The 5/1 offered at the beginning of the season, is looking like a massive mistake by the bookies now. Because my bets always lose and also due to my refusal to buy a season ticket, I have lumped on. I promise to donate the winnings to the club/ local charity, on the proviso that is it after Venkys leave.
Just had a look at latest odds found three on here now we are 9/4 , 10/9 and 1/10

Watching public around the World!! If the editor of the letter had been to school then they would realise it is World not world.....pathetic.
And why would anyone in the Riverside be bothered about a view of the JW Stand? I thought they came to see the football for 80 minutes rather than count the fans in the JW Stand (which would take 5 minutes).
Weird.
Maybe Mrs D is planning to fly in for a rare visit with her pussy and she wants to make sure everybody gets a good look at it?

Letter appeared on twitter, sent to a Riverside season ticket holder arrived today, saying there may be problems with the views because of the new TV gantry, looks like the operation to shut the Riverside next season is under way

Surely if he scores a shedload we'll be up near the top six?
not if our back line concedes a bigger shed load
-
Hmmm, hardly at an age where clubs will be wanting to spend big on him and although I think he'll score a decent amount of goals I don't think it will be enough to grab the attentions of 'bigger clubs'.
Who mentioned bigger clubs or spending big? 1.5 /2 million offer in 12 months time after a good season they will bite their hands off regardless of who offers. Keeps the conveyor belt moving.
Just keep your fingers crossed he does not win the cursed player of the year

Worries me this, scored last season; banging them in in pre season - omens point to a low scoring season!
Trouble is Tom, if he does have another good season , the venkcountant will be rubbing his hands and he will be on his way to the highest bidder (no doubt after picking up one of these mystery injuries that have suddenly appeared since the project rolled into town)

There are some pics of the Riverside with the scaffold up here

Duncan Mckenzie left Rovers to try his luck in the NASL, first with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulsa_Roughnecks_(1978%E2%80%931984) and then https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Sting
Just finished reading his autobiog 'The Last Fancy Dan'. Although he said he enjoyed his time here, he didn't seem to like Rovers fans, who he called 'dour' and having 'a negative attitude' (was this board going in the late '70's?!) . He relates a story of one old bloke telling him ' Whe you can see Darwin Hill it's a sign of rain, and when you can't it's already raining' Shocking anecdote, and he spelt Darwen wrong.
He also relates a story about the Board not stumping up the cash for a 'players pool for spending money' on an end of season promotion-winning jaunt to Majorca, and Jimmy Branagan having to have a whip round all the players. Early in the trip Garner was getting in late hammered and singing loudly in the hotel and generally making a 'nuisance of himself' so Howard Kendall threatened to send him home (and tell the local press). At the end of the week in the airport Kendall congratulated Garner on not behaving badly for the rest of the break. Garner informed him he'd just slept on the beach all week instead! The 'lads cracked up'. That's the best bit of the book. The legend of Sir Simon.
McKenzie said he left cos HK needed to bring another striker in but had to let someone go to finance it. HK described the boards decision as a 'hammer blow'. Who did we bring in and did it cost us a consecutive promotion?
Viv Busby possibly? Funnily enough he came from Tulsa Roughnecks who McKenzie went to

And let's not forget that Ken Furphy and at least two of his Rovers side were prominent in USA football in that era - Tony Field and David Bradford. I may be wrong but I seem to recall that Field played alongside Pele?
and Beckenbauer , just behind Field in this line up pic

I'd forgotten about the FS but even so I can't see it'll make much difference with only a couple of hundred extra scattered around in there. It'll just balance out others who've jacked it in this season probably. Just wait till they get the remaining riversiders across there, I'm sure it's coming.
Wonder if they are planning to have a blow up Mrs D (calm down Abbey!) , Big Gangsta B and Confused tache situated in the directors box sat with the FA mute just to complete the sham for the TV cameras

The FL are too busy rebranding themselves
Yes funny they have the money to do that, when only a few years ago in a BBC documentary they said they do not have the manpower or finance to track down who the real owners of clubs were in the Football League.
Still I'm sure the EDL (oops see how is easy it is to mistype) EFL will be having a jolly good time patting themselves on the back about the new product launch with not a thought in the world about mismanagement of their member clubs. Could be worse of course like the Premier Leagues new Disney inspired Lion king logo

Alan wright was a top division quality of player though(didn't he get a few caps, or have i imagined that?)
When we signed him he was playing for Blackpool in the third or maybe fourth division, good little player though
-
1st signing Spurr! Does that give you a clue?
I think that was an easy signing that we can not really read too much into, probably took advice from Irvine and Kelly who have been working with him for a few months. Good back up player
-
And one other thing which jumped out at me was his use of the word 'we'. 'We' haven't come into this with our eyes closed. 'We' know this side finished bottom half of the Championship. Who is this 'we'? I thought he came in on his own?
Maybe after scaling Venky towers in his milk tray man outfit to get the job, he brought the cat back with him because it wanted a new collar from Harrods, he will take it back at Christmas when the Queen of Pune requests his presence to get her Chrissy present.

Owen Coyle, after rovers v Bolton.....
''Steve Kean is a terrific coach and manager. All you want is an opportunity. We have the best league in the world, but we don't have the 20 best managers in the world, someone has to fill the dreaded places where no-one wants to be.''
So we are now beyond the dreaded places on one wants to be......well he has a point, no one wants to be here unless you cozy up to a certain agency.....
Platitudes for stable mates was probably part of his contract

At least we now have this option available to us now, live on TV.
Or a few of those large luminous arrows that shops use for sale items, all pointing at the absent owners seats, and a special tie shaped one pointing at Burnley Bob inbetween lunch courses.
Could be a good idea this camera move
-
Wonder if they have considered how empty the Owner and Directors boxes will look from the new camera angle, suppose they could get lookalikes to stand in.
-
I hope they get some pro games under their belt and make a go of their career elsewhere, all the best to them. Tanner was a standout talent at one stage wasn't he?
Pleased that Maclaren is making progress, good on him, always nice to see some of the 'no-hopers' try and prove they're good enough
I watched Maclaren at Glory after being released from Rovers and to be honest (especially in his second season) from what I saw of Rovers games on rovers player / TV he would not have looked out of place playing at least a minor role in the first team that season, unfortunately he was one of the players caught up in the salary cap scandal so left Glory. OK its the A league but comparable to mid to lower championship level.

Wonder if Tanner will make his way to the A league and follow in the footsteps of ex Rover Jamie Maclaren (released 2013) whose just been called up to the Aussie squad after finishing second highest scorer and awarded young player of the season in the A league and Brisbane'' Player of the year.

Wonder if there was any bets placed in the far east about a floodlight failure , anybody remember what game that was years ago were a betting syndicate won a fortune on that?

Eye In The Sky (2016)
Starring Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman and Aaron Paul.
A fantastic tense thought provoking modern warfare thriller /drama , don't expect action galore and you will not be disappointed.
p.s never in your life will you want to see bread bought so fast
