. A draw a very fair result despite us nearly winning in stoppage time. Walton - might be doing him an injustice but their goal apprared where I was sat to go straight down the middle, but that maybe the angle I was sat, bar that never had too much to do -7 Nyambe - didnt half get grief from me last season as he had more touches than anyone but always went backwards. This season different player and was arguably our best outlet until he went off -8 Tosin - comfortable game and good improvisation at other end that nearly bagged a winner - 7 Lenihan - Like Tosin, never put a foot wrong and kept Pne quiet - 7 Evans - wasnt on long enough , but a better player than Johnson and we were evidently not ad good when he went off -6 Travis - one of his quiter games in a dour fixture where we cancelled each other out -6 Gallagher - played wide again, never beat the first man with a number of crosses, was ineffective in the air and despite a bit of running closing down, id be looking for a refund if he had cost half a million - 5 Downing- Steady enough game without creating too much of note -7 Holtby - took 25 minutes before he touched ball, but had a couple of good efforts on gosl snd looked most likely to create or score a goal -7 Armstrong - was very lively, scored a good goal and 3 times raced past Gallager to chase a ball down Gallagher should of chased, needs some support - 8 Bell - was much better defensively and came to rescue 3 times when it looked like North end were in. Not as effective going forwards, but defensively solid - 7 Subs Bennett - looked off the pace and brought very little to the party -5 Graham - had a couple of chances at back post but failed to control - 5 Johnson - Never got forwards too much and struggled on the ball in a scrappy game - 6
  4. Age cant come into it, some of the best players world wide are still boys, half the national team are still young lads. If you are good enough, you are old enough. I dont know where this myth comes from RE they are not ready at 19,20,21, 22. Thats part of TMs problem, he is living in the past You only have to look at Man Utd, and yes they are not challenging for honours, However their side is full of young kids again like the fergie mid 90s era. We have a premier league, where the likes of Rashford, Greenwood, Alexander Arnold, Gomez, Ali, Saka, Guendozi, Mount etc etc, are playing regular in the top division, in europe, at international level, at big clubs with big expectations and bigger crowds. Yes our young players are not up to their level, but they are not shrinking violets either.
  5. Im unsure what we should do, In reality we need GK, LB, RB, at least one CB 2 wingers 2 strikers If TM is staying then we need to spend, if he is on borrowed time, then i'd rather spend nothing and wait until we get a new manager. In recent games its been a case of 11 players on pitch, no real plan and a team which looks like all the confidence has been sucked from it. I dont know if this is due to the weekly constant changes to the line up, or players just playing out of position. Players get managers sacked, but in our case too many are just not good enough, which comes down to recruitment. Twitter is twitter, people claiming Brereton was crying today due to abuse. The reality is, he was shocking again, someone says they heard one thing, someone takes that as a fact, then twist a story to make it sound believable and then uses mental health awareness day as justification. These players get good money to play football, they get grief when they are not playing well, as its a sport of emotion. The opposition support give them grief, it comes with the territory. How many on here can honestly say they've never given the ref grief, not joined in with the chants " you dont know what you are doing", "the referees a w@@k@r" . "We're playing 12 again", is this not bullying also? Is this a disgrace too? Our players need to stand up to be counted, stop hiding behind excuses, as does the manager. The team is about where it should be given the personnel we have. TM Says there is no cash, so on that basis, the squad we already have needs to pull its socks up and prove they are of championship standard
  6. My view of Mowbray is he was like a breathe of fresh air when he came in and during our promotion season. He said the right things, assembled a pretty decent side in league 1 and brought a bit of pride back into the shirt. That being said, his signings since promotion with the biggest spend of any manager during Venkys reign have in the main been disappointing. Dack is the one who has been a massive success and is one of the best bargains we've ever found, but lets not kid ourselves most clubs find a bargain each season sell him make money, then find another. Some frustrations £12 million on strikers that neither score or play consistently in the position they were bought for. His failure to buy a goalkeeper, in what world as a championship professional club do we fail to have a first choice keeper contracted to the club? Walton has cost us 3 or 4 games already this season. He highlighted and publically stated our defence was not good enough last season, but has failed to improve upon it. 2 of the 4 that started the season are loanees , one is out for the season, whilst the other has been steady without being spectacular. Our early season poor run was due to us having no defenders. Formation? What actually is it? The product is dross, with the odd decent game every 10 or so. In the main i've been bored at most matches this season and only get my Butt out of my seat when someone wants to walk past. Players out of position? Its quicker to list who is playing in position as that list you can count on one hand. Leaders - the team lacks any, are we any better for the loss of Conway and Mulgrew? Id say no, as we dont seem to have the same grit and determination. Are we playing better or worse this season than last? I think worse, despite more points, we drew a lot last season and the defeat column was much less at this stage last season. The team has gone stale in my opinion, all this "dont trust them to appoint anyone better"? Is hogwash, its certainly not a reason to keep a manager. Personally i think his time is up, if he left now he would leave with , "he did a good job". If he sees out the season, that good job could soon be forgotten as something needs to give. This unbeaten 8 game run, was on the back of an awful start, and has been followed by a crap xmas.
  7. Was very end to end and an exciting match, We fully deserved the win, and in the space of a week have gone from poor start to three wins on the bounce and the world looks a happier place :-). Hull are no mugs, TM tactically got it Bob on. Hull play so high, making the decision to use Armstrong down the middle a good one, it allowed us to have more of the ball and create a number of chances by stretching Hull. I was unsure what Downing would bring to us so late in his career and tbh was underwhelmed with his signing. However it's good to be wrong, he's added genuine quality/consistency in passing/ crossing in the final third which creates chances. As TM stated , we've lots of improvement in us, we need to start scoring goals again from open play and put games to bed, that being said, it's about getting the points and I will take 1-0 every week if it gets us to the right end of the table. We move onto Saturday now with a bit of confidence, if we get three points , that table is going to look pretty good, and it would be deemed an excellent start to the season.
  8. I do think Mowbray just stock piles players without any thought on where they fit in or how it affects our style of play. We dont seem to have a style of play or a fixed formation. Football is about winning, yes we like to be entertained, but a wins a win and I'd rather be unattractive and push for promotion, than be like a play ground team chucked on the pitch with all things crossed that we score one more goal than the opposition. He appears to have lost all composure In recent interviews and I'd say he is could be gone if we dont get a point on Saturday. The league cup historically is a second team game, and we cant really judge the side on tonight. It's all about the league, can TM inspire this set of players? Something has definitely gone down over the last week, the sense of togetherness seems miles away.
  9. There is a decent side in this squad somewhere, and credit to TM it's a team he has rebuilt. His biggest noose is the £12 million spent on two strikers who to date are average at best. Why we got no defenders this summer appears on the face of it to be down to funds or lack of them, despite us blowing the budget on Gallagher. I like TM as a guy, he's honest and has put a bit of pride back into the badge, I cant forget what he inherited, and he turned our fortunes. That being said , it is a results business. We sit rock bottom after 2 games and have yet to see the opposition keeper get severely tested. Our new keeper looks like his subbuteo stick has fallen off. 4 goals conceded to date, and only an own goal in the for column. We need to beat Boro next week or sadly the tide will turn against TM. Given what he's done for the club, it would be harsh if he went through a couple of months of bad results and had the crowd singing for his head. Hopefully he turns it around or if not is removed quickly with a thank you.
  10. Not a very inspiring window, Downing bags of experience but any better than Conway or should he be playing ahead of Rothwell? Free transfer and good squad player but not overly exciting signing. Tosin loan deal, mixed reviews at WBA with many glad to see back of him, that being said apparently better full back than centre back and pepe rates him, big pressure on his shoulders and all eggs in his basket now. Johnson - an improvement on Smallwood and Evan's and did well Saturday. Gallagher- frustrates life out of me, 6.5 and cant win an aerial dual, money should of been spent elsewhere and I think Graham is a better option. Walton - talking to in laws (home and away Wigan season ticket holders) say great shopper but cant catch a cold or command his box, only on loan but better was available. Cunningham- makes that 3 loans, but a great signing despite not much football last 12 months , will be more defensive minded and we need that. Mulgrew apparently had major bust up with Mowbray this morning, a lot of unrest due to interview were the defence was slagged off (defence has been poor). Then TM basically told club to get him out. Unhappy camp , not a good sign with a number of players questioning interview, and TM Top 6 the target, then a disastrous window like this, I'm sure a few will say We ve let go passed it players, but we've let go key leaders in the changing room and popular characters in the squad. I think TM may be lucky to get to November as the funds were there and this is how it's been spent
  11. Had the pleasure of playing against him for 70 minutes in Legends match, he walked through the game, barely broke a sweat.
  12. If we get Brereton and Reed over the line , those two along with Rothwell, Armstrong, Rodwell, Palmer have all represented England at some level , As a championship club to achieve that from just 7 signings ain’t a bad summers work. English players , with great potential joining a team brimming with confidence with only something like 4 defeats in 60 odd games. We’ve got to be happy with this surely? given the other player is Davenport who City rated highly and we’ve nailed Lenihan, Dack and Raya down to new deals, I can’t remember us having a squad with so much potential
  13. My thoughts to date: We have replaced Payne, Chapman and Antonnson with Palmer , Rothwell and Davenport . the question is, are these better than the three we had last season? Only time will tell on that front. We have tied a few players down to new contracts , although in football that does not mean an awful lot bar you can potentially get a better sale fee if the player has longer on his contract . After promotion last season I would of been shocked if anyone had been sold , given the momentum and positivity around the squad. last season we finished second in league 1 and pretty much have the same team this time around but now a division higher. I think 10 of the 11 who started Saturday started the first game of last season. We talk about budgets etc , but in today’s market what we have spent is way below what is needed for what is increasingly becoming a premier league 2, if the money was there to improve the squad with solid championship players , then we have failed miserably on the permanent signing front . i see a lot pointing at the loan window as the second coming and yes we may pull 2 or 3 out of the bag and end up with some top youngsters. However all in all considering the ever increasing rising in transfer fees we are just not at the races to compete on a level playing field. We need wide players , a couple of strikers, a centre back and a right back as a bare minimum. However instead of experienced pros , with proven track records , it looks like we may end up going down the route of sighing another teams potential on loan . The championship is going to be tough, we will need a good start and won’t have that bedding in of players period others who have signed loads have . This will hopefully give us an advantage in our early fixtures to get a few points. However as the season progresses and those teams get up to speed , I genuinely think we are going to struggle for clean sheets and scoring enough goals. The likes of Samuel were not good enough for league 1 and are certainly not good enough to spearhead us in the championship should Graham get injured. Armstrong is a class Act but will need to get the monkey of his back from his two previous spells in the Championship , I think he is more than capable , but still has it all to prove. The supporters did not set the expectations this summer, TM said he had a good budget , TM said we’d sign another 4 or 5, TM said we’d sign players with bags of experience and sprinkle a few young exciting players around them. on all fronts as things stand , this has been very underwhelming and we have until the end of the month to pluck some real competitive options from somewhere
  14. Good listen, well done guys However Rooney sentiment? 31 years old, England's record goalscorer, around the same age Tugay was when he joined Rovers, Simliar age to when Zola joined Chelsea and a year younger than Ronaldo. I think bagging Rooney on a Free transfer is incredible business for Everton and his wages may appear high, but in today's market are they really that high? He was first name on my team sheet for my fantasy football team, has got an incredible record of not getting injured a lot and has got a good 3 or 4 season's in him yet. Ibrahimovic is still flying at 35 and of all the deals done this summer I think Rooney to Everton will have Everton pushing for Champions League qualification, natural born winner
  15. As someone who presented a strong case to the sports minister 4 years ago, winged with all 3 local MPS I actually share your view. The government won't regulate the FA, they will often raise the flag and support for supporter ownership, but in terms of getting rid of Venkys, I strongly feel this is a case of been there, done that , and it's a waste of time. No one has found that magic key to forcing Venkys to sell, that magic key will never come from pressure from the likes of MPS or the football authorities. As hard as it is to take, they will only up anchor when they get bored, or it it starts to affect their other industries
  16. You really could not make this up, as this could quit easily have become the Elton Gone concert. I'm reliably informed Rovers have announced this concert and tickets are on sale , despite them not having planning permission in place. Someone at Ewood contacted the wrong department at the council , got the wrong advice and proceded, without going through the protocol of actually filling in an application. I am told , there is still no planning permission in place, although the council are likely to grant it and it will be discussed next week, however it shows once again, that we could not organise a jolly in the brewery .
  17. Just to add to IPS law debate. I recieved a letter from them when part of the action group regarding Jerome Anderson and what I said, of which my the reply was pretty much, "sue me" Farnell was also the choice of lawyer when Venkys tried to castrate Derek Shaw. They are a great law firm as they also leaked internal communication from the Raos to Shaw to the Action Group under club instruction asking us to make them public, im sure Shaw based on that would have his own law suit, considering Rovers paid the then club solicitors Brabners to write to us to ask us to remove them or they would sue. So one club lawyer tells us to make public which we do and the othet club solicitor states now we have they are going to sue, which in itself suggest dark forces within the armoury of this whole mess. Any idiot who is buying that there is no link needs to get their head out the sand. FYI from the time Dear Shebby, I thought I would send yourself and the owners a summary of the Judges verdict on our application to remove the admission of liability to pay Henning Berg a salary calculation over 2 1/2 years. You will recall Derek Shaw and Brabners admitted liability for this sum without informing the owners. This can be evidenced by Derek Shaws conversation with Brabners which is on the file where it states she will not like this but will have to do it and ease it into her. Our Application on 16th April 2013 was to attempt to remove / withdraw the admission of liability and go to a trial to hear this matter in full. You will be aware from my previous notes that upon investigating this matter further and going through the witness statement with Derek Shaw that I did have deep reservations about this matter going to full trial as a result of feeling that Derek Shaw would not make a reliable witness as he seemed to be unsure of key events. In short, the Judge today has dismissed our Application to withdraw the admission. As such, the admission by Derek Shaw and Brabners will stand and a further sum of monies (approximately £50k) will have to be paid to Henning Berg on to of the monies already paid. The Judge found that: 1) He did not believe the evidence as submitted by Derek Shaw; 2) Derek Shaw had not told Henning Berg or his advisors that he did not have the authority to enter into that contract; 3) Derek Shaw removed the 12 month notification period from the contract and it was, he found, acceptable for Henning Berg and his advisors to rely upon Derek Shaws authority to bind the owners; 4) There was contradictory evidence before him (letters regarding the investigation viz a viz notification on the Clubs official website that their was no investigation); 5) The Club had neither suspended nor terminated Derek Shaws contract therefore: - he did not believe the admission should be withdrawn and Judgment should be entered against the Club. The situation the Club faces itself in is, in my opinion, wholly unfair and results from the removal of the twelve month notification period and the initial admission of liability. This factor is even more frustrating when you consider the point at calculation of the monies owed to Henning Berg under the contract is higher than the amount of money he would have earned if he had remained at the Club for the full duration. We must not forget that payment ought to have been made within a ridiculously short length of time of 28 days. This again is a mistake that had been made either by the MD or by Brabners Chaffe Street when drafting the contract. Next Step In my opinion the Club now have to consider the following: 1. The position of the MD; 2. Whether there are any legal grounds to pursue a claim for damages against Brabners; and 3. Protection for the owners at Boardroom level. I am happy to advise briefly (and in more detail if requested) as follows: a) The actions by the MD, either deliberately or by mistake which may constitute gross misconduct and as such suspension / termination are available by way of remedy to the Club immediately. In addition, contractually the Club has the right to pursue such damages against the MD. The owners must consider this matter. Potentially, as a result of the advice that has been given by Brabners, and in some cases not given, could lead to a potential action against Brabners for damages. We should consider this in detail; and c) Currently the owners do not appear to have any one of their representatives on the Board and as such, I am concerned that the owners are not protected at Boardroom level. Consideration should be given to (perhaps yourself) being appointed to the Board and therefore being in a position to carry out the owners wishes. In addition, the position of the MD could also be reviewed (please see my earlier point). I have to say that for this situation to arise at MD level of a Plc is quite extraordinary and in my view in football is unprecedented. I would strongly urge for an urgent review of the structure and corporate governance of the Club in order to avoid a repeat or confrontation between the Board and the owners, both of which would be highly damaging to the Club. Undoubtedly the Club has received over the last few days some bad publicity as a result of the Henning Berg situation and may do so in tomorrows press. I would therefore expect that the fans and the press will expect the owners to act decisively on this matter. I wish to reassure both yourselves and the owners from a legal point of view that everything that could be done was done. In addition, the Club will also be liable for not only its own legal costs but those of the advisors to Henning Berg. Should you wish to speak with me to discuss please do not hesitate to contact me on my mobile (07748 980 707) Kind regards Yours sincerely Chris Farnell Partner IPS Law LLP (dictated not read) David House 10-12 Cecil Road Hale Cheshire WA15 9PA DDT: +44 (0)161 830 4717 Fax: +44 (0)161 830 4711

  20. Hi all, im.taking part in a boxing match on the 20th March 2016 in aid of cancer research and want to raise as much as i can. Having had a long thought about things i have decided to part with a number of my rovers things which are just sat in a wardrobe gathering years. Im open to offers on all things but a quick list of what im willing to let go, with 10% going on my justgiving page. 1. Gordan Cowans match shirt from the 1992 play off final. This is in excellent condition and is a unique piece. This shirt was never mass produced and was only worn in the final. I.have never seen another one of these bar on the day when the match was played. It comes complete with official COA confirming its authenticity. 2. Jason Roberts match worn shirt v burnley 3. Nuno Gomes match worn shirt v millwall which turned out to be the last ever career match he played as a professional footballer. 4. This seasons signed ball in case, this was the ball sponsor ball for Paul Lamberts first home game and comes complete with COA and signed programme by mom apkan from the match. 5. This seasons away top , signed with COA 6. Black and red time sponsored away shirt , signed 7. Yellow princes trust signed shirt 8. 1875 centenary shirt , signed by 1995 premier league winning team 9. Tugay uefa cup signed home shirt Have various other things which I will add to list as i start sorting through my things
  21. Relegation a bit premature after 1 league game, My concern is we are filling the remaining spaces of the squad with too many players which occupy similar positions. Surely a centre half and out and proven centre forward should be priority ? If we were sat in the bottom 3 come end of october, i cant see these clowns sacking him, that being said he has been allowed this window to bring some players in, so if he went monday , someone else would inherit what I believe is a massively imbalanced squad , which is very short of quality. Steele, Raya and Eastwood - Cant see many wanting these three and worth very little. Ollson- Massive improver but championship his level and wouldnt fetch an awful lot Killgallon- Our best centre back but cant see any takers Hanley- Talk of £4 mill- snap their hands off Duffy- Worth what? 500k?? Henley- Would get a few million for him Lowe - £1.5 mill max? Williamson- Free Evans- 500kk Conway - £1.5 mill Marshall- £3 mill Rhodes £12 mill Brown- Free New signings - Free Young lads all well under a million Whoever inherits this squad imo will inherit the worse squad we've had in over 30 years
  22. Not backtracking at all , at no point have I said he is being appointed , just that he is back on the scene in terms of the owners
  23. Before this board goes into meltdown , the owners have spoken to a number of people in recent weeks over board positions and roles . At present none of these have been appointed . I cannot see Ali being appointed unless approved by Gary Bowyer . I'm not sure what role he would be given , but surely it would just be in a coaching capacity ? For now id just treat it as a rumour unless something more cast iron transpires
  24. Ali spent quite a bit of time in last week with Venky's after being invited back after initial talks over summer with Owners during Riggs visit . He was nailed on last season for role , but it was postponed due to backlash . Just praying someone sees sense and decides no role
