  1. I downloaded the demo but I've been tied up with fallout 4 to give it a look.

I will do soon though, looks superb.

It really is, I can't find a fault with it! The graphics, the physics, customisation, variety etc just hits the spot with them all. Absolutely nails the soundtrack too (like Horizon 2 did).

But with Gears 4 out I'm going to have to let it take a back seat for now.

  2. I was too young to remember at the time, but if Fury is a disgrace for acting the goat, taking the mickey and saying some dumb things then heaven knows what people must have said about Mike Tyson for raping an 18 year old and savagely biting half somebody's ear off, disfiguring him for life.

I'll reiterate, I'm no fan of the bloke, I just think a modicum of sense is needed here.

  3. Mmmm. Not so sure about that. Booze and drug abuse? Almost guaranteed to cause unhappiness, depression and mental health in-balance. What came first the chicken or the egg?

I have a lot of time for Fury the boxer, but have run out of patience with Fury the man. It is always easy pointing the finger elsewhere but as my dad always used to remind me when pointing the finger bear in mind that three fingers point straight back at you!

Am not falling for the 'feeling sorry for myself' act in place. Fancy subsequently blaming social media and negative press when actively using it to your advantage for years.

I ain't crying in my milk about Fury's supposed problems, that have only seemingly manifested themselves since Nandrolene was allegedly found in his system and he made ridiculous comments about Jews, Homosexuals and other minority groups. His lifestyle has not been condusive to professional sport and this sounds like a convenient cop out to me.

I appreciate this post isn't overly politically correct in the current climate, but I do not believe the current convenient spin. Genuine mental health problems are very serious indeed and cause major unhappiness and upset for those affected and also those charged with caring for those afflicted. You don't treat mental health problems with booze and cocaine. Simple as that.

Whether alcohol and drugs were a factor in his psychological problems or not, for me it has to he taken at face value at this stage.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not particularly a fan of the bloke either, I just don't incessantly hate him like the majority of people do.

  4. I was in Darwen on Saturday night and didn't even go into The Bridgewater! Though I did end up in Level One with my mate until daft o'clock!

Oh aye I don't mean nowadays like, just when it first opened up (avenues for others to follow). I do believe it's still popular though I haven't been in years. Level One is another I wouldn't step foot in, though maybe I'm just a grumpy sod!

Number 39 is one of the places for me in Darwen, good ale and smells like a sweaty mop, the way all good pubs should smell!

  5. But just 10 years ago, Darwen was poor and Blackburn was still a decent(ish) night out.

However, the opening of the Bridgewater was the catalyst for what you see today (obviously helped by Blackburn's nightlife folding almost overnight).

Blackburn could rise again with such a catalyat, the old cinema would have been perfect for a large bar to help reinvigorate the night time economy, however I always get the feeling that this isn't a priority with the powers that be.

Amazing really that such a grotty place such as The Bridgewater could kick-start the nightlife in the town. People must have been pretty desperate for somewhere, anywhere, to go.

  6. It's pretty clear he's trying everything he can to weasel his way out of a rematch.

He doesn't want to fight anymore, he's made the money he wants to settle down, in fact I think he said as much after beating Wlad. With the automatic rematch clause being activated, he's contractually obligated to fight by Wlad's team. That would cost him too much money to buy his way out of (not that I think Team Klit would accept reasonable amount as a settlement anyway) so his only other option to to take the pee so much in the hope Klitschko either gives up or he gets stripped of the belts.

He'll get stripped before Klitschko gives up on this fight definitely.

  7. Wish these British lads would stop getting beat.

    Smith dropped by body shots.

Interesting really as Jimmy Kelly hurt Smith to the body a couple of times as well and I had wondered if body shots would tell in this fight.

Wish Froch would come back. It was good knowing our guy would still be stood up 12 rounds later.

I think you knew deep down it was always going to happen, if you're honest with yourself.

  8. Punk wanted to start out at a much lower level, but got offered an amazing deal with UFC and felt like he had to accept it. He didn't have a chance, but it was funny how many people he fooled into believing he was a genuine contender.

Not sure where he goes from here. UFC have paid him for multiple fights, so they're going to have to figure out how to put him out there without making him look like a clown again. If he gets destroyed again his appeal will vanish.

UFC insert a clause into most contracts, certainly up and comers/beginners anyway, where they can cut you after a loss regardless of however many fights of the contract you have fulfilled.

  9. Be fair Abs. Wrestlers with unbeaten records in UFC include:

    Alberto Del Rio

    Batista

    Minoru Suzuki

    Shinsuke Nakamura

    Bobby Lashley

    Bob Sapp

    Sean O'Haire

Also Dan Severn, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Ken Shamrock had very impressive records although I think they went from full-on UFC careers to wrestling.

Reckon the likes of Kurt Angle, Stu Barrett, and Fit Finlay could've held their own on the Octogon. Punk has never looked the part to me. His shape (despite being a phenomenal athlete) meant I struggled to suspend my disbelief while watching wrestling.

Don't want to be pedantic but of all those in your list Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock are the only ones to have competed in the UFC.

And off the top of my head only Batista is unbeaten in his career, by virtue of having one bout.

Bob Sapp's record, for example, is pretty horrible. He was booked mainly for freak show fights in Japan. He's very popular over there.
